Do You Agree With My Busking Songs

Busking Songs For Violin?

Hi, I'm a 14 year old boy living in Ireland. I play the violin and am currently preparing for RIAM Grade 7 (roughly ABRSM Grade 5 I think). I am also looking into DJing and need some money to fund my new hobby, and busking seems to be my best option at the moment. Can anyone suggest any songs that would work well in Dublin. I've been told that traditional Irish stuff works well, and as it's almost Christmas, I'd say carols would be both easy and effective. Thanks!

Busking in the UK?!....?

well im not a musician...but im a street magician....I usually go in to shopping malls or wherever there is a crowd.....pick a spot that is visible from all locations...so that ppl can see u from far away..dnt have too much "props"...just a guitar(or whtever u r playing) and something to sit...minor downtowns are generally better than the main downtowns - people are happier, it's easier to get a corner.
People will ask about lessons, so if you don't teach, consider carrying the phone number of your friend who does....also try to play the "current chart busters"..but remember..u have to cater to other tastes as well..like classical, jazz, etc...

and ALWAYS...keep the faith.......Good luck

Busking my with flute?

People love songs they can recognize, I've noticed. Video game and movies themes are great, also popular songs from artists nowadays or a couple decades ago. I find Beatles songs are pretty popular with the crowds.
As for finding music, I completely agree with the other person that said you need your music memorized. It connects you to your audience - no barrier. But to find the original music to memorize, there is tons of free stuff online! For flute music, go to:
www.flutetunes.com
There is tons of free music for all levels there. Also, when your looking online, you don't need to just get flute music. Flutists can read violin (fiddle), oboe, the pianist's right hand, vocal lines, and anything else that plays in the key of C and treble clef. If you can read bass clef, you can also read cello, bassoon, and others.
If your looking for a song in particular, say you want to play the Beatles' Here Comes the Sun, the just google "here comes the sun free sheet music" or something along those lines.
Hope this helps. Have fun!

Punk/Ska/Crack Rock Steady: Busking songs?

As great as all that 90s punk/ska is your probably better off playing more well known songs cause people will give money if they hear a song they know so maybe play a few Bosstones or Less Than Jake songs.

but if your set on Ranis and Leftover Crack i'd suggest these:

Roots Radical- Rancid
Ruby Soho- Rancid
The Bravest Kid- Rancid
Nazi White Trash- Leftover Crack
World War 4- Leftover Crack

Who has some advice on busking?

good on you for having the courage to try!
couple of things to know- especially at your age-though it applies to everyone:
Don't busk alone. Have someone keep an eye on you, and to keep an eye on the crowd. You don't want someone stealing your money cup while you're performing. You need a partner or parent nearby. Never go it alone. People steal from adults. They will gladly steal from a kid.
Do you need a license? That depends on where you plan on busking. Call the town and ask, as laws vary.
play as long as you want to
play what you like, or , to make more money, play what the audience likes.
What does the audience like? Ask them!

What songs are good to play on the clarinet when busking?

Depending on where you're playing; I bet Dixieland will get the most response in money for a clarinet player.

I don't think I've ever seen a solo clarinet busking. Jazz standards (like the sax players do - use the "Just Jazz Fake Book") might work too. I'm thinking that the Mozart A or Hindemith won't make you enough for a Coke but I could be wrong.

What are some good guitar songs for busking? without singing?

go to you tube, type in busking and see what you find. Might be something there you like
