Do Windows Vista Laptops Go Right Back To Where They Were After They Shut Down

Windows 7 and laptop won't start up?

that problem may be cause by very low memory Ram so what u need to do is do a recovery to the laptop the recovery is normally by pressing "ESC" key and then F-10 key do theses step first the recovery might give u the oportunity to save you're data

or try to make a clean install of windows 7 (if u are trying to save ur data do a recovery first)
good luck

My Windows Vista laptop randomly shuts down often and is a lot slower than usual. What can I do to fix this?

Clean all the vents/fans with canned air.
Don't run the laptop on a soft surface, bedding/your lap etc. Use a hard surface, such as a tray.
Check your power settings in Control Panel>Power Options.
Log on as an Administrator.

First delete/un-install all programs/applications/games you no longer use (especially those you have disks for).

Burn/copy to CD/DVD/flash drive any and all music/pictures/movie files and delete the originals.

Download install and run Ccleaner, both 'Registry' and 'Cleaner' parts...

Run Disk Cleanup (Start>All Programs>Accessories) check/tick all boxes, they're all safe to remove.

Run Disk Defragmenter (Start>All Programs>Accessories).
Re-start.

Click Start>Run (or type in search bar) and type "msconfig" (without quotes " "),click the Startup tab and uncheck anything that's not needed at startup.

Go to this site to check which services can be safely stopped/removed...

If all else fails... buy more RAM :)

Laptop shuts off randomly?

i would definitely suggest you get a new charger. if its short circuiting then it will easily shut it dow. another big thing is that you mention it was shut down imporperly (which short circuits do). look into getting a new charger as soon as possible. if you end up looking for a new charger online i would personally suggest you visit topmicrousa they are very reliable and have yet to disappoint.

if you have any more questions feel free to send me an email and ill be happy to help \(^_^)/

Is the sudden shutdown of my laptop a result of not being able to meet the minimum system requirements of a game? I'm a little bit confused right now.

Not likely. Not unless your computer is pushing itself to the point where it overheats and crashes (in which case you should see the telltale blue screen of death anyway). It is more likely that your computer has some other issues:You could have a old or faulty battery that is giving incorrect readings on your OS.If you have dropped, thrown, or driven over your laptop (or anything of that nature really), you might have shorted a connection in your computer that could cause it to randomly shutdown occasionally. You could have corrupt system files that are causing some serious error. Try reinstalling Windows/Linux/etc.Try doing some stress tests on your computer. Prime95 is good if you wish to stress test your cpu, and make sure your keep your eye on temps while your doing it (with a program like RealTempGT). Even try pressing down on your keyboard and around/on your mousepad, and watch for any glitches on your screen, caused by a short circuit (this is I lost my last laptop). And please backup your files - for your sake.

Why does my laptop keep hibernating??

When your computer goes into "hibernate" mode, however, it stores whatever it has in memory on your hard disk before shutting down. To return to your screen, press the power button (for LESS THAN 5 seconds--holding the power button longer will reset the computer) and then log in again: the items you had on your screen before hibernation will still be there.

Important: You MUST select a set time after which your laptop hibernates if you want your work to be saved when it shuts down on its own. Your default setting is for standby only--it will not currently hibernate. To set it for hibernation, click on the Start icon in the taskbar, and then select Control Panel by clicking on it. In the Control Panel window that appears click on the Performance and Maintenance icon. Then click on the Power Options button on the right side of your screen. You will then see the Power Options Properties window with tabbed options. Select the Power Schemes tab.

In the "System hibernates" fields (notice that there are two, one under the Plugged In icon, another under the Running on Batteries icon), click the down arrow to view your options in the drop-down menus and select a time for each field ("After 10 mins," etc.). Choose 'Never' if you want. Then click OK. Notice that on this tab you can also change the settings for "System standby."
