Do I Have To Create A Job Resume If Im Going To Go In Person

Should I include a 1 month job on my resume?

I totally would advise that you do!Even in just a single month, you have acquired skills! You also would not want to have any red flags pop up- like a gap on your career history dates, small though it may be.Last thing you want to be is in an interview and they bring that up and press for an answer- and you say that you worked somewhere during that time, yet failed to put it on the resume. It is best to disclose everything upfront. If you left after a month- tell them it was to move ahead in your career.Try to use whatever experience you gained during that month in your resume to show that your skills are very transferable.Good Luck! ;)Amanda Goodall, The Job Chick

Whats better? Applying for a job online or in person?

In person is always best. Make sure you're dressed for the occasion. If you show up in shorts and a t-shirt that could be your problem. Also, what places have you tried and what positions are you going for? You may be applying for positions that are not well suited for you and your current goals.

Restaurants, grocery stores, etc. should be an easy sell...cold calling is going in without an appt either in person or over the phone. The time of day and day of the week could also be hindering you. If you're applying in person during peak hours the managers have a thousand other things on their minds and can't devote too much to you. Try picking a slow day and time frame to go in and apply. Let the manager know that you're hard working, diligent, and trustworthy and even though you may lack the specific skills you're a fast learner.

Good luck

If I have no job experience, do I still need to create a resume?

I’m your prospective employer. I’m trying to decide from a piece of paper whether or not you’re worth an interview, much less a job. How do I make my decision?I’m interviewing the person who took the time to create a proper resume. Even if you’re applying for your first job, make the effort. The worst thing that will happen is that you now have a resume and no job. The best thing that will happen is that your future employer recognizes you as a go-getter and gives you a shot. Either way you win. Here’s what I tell my students: You can make something happen or you can make excuses. Only one of those things helps.Make a resume. Put something on there about your character. Have you helped your family / church / club out? Add that. Did you volunteer or do community service? Add that. Do you know something about the job or have a skill related to the job? Add that.Oh, one last thing: Talk about being punctual. Entry level jobs often have major problems with lateness / absences. Tell them about your school attendance. Are you there every day? This single fact has gotten me not one but two jobs. Tell them you’ll be there even if you have to walk in the rain. ;)

Do I need a resume if I have no job experience?

I want to work in Forever 21. Iam 16yrs old with no job experience. I made a short resume:

Profile:
Determined young lady seeking a job in the retail department. Tustworthy, responsible, dependable, and committed to customer service. Self-motivated and hardworking individual; loves to be around people.

Hobbies/activities:
Enjoys being around family and friends as well as swimming and going to amusement parks. Animal lover.

Employment History:
No job experience, however, babysat for a family friend numerous amounts of time which shows reliability.

Is it necessary to even turn in a resume?
Should I just turn in the application?
On the application it says "list last three employers or attach resume".
What do I do?
I want to be a cashier, please let me know if this is necessary.

Thank you

Jobs: Applying Online vs Applying In Person?

I am sort of in the same boat as you, only I live in a rent-house and have bills of my own. Oh and grandparents who are still of the "walk in and get hired on the spot" mentality. I've tried both methods. Unless an ad SPECIFICALLY tells you to apply in person, don't. More often that not, when you go in to apply in person they'll just tell you to go online. Some places won't even glance at your resume. The places that do want you to apply in person will often have an application they want you to fill out.
Also it will depend on the places you go to. If it's a local store, then it would probably be best to go in and simply ask if they are hiring. If it's a nation-wide company, don't even bother asking anyone, just go online.

Good luck. :-)

PS. If you manage to land an interview and they say they'll call, don't count on it. From my experience it's about like asking someone "how are you?" There's no real meaning to it.

How to make a job resume if I've never had a job before?

Look online and you'll probably see some templates. Basically you want this stuff:

Name, Phones, Email (Make an account with your "FirstName_LastName @___.com" - You don't want something that looks unprofessional), address.

School, GPA, skills, what you've done in clubs/sports/other organizations, any awards

Try to focus on things that would help you do the job. Also write a good cover letter that might explains you've been working on your studies or helping around the house or whatever, which is why you haven't worked much before.

If they say they want references, you'll want that too (Teachers, friends of family, etc) If not, still bring them with you if you get an interview, since you'll probably be filling out a separate job application once you get there.

You can embellish a bit, but don't outright lie. That can be grounds to fire you.

Is it common to put some fake working experience on the resume?

I do not believe it is common, though I can only speak to the industry I am in. Fake experience is easily taken apart during the interview in tech, and if you're found to be lying, you'll most likely be blackballed by the company (and anybody who leaves the company and remembers you). It'll get your foot in the door, maybe, but it won't get you the job. Just don't do it.Instead, take the experience you actually have and frame it as to be relevant to the jobs you want. If you can't do that, GET that experience before you apply. Check out this post on how best to frame your experience on your resume.
