Do I Sound Ill Are These Things Normal

Is it normal to hear voices before falling asleep?

Hi, thanks for the A2A. I’ve answered this question before so I’ll post the reply I gave the person who asked as well as a link to the original question. To sum it up though, it’s VERY normal, and it’s part of the sleep process, as you drift off to sleep, your brain activity gets irregular and you have something similar to auditory and visual hallucinations. Like me, you’re just very aware of yourself haha, don’t worry about it, you can actually enjoy it. Here’s what I posted:It’s absolutely nothing to be worried about. You do NOT have schizophrenia, and you don’t necessarily have insomnia either. This is just a phenomenon called “hypnagogia”. It happens to me most nights too, and I actually quite enjoy it.As you fall asleep, your neurons (brain cells) start firing at different rates, changing the frequency or brainwave. This doesn’t happen uniformly across the entire brain, so the brain activity makes your thoughts, both verbal and visual (dream-like imagery) get all muddled up. This is the same way you have those weird dreams that don’t seem to make any sense.Hypnagogic images and auditory hallucinations are common, and I find it happening if I’m especially aware of my thoughts when I’m drifting off to sleep. With practice, you can observe it and remember quite a bit of it the next day. I’ve had some incredibly creative ideas come up on occasion in that state!I hope this helps. I’d love to hear more about your experience with these sounds and images you notice. And anyone else who’s reading too. This is one of my top interests in sleep processes, which is what I study! :DIf you’re having trouble sleeping, check out The Sleep District for some stuff on how to fix it without much effort. Those are the things that worked for me and I had years of insomnia! Here’s the link to the original question: https://www.quora.com/Why-do-I-hear-voices-in-my-head-as-I-fall-asleep/answer/Joi-Bellis

Is he too old for this? Is he a mommy's boy? Wuss? Is it Normal? Am I over reacting? I hope not, I think not!?

this is the second time i wrote about this. I got really good feedback but now i want more opinions. it proved that im not over reacting. ill say this here again im not bashing on this kid these are just things he does and all!

Been with girlfriend for 2 years. She has a 10 year old son. He is afraid to shower on his own without mommy sitting in the toilet while he showers,he wont sleep in his own bed and wakes up in the middle of the night to be found next to me or her. If she leaves the room to go to the living room to do homework he will kick the door open all scared saying "momma, momma, mommy where are you?" and then wont go to sleep and wants mommy to sleep next to him. Keep in mind he is 10 years old people! He likes movies like enchanted, and stuff I would say are for girls, like Hannah Montana, I-Carly, The jonas brothers, High School Musical. I wanna throw in that I have an 8 Year old brother who isnt like that. He likes wrestling, sports, scary movies along with other kinds of movies, not a typical kid but this kid wouldnt wanna watch The Dark Knight cause he was scared, He didnt wanna go to Laser Tag with my 8 year old bro and i cause he was scared. He is used to being catered to and I always put an end to it and all the little fits he has, I wanna know if im gonna marry this chick, should it be ok that she gives me more authority over her son? because im afraid that if i ever have kids with her they will turn out to be wusses like this one. Im honestly afraid......is there hope? i dont mean to bash on this kid, i am not making this up, this is just how things are going down right now! is he a wuss? or what the hell?

oh and i think he might be a little queery....put towel on his head when he is out of the shower and usually sings along to songs like "if i were a little rich girl, nananananana" or something like that or if i were a boy! and he sometimes put on them high heels yeah! and hes like so proud of it! he gets all paranoid when his nails need to be clipped, claims his nails hurt! ugh!

and for some reason he cant swallon a friggin tiny pill she has to open his mouth and he tosses it in the and he gags....drama queen on my opinion thanks god hes living to texas for the summer!@ he has a.d.d but hes just a wuss i think!

I think I'm mentally ill? Worth seeking help?

The best thing to do is go to see a doctor. He will help you the most. I have anxiety and depression. My parents are both in the health field to, and just told me it was nothing. i had to make them notice something wasn't right (i'm not a crazy, just a depressed chick). I also had a rougher past. I felt some of the things you did, but at some point it is just a phase. When its a phase you can't get out of, that's when you go and find help. Or when things get worse. For example, mine started with just feeling kind of sad every once and a while, and i've always been really shy and nervous. But at 16 i got sad a lot and before you know it I was having vicious panic attacks once a month..then once a week...i had kept in touch with a doctor about it the whole time and he really helped me decide what i wanted to do without making me feel crazy. So please, go to your doctor. You're not the only one with these issues and the doctor won't judge, only help. It's especially growing more common in teenage girls. its alright! talk!

My cat is making a continuous purring sound all the time, is that normal?

Place your finger on your cat’s “adam’s apple” and see if you can feel vibration there. This is to verify that the noise is a purr. Now, is the noise steady, or only heard on the inhale or exhale? If the latter, your cat is having respiratory difficulty and needs a vet.If no vibration at voice box, the cat needs a vet. Place a finger in front of the cat’s nostrils and see if you feel air moving evenly out of each nostril. If not, off to vet.If cat is behaving normally, has not changed in anyway physically, (hair coat, eating and “bathroom” habits), and is not showing any behavioral changes, and it IS a purr, and not harsh and/or irregular, you are probably OK.If you feel vibration at the chest (under the left elbow on the side) and not at the voice box, go to vet. That’s a sign of heart problems (murmur and a bad one). How old is your cat? Overweight? What breed? When did this start? The more detail you can give me, the more info I can give you, but all in all, any time anything weird comes up with a cat, I tend to lead toward a vet visit as cats can be very ill before they show signs (they are prey as well as predators so hide symptoms), and can crash very quickly indeed.

How when acting can i sound and look sick?

for looks pale foundation, red blush on your nose, and bruise colored mac eyeshadow for bags under your eyes.

i would practice holding your nose while you talk and practice blocking air flow through your nose. also no strict movements. always act lethargic and don't be sudden just ease into things.

also either you have a harder time moving or you're constantly falling over. i would also kind of squint your eyes, but not too much. just enough to give the idea that you can barely keep your eyes open.

one more thing is if your throwing up in your sickness, don't hold your jaw, kind of let it go because most people get a weak jaw while throwing up.

If your character has any long speaking lines, start out with the idea that your character is just not 100%, then as the line goes on let your voice get raspier and let it drag.

for your state of mind, the question "when will i get better" should be a constant thought. you want to make your audience believe that its a major problem not jus "oh im gonna act sick" it should tell them "i'm sick and not only is it affecting my life, but it could also ruin it"

hope this helped!

What do voices in your head sound like?

Well, I have auditory, visual and tactile hallucinations, so I can tell you from experience.
I hear voices and noises in my head and not in my head. The voices I hear in my head are like thoughts, but I cannot control them and they are not my voice. Sometimes I'll find myself having conversations with the voices in my head, then I realize what I'm doing and stop. I also hear voices and noises outside of my head, such as screaming out of nowhere, things crashing as if a glass was dropped and shattered or I'll hear loud laughing right next to my ear.

The voices in my head don't say random things, it's usually relevant to what I'm doing, but it's always negative. They would insult me about everything I do. It's a very scary experience.

I've been on Geodon as an anti-psychotic though for more than a year, so it's gone down.

I hope this helps you understand better.
