Do I Have To Bleach My Hair

Do you have to bleach hair before dying it?

Sorry, there’s no hard and fast answer.I’m not a hairdresser but I alter the color of my naturally strawberry blonde hair a lot. Darker requires no bleach; lighter does. The fun colors: pink, purple, blue, green all require that you strip the color from your hair first. I did it earlier this year and it actually altered the texture of my hair until it grew out!Unless you’re experienced, go to a hairdresser for your questions.

Do you have to bleach your hair to dye it ombre?

Ever since I saw a youtuber with ombre hair, I've been talking about how much I love it and how I want to dye my hair like that. I have been asking my mom about this and she's almost convinced to let me dye it.
The problem is most tutorials on dyeing it say you have to bleach our hair for this, but I'm not allowed to bleach my hair since it ruined my sisters hair.
My hair is like a medium brown color and it fairly long. I've dyed it before, but it faded, so I now have my natural color back.
Anyway, if I wanted to dye it, would I need to bleach my hair?
I know bleaching it would make it lighter, but if I bought the lightest blonde hair dye, would it at least make the bottom of my hair light brown?

How many times would i have to bleach my hair to get it to a platinum blonde color?

well i am a stylist and i thought this question is pretty funny cause my hair is black and i just bleached under my bangs and around my hair line to get the same effect you want ,,, n e ways ... it depends on whether your hair is naturally black or if you have black hair color on your hair .... my hair is colored black and lets see friday we used v-light and 30 vol and it lightened my hair to a bright orange color... we then used a ash/violet toner and it was still kinda orange but not so bright ,,, today (sunday) we used a chi high-lift blonde and 40 vol .. and it was now a bright yellowish color then we toned it with a 10v and it is now a golden blonde color ( light yellow) but livable because my scalp hurts hahahhah so probably next thursday i will bleach it again and should hae super blonde hair . just be sure to do a deep conditioning treatments in between colors because is you get your hair to Platinum and its ready to fall out then that wont be so pretty so take your time ...:) good luck

Can you bleach dyed hair? If so, how?

Absolutely you can! It just takes a little more caution than bleaching virgin hair.I recently bleached my hair from bright red to very light blonde, and it turned out just fine. It kinda depends on what colour your hair was dyed (for example black and dark browns are harder to get out,) but here’s a general overview:I went to Sally Beauty Supply and purchased Prismlites Blue toned Bleach, 30 volume developer (creme, not liquid [personal preference]) and a shiny new tint brush. (But I’m no professional. Use caution and commonsense…I ain’t liable for your hair.)Since I was doing more of a balayage-highlighting technique, I didn’t get within a couple inches of my roots, so that was one less thing to worry about.I sectioned my hair carefully, and as soon as I began applying the bleach I worked quickly to pull it through evenly (in the places i wanted). I started timing immediately and actually stopped halfway through bleaching to rinse the bottom section, so it wouldn’t overprocess.Once your hair is a pale yellow at the lightest, (mine had a teeny bit of orange in places,) you MUST wash the bleach out or face all the hair catastrophes I’m sure you’ve heard about. If your hair was really dark, you might want to stop while still orange (or once the time suggestion on the bleach is up,) because it’s better to go back later and re-bleach then to fry it trying to go super light in one day. After that, shampoo, tone if you want, or wait and dye it. Good luck!Oh, and don’t freak out when it’s still wet. My hair looked bright yellow-orange when I was fresh out of the shower, but once it dried it looked much blonder and better. First appearances can be deceiving!

Do you have to bleach brown hair to dye it red?

No, it really depends on the shade of red you want. Check out boxed dyes to get an idea of how it will come out. If you want a more natural red, you can dye it blonde (without bleach) and then do a red after.

I'm bleaching my hair, do I HAVE to use gloves?

I dyed my hair with Splat Lusty Lavender and when I did I didn't use the bleaching kit first. Now my hair has faded from purple, to a pink-ish brown. I'm going to bleach it with one of the leftover bleaching kits, but I don't havy any gloves to use. If I go ahead and bleach it without gloves, what affect will it have on my skin?

Should you bleach your hair before dyeing it purple?

It depends— do you want a purple toned whatever-your-hair-is-now, or do you want a truly bright, vibrant purple? Some stores sell bleach-free dye kits that are supposed to work on darker hair. I tried one earlier this year. Supposedly, you can achieve this picture without bleaching your brunette hair:Yeah, I call baloney on that claim. And double baloney on this diagram.“Results may vary” really means “It's gonna barely show unless you're a natural medium blonde or lighter.” I had some pieces show a purplish sheen in bright sunlight, but otherwise my hair looked darker brown, nothing more even when I reapplied three times. If you want noticeably color and your hair is darker than chocolate milk, you probably need at least some lightener in your dye plan. Bleach is scary. It can literally melt your hair if something goes wrong. If your hair breaks easily or you're afraid of causing permanent damage, absolutely go to a professional. Otherwise, make sure to buy from a well-reviewed brand and follow the directions closely.Enjoy your purple hair no matter how you get there!
