Do You Ever Just Want To Jump Off A Roof And Splat

If you jump off a building with an umbrella, what is the best altitude to open it up assuring the best chance of survival?

Immediately, but you’re probably, almost certainly, going to go *splat*. The faster you are going when you open it, the more stress the structure of the umbrella is going to have to absorb, so the sooner, the better. But very few umbrellas are going to have the structural capacity to support your weight even at minimal falling velocity (which will be reduced assuming it stays intact, but still not trivial).Maybe a good patio umbrella with wooden slats and canvas canopy will be able to handle it. Anything you would normally carry around is going to turn inside out or rip loose from the structure.

If you jump off of a roof with an umbrella, will you float down?

It will by creating friction against the air, but it will not slow you down to the point you wouldn't get hurt from the fall. You would need a massive umbrella with a very thick material that could handle your weight, like a parachute. Parachutes work on the same concept, but look at their size and construction versus an umbrella.

At what height does a cat not land on its feet and just go splat?

I've read of a miracle cat falling 10 stories and landing on her feet and being fine; my son threw my cat down a flight of stairs to see if she'd land on her feet and it dislocated her hip, precipitating and emergency trip to the vet. We'd JUST moved into our new home and had no idea where to go, so I ran to the neighbor who told me the nearest vet and how to get there. I made my son come along and watch the whole thing; her pain, the exam and x-rays, making her go to sleep so they could put the leg back into the socket and put her in a body sling for two weeks. I also made him clean up her litter box for 6 months and listen to a talk from the vet, who said,A cat can fall from a short distance and miss landing and hurt herself or from a high fall and land on her feet. But you should NEVER EVER throw a cat from anywhere to see if they can do it. That's wrong, that's abusive. How would you like it if someone did that to you? (He answered no, that wouldn't be nice and he was sorry he'd hurt our Missy.) The Vet told him how to care for her in the sling and we had to bring her back in a week to get another x-ray to see if her hip was healing. When we got home, I made him write an essay about hurting animals in the name of "fun" and if it was right or not and how the animal would feel about it. He wrote a good paragraph and became a good animal caring person. Please don't throw cats around just to see if they land on their feet. It's a cruel thing to do. They have feelings, they get scared, they get hurt. Treat an animal like you want to be treated.

What are the most fun things to throw off of your roof?

4 litres of milk.... water balloons of paint..... water balloons....mannequins...... puppies..... children..... old people....other roofs

Is it concerning to have a dream about jumping off a building?

You don't give adequate information. You didn't give your gender, nor did you say how high the building was. Therefore I can only give a broad general answer. To be up on a tall building, if in fact it was tall , symbolically speaks to being high up in the realm of the intellect including the imagination.Given the dream has you jumping off says that you need to be more grounded, down to earth, and much less in your intellect and imagination.Since you say you've been anxious can be part of the dream, for to resolve problems in life and living it's important to be down to earth, and in everyday reality as opposed to being in your imagination.Generally speaking a playground is a place of spontaneous fun without regard for the complexity of life. This does not mean you can escape from the complexities of life by taking on a care free existence. It does mean you may be taking some of life's difficulties too seriously, and not relaxing enough. It's a balance of doing what you realistically can do to move through life taking care of necessary business and life events, and at the same time staying grounded. This attitude of doing what you realistically can do can be balanced with an attitude of more playfulness. Each of us is limited to what we can control and resolve in life. Doing what you can do then letting go of what you can't do takes practice. This practice can be helped by living life on earth in everyday reality.Best wishes.

Why is it that if you drop an ant or other insect off of a building it can walk away unscathed, but if I jump off said building, I get serious injuries that require medical attention?

figure out what terminal velocity is and how to calculate. You will find that with your weight you terminal velocity is much higher than an ants.Terminal velocity is how fast something can fall based on aero dynamics, weight, gravity and height (you may never reach terminal velocity from a one story roof, but the ant will)Think about it if there is 10mph crosswind how much will it push you off target? Now the ant on the other hand will be blown sideways and never hit the ground until the wind decreases.wind resistance has a huge effect on small mass/ large surface area objects

What question do you ask a basketball player from indiana?

There were 3 basketball players, one each from IU, Notre Dame, and Purdue, standing on a burning roof in Indianapolis. The fire department came with a blanket and yelled to the Notre Dame player to jump. He jumped and they moved it to the right. He hit the sidewalk with a splat.

They then called to the IU player to jump. He said that he wouldn't jump. They said they liked IU better than Notre Dame. So he jumped and the fire department moved the blanket to the left.

The IU player hit with a splat on the sidewalk. Then they called to the Purdue player to jump. He said that he wouldn't jump.

The fire department said they hated IU and Notre Dame. He yelled back and said, "Lay the blanket down, and then I'll jump!"

If I jump off a building, will I die from the impact of hitting the ground or from the fright in midair?

You would certainly die from hitting the ground, and not at any point prior to that during the fall.In the time frames involved with jumping from a building (1 - 17 seconds) you really just do not have enough time to die. Without significant trauma to the brain stem, you are going to live (conscious or unconscious) until you hit the ground. The quickest deaths that can result purely from internal forces would probably be attributed to sudden cardiac arrest or similar devises that interrupt flow of blood to the brain. An aneurysm or brain herniation could potentially kill faster, but you do not develop an aneurysm AND have it burst all within several seconds. So let’s see…you jump, the fear immediately screws up your nervous system’s electrical signaling to the heart, and you suffer a sudden cardiac arrest. Oxygen is no longer being supplied to the brain. How long you remain conscious would probably vary from maybe 5 seconds - 30 seconds (?). From there you still won’t be dead for another few minutes.Depending on how high up jump from, you may or may not lose consciousness before you hit the ground, but you will still be technically be alive regardless. There is no such thing as a truly “instant death” unless you obliterate the brain with force.
