Do I Phones Need A Data Plan

Does each iphone need its own data plan?

I think this is a question better suited for a Verizon employee. They know how to navigate these individual circumstances. Oh & the other answerer could say what he wants about staying clear of iPhones but they still have more marketshare than all the Android phones.

Do you need a data plan for iPhone app development?

You don’t need a data plan for iPhone app development. However, you want a data plan, for the following reasons:You can use the Network Link Conditioner on your iPhone to simulate various kinds of bad network connections. Use it; even if you have a data plan. It’s smart to make it really hard for your app to connect, so that you can handle extreme cases in code. However, 3G connections differ from WiFi connections in subtle ways, and certainly in more ways than speed alone. As an example, see this article from Amazon AWS: Uploading to Amazon S3 over 3G using the AWS SDK for iOS .. this is an old article and the recommendations there don’t apply anymore or have been superseded, but it’s just an example of how, at that point in time, different code was needed or recommended for 3G networks. The problem might be elsewhere. You might use libraries that have bugs when dealing with 3G, or you might find out that your carrier 3G connection has issues. An application I developed had, in its workflow, an upload phase of a file to a server. One specific and major national carrier (in the country the app was supposed to run in) had a bug where they closed the connection upon encountering a specific sequence of bytes which, for some reason, often appeared in our uploaded data file. Because we controlled the receiving server, we could work around it. Hadn’t we had testers on the field doing this with different carriers, we wouldn’t have found out. Now, getting data connections for different carriers might be overkill for your specific situation, but it’s just an example. You will want to test your app everywhere, not just when sitting at your desk. Why? Because it will be used everywhere. Does it work when a user moves from a wifi-covered area to 3g? Does it work on a train, or when moving at high speed (if you think this is silly, try)? How does it handle when I’m entering the underground?

Can I use my iPhone without a data plan?

You can get any iPhone to do that. Unlocking is for getting it to work on multiple carriers, which you don't need. As long as it is activated by any carrier, you should be fine.

How to use Iphone with normal data plan?

or is it even possible?

I just brought a phone and added an extra line on for my bf... He has an iphone already.. I have a family talk plan with unlimited data, but he cannot access the internet. Is there away for him to use the internet with the at&t sim card, or do i need the $30 a month iphone data plan?

How can I convince my parents to get me a data plan / iPhone?

I am 13 years old and currently have an LG Vu Plus, which I was perfectly fine with, until it one day broke and would not turn on...I am due for an upgrade in 3 weeks, but as I have found out, it's very hard once you become dependent on your phone. My mom is due for an upgrade and she said she would be happy to do the upgrade swap with me, and she said the iPhone 5 isn't a big deal. My dad on the other hand is very stubborn. He has set his mind that I won't get the iPhone because "He hates Apple" and "I don't need the data plan yet". I know that money isn't an issue because my dad just hates Apple and he has an HTC smartphone. I'm also taking high school course classes in the 8th grade and I clean the house every week (so I can't really say I'll do much more). I've offered to pay half of the data plan every month and keep my grades over 97% all semester, my grandmas even offered to pay for the data plan (but I would feel bad.) So basically how can I convince them to let me get an iPhone while having a data plan?

ATT Family Talk Iphone Plan?

So currently I am on a ATT Family Talk (With 2 Lines) with my mom. She is the actual first line, she's the one paying for the bills etc. We currently have the shared 700 minutes with (UNLIMITED DATA PLAN, NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS, MOBILE TO MOBILE ETC.. ) We added the 30 dollars unlimited Texting.. Will it apply to for both of us?

ALSO.. Main problem is she seems to have internet problems in her phone, Application Store, Itunes, and Safari will NOT Load, It keeps on insisting that she is not on a Data Plan? What can I do about this should I just go to the ATT store to get it fixed? By the way MY phone is working fine with everything else, I have internet, phone line is fine.. It's just hers wont load her internet.. but she can still text and call people.

Thanks for answering.

Why does my iPhone churn through data?

For starters, I have two phones. I Think it s really important to have a back up, so I purchased an Amazon fire phone right after they flocke Think it s really important to have a backup, so I purchased an Amazon fire phone right after they flopped. I wanted a backup, and I thought it looked cool, I love Amazon, and most importantly it was really cheap. When I first bought it I was still using my iPhone, so I checked my data usage at the end of the month and I had used 9 gigs. It was outrageous but I share a family plan with five people, and very few of them use that much data so of the 15 we have we only ended up using 11. This meant my parents just got mad at me. I plugged my sim into my fire phone and the problem disappeared. I was using like 1 fifteenth the amount of data I had been even though I was doing the same stuff. Now I have to use my iPhone again and I m again, churning through data. I don t think anything is running in the background and I don t think my phone is corrupt but I need this to stop and I need it to stop now. Help. Why am I churning through data?

Why do smart phones require a data plan?

Now, maybe my reasoning is off here....but if I am paying for internet (dsl) at my house and I have a router (which my laptop makes use of to connect wirelessly) in the house, why exactly can't I buy an android phone or HTC or whatever without paying a $30 a month data plan? I didn't have to pay extra for my laptop to connect to the internet...because I'm already paying for the internet

And when I'm at university, which has wireless internet all over campus, why shouldn't I just be able to surf the web on the phone?

I just don't see exactly why I should be charged for a data plan by t-mobile or whoever. If I buy an unlocked nexus one (over $500) and put it on t-mobile and pay a monthly fee for calling/texts, shouldn't that be it? The internet capabilities are ALREADY INCLUDED IN THE HIGH PRICE FOR THE PHONE. And I have internet access...whether I'm at home or school, so where do these morons come in exactly to charge for a bs data plan?
