Do You Go To The Doctor For Regular Exams Or Do You Only Go If Something Is Seriously Wrong With

How do you get a GP to take you seriously?

Don't give up! Change doctors if you have to (if you can) or just make the appointment yourself. Remember that they are just human, and they don't know everything. Remember, also, that they are working for YOU (like the plumber or the nanny would be) - if it weren't for the people that pay them they'd be out of a job. If you think of them as just another "employee" and not a "god" you'll be in a better place to insist that they treat you with respect. I mean, what does "someone like you" mean?? I'd take that as an insult and find a new doctor!

Can a doctor tell when the last time you had sex was?

well i had a UTI about a week or two ago and its better now....and the doctor said that when i finish my medication to go to my regular family doctor....well my family doctor asked my mother if i was sexually active....i've been telling my mother no for obvious reasons!! and my mother said "well the doctor said she could find out when the last time you had sex was"

is this true? or is she just trying to scare me.

I’m 14 and I have to go to my physical exam, what will the doctor look at? Will he look at my private parts? I’m really nervous about it.

It depends on why you are having a physical exam. If there is a problem with a particular part in your body, then the doctor will look at that part and will examine the regular stuff as well, i.e. take your blood pressure, look in your mouth/throat, use the stethoscope to listen to your chest/heart, etc. There is nothing to be afraid of if the doctor does look at your privates as you are there for the purpose of the doctor finding out what is wrong with you. They are not at all interested what you look like physically. They have seen many children and adults and their private parts. Take a couple of big breaths and relax and you will be perfectly fine. They are not there to judge you whether you are muscular, etc.

How often should you go to the doctor?

The two main reasons to see a doctor are sick-visits (for when you have complaints) or well-visits.Physical exams or well-visits should be done once a year and it is needed to check your over-all wellbeing, even though you have no complaints. Is usually is composed of:Checking your vital signs. Blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, if you complain of being feverishHistory- previous hospitalizations, complaints, genetic risks, they’s want to know if you’re smoking? drinking? etc.Head to toe assessment (breast for females, testicles if you’re a male, and rectal exam unless you sign a waiver)Heart& Lung exams/ X-ray/ ECGBlood works (Complete blood count/ blood glucose/etc)Urine/ Fecal examThe annual physical exam is a great opportunity to refocus your attention on prevention and screening, because not all symptoms are obvious, and not all conditions have early symptoms.

Too embarrassed to go to gyno...serious replies please?

first, i do not know any of us women who love the gyno and most of us are self conscious, uncomfortable, embarassed, etc. but it has to be done. whether you have had sex or not there can still be things going wrong in there. so many types of cancers, you know. second, i feel best to have a female doctor and maybe you would too. next time at your regular check up with your doctor just tell her how you have never had one due to feel so anxious, fearful, whatever- and she will talk with you about it. maybe she can work with you like not making you be completely undressed. maybe she can just do the breast exam first and maybe make another appointment for pap. just think if something was found out (like a cancer) and then all the treatment you would go through and so many doctors/nurses would be seeing you, in the end you would be like why didnt i just go do it! it is uncomfortable and we worry what someone will think about us but trust me the gyno doctors and nurses have seen all different skin colors, shapes, sizes, hair, etc. related to vaginas, lol, and how yours looks will not be a concern to them. my aunt had endometriosis in late teens-early twenties and she was never able to have children. even if you do not want children you should not let this go. also you are 30 and period changes can be related to hormone changes or different things, you know. your health and life is more important than the embarassment. i was this way too and waited to mid 20s to go for the first time. its just something we need to do to make sure everything is ok. it is one of the best prevention and early diagnosis for cervical and breast cancer. have courage next time to tell your doctor and/or therapist that something has been bothering you and you are so embarassed but you have never gone and how can you work through your anxiety to this. you will be ok! imagine millions of women get them all the time...if you need fear to push you then look up stories about women who never went and found cancer in such late stages and the outcome is worse then your 20 minute appointment of embarassment. every women has a vagina, nothing to be embarassed of.

I have not had my period in 2 months but I took five pregnancy tests and they were all negative. What could be wrong with me?

Original Question: “I haven't had my period in 2 months and my pregnancy test says negative. What's wrong with me?”Your body weight could be too low.Is is somewhat common for female athletes, like runners, soccer team, competitive ice skaters, etc. to stop having periods. Estrogen is stored in the fat tissue. If your BMI falls too low, sometimes only as low as 15% body fat, you may stop having periods. You could still get pregnant so use protection. At some point, sometimes, female athletes could stop ovulating as well. You might just be young. It takes a while for periods to become regular for some girls. You may have become deficient in dietary iodine. In my family, with some of my relatives, periods were very irregular. Example: My mother used to have her periods as close as every 22 days to as far apart as 62 days. Once she started her “iodine rations”, her doctor prescribed, things became regular. (side note —- I was suppose to be a ‘Christmas baby’—- ha-ha. I was born two months later. It was almost March !) She later switched to kelp tablets to keep her regular. You may still be pregnant—- with false negative tests.See your doctor! You may be under rather extreme stress.Only you know this. There may be a whole list of other medical or hormonal reasons.Again — see your doctor.I hope everything is fine, and it all works out soon for your peace of mind.

If doctors find weed in your blood/urine, will they report it to the police?

Nine times out of ten no they're not going to report a positive drug test to the police unless you have been involved in some type of other crime and it is relevant for them to do so.There are some people that have to see doctors under court orders and if they fell a drug test the doctors are required to note that but if you're asking if you go to your regular primary doctor or emergency room to be seen by a doctor and you are not currently involved with some type of criminal or Social Service case and no other crime has been committed if you test positive for marijuana or some other illegal drug no the doctor is not going to call the police on you. If the doctors called the police on every body that failed a drug test that's all police and the court system would be able to. They would be busy with just that 24/7. With that being said that does not mean that the doctor will not document the fact that you failed a drug test for whatever illegal substances they find in your system. You will probably be flagged and they will probably test you every time you go after that and they will hold that against you in several different ways. It will affect how they treat you the medications they treat you with how serious they take you and it will affect and be documented on your medical record.

13 days late, preg. from oral sex?!?

I'm 16, have had my period for a little over 3yrs. My period's 13 days late, and I have absolutely no signs of it coming. No sore breasts which I always have. I have a very bloated stomach though. And my face broke out a little last week.

I'm still a virgin, but I had oral sex. I only gave him head. and just to be on the safe side I took a preg. test Saturday to be sure, and it was negative, it was one of those clear blue easy tests. Last week I had 2 days of tiny spots of brownish stuff when I only whipped. I heard that was a sign of being preg. and it really scares me. I’ve also been kind of tired lately, and my boobs seem kind of swollen, but that could just be in my mind. I've had a lot of discharge like 2 wks ago, and some every day now.

I've had a change in diet for 4 months now. I don't eat a lot of junk food, very healthy for my age, a lot of water. I exercise when I can, not heavily or anything. I have a tiny cold. I weight 105ish and have a 10%ish body fat, last checked in September. I have found 3 lumps in the sides of my neck. I don't know if that would affect it. I’m going to the doctors in a little bit to get it checked.

for the last few months my period have been 2wks, 1 wk, and 11 days late. Why isn't it here? Or have any signs? Could I be pregnant?
