Do I Sound Pretty No Picture

Direct T.V. sound but no picture?

I have Direct t.v. For the last few days we kept losing signal, it kept blinking off an on. We thought maybe some tree branches were in the way. Then today, it was working fine. Suddenly, the picture went black but we have sound. It is on the correct input channel, it was working then just blinked off. The t.v. is working fine, (picture with DVD player and video game consoles,) and the cables are all hooked up correctly. The picture has been off for about an hour, but the sound is perfect. Is it possible for a home system such as Direct t.v. to pick up sound but not picture? What could be wrong?

How do you fix a TV with sound but no picture?

I'm as clueless as you.Option 1:Option 2: Call the guy.Option 3: If the guy says the TV is done, go to the TV store.

I hear sound, but see no picture on my TV?

This sounds like the back-lights have quit working. This is made up with an inverter (ballast) and fluorescent lamps. I want you to try something. In a very dark room turn the tv on and watch what happens to the screen. There is three things that can happen. first the screen will stay completely black. This means the inverter never fired, and this is usually a failed inverter, but sometimes the power supply may fail. there is also a rare time the main module never outputted the signal to activate the inverter, but this is rare because you can hear the audio. So obviously the main is working at least 90%. The second thing that can happen is the screen will light for a split second then go black. This usually means that you have a bad lamp. These lamps are physically locate inside the LCD panel, and the replacement cost exceeds the price of a new unit. You may even see a dark area in the screen. The slight glow will not be uniformly lit through out the screen. Finally the last thing you may see is the screen has a slight glow. This means the back-lights work, but the video portion isn't showing. This usually means the driver board (T-con) has failed. This is probably not available separately, so you must replace the panel to fix it. And like before, the replacement cost exceeds the price of a new unit. One more thing to do when the set is on and in the very dark room if the screen is black, point a very intense flashlight into the screen. Put the flashlight against the lcd screen and see that you have video moving around the glow of the flashlight.

TV has sound but no picture!?

If you have the problem only when watching cable, that pretty well narrows it to a few things: (1) bad connecting cable between your cable box (or cable wall outlet) and TV, (2) a bad jack on either end, (3) an internal problem with your TV, or (4) an internal problem with the cable box.

(1) and (2) are unlikely if you have good sound. (3) could be a problem, but it's less likely if you have good video on an antenna, DVD player, etc. That leaves (4) as the most likely.

I would want to try temporarily connecting that cable box to another TV. Maybe there's a small set in the house you can use for a brief test. Once you've proven the problem is in the cable box, you can call Mediacom for help and they won't be able to say it's your jacks, cables, TV, etc. Good luck.
--------------
Followup: to ensure you don't have a connecting cable or jack problem (especially if using component or composite connections), make sure the cables are plugged into the correct jacks and that they are firmly seated on both ends.

ATT Uverse has sound but no picture?

You should probably reboot your set top box. The "soft" reboot is to press and hold down the power button on the box until you see green/blue/red dots on front of box, but no more than a few seconds. The "hard" reboot is to press down "the okay button", the "arrow down button" and the "power button" at the same time until you see the lights on the front of the box. The is the same procedure in restarting a computer with control/alt/delete buttons. The okay button and the arrow down button are located in the circular like dial on the front right side of the set top box (motorola model). The Set top box will reset itself and this may take minutes. See more instructions on att's uverse website. This happened to us and this resets the box, which is basically a computer.

Good Luck,

Why would my RCA tv have sound but no picture?

The sound & picture are two different functions, handled by two different sets of electronics on a Television

Sound like the picture portion is Broken. If the menu is still showing up, it's not the picture tube.

Most TV's arn't worth fixing, cheaper to get a new one

Is there a way to fix an LCD TV that has sound, but no picture?

There always is a way to fix things like a TV but what will the labour and parts end up costing.Probably either the back lights or their the circuit that supplies them power has an issue. It could even be a bad connection on a board or one of the connectors such as the back light plug in connector has a back connection or needs to be re-seated. If you're handy with electronics or know someone that is I can help you by guiding you through the process.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way I was just asking a friend of mine that owns two TV shops in California and my gut was telling me that is a led problem and he confirmed it telling me that it's a common fault with that make and that there's probably is a led that is open.I'am sure that if you call up or drop by a TV shop they will tell you the same thing. That job can be expensive bec the whole set has to come apart and the panel too.You might find a shop that\will fix it for 60-120 bucks. One last note even if the warranty time period has run out on it some manufactures may still honor the warranty even if it's 2-3 months past the expiration date.I'd look up factory warranty service centre's that do factory repairs for Seiki televisions.

I know it will sound pretty idiotic, but how can I upload a picture on Quora?

No, it doesn't sound idiotic at all. To upload a picture, tap on camera symbol in your keypad. It will give you options to choose images from different folders and there you are!

My TV will not show a picture, but still has sound what could have happened to it?

That depends on a few variables.1 how old is the TV and is it HDif it's an older tv (and not HD) it means you may just need to buy a new tv (like we had to as the same thing happened. If it is HD you might want to get a tech to help you out if you already tried to work on the picture ratio and all that sort. Did you check all the wires to the tv (cable, Game system etc) make sure they weren't loose or anything?
