Do You Like Internet Memes

What is an "internet meme"?

A meme is basically something that someone finds somewhat comical (though the creators of said thing may not have intended it to be so) and decides to share it with one of their friends, who shares it with one of their friends, who shares it with one of their friends, etc. until eventually a large number of people know about it (on the internet). Memes gain popularity through their somewhat comical notions or just the ridiculousness of them. Examples include: the arrow in the knee joke, "I herd u leik mudkipz", "all your base are belong to us", Rick-rolling, "It's over NINE THOUSAND!!!!", the list goes on. Normal people/people who rarely if ever frequent the darker areas of the internet (4chan) often never know about these memes or do not find them comical at all.

Can you name all the internet memes?

You know, those probably aren't even ALL the Internet memes.

Do you hate Internet Memes?

"You lost the game..." "U mad bro?" "Cool beans..." "Herp a derp".

I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY THESE THINGS IN REAL LIFE!!

Where do Internet Memes go when they die?

Get a new priest.

What internet meme are you most like?

Memes simplify emotions down to easy, recognizable forms that people below the average national IQ can recognize. To make a joke funny, I don't need to see a face that tells me how to react to a certain situation.

So clearly my favourite is the troll face.

What do old people think about internet memes?

You might as well ask what old people think of jokes. My answer would be the same.We think the ones we understand and agree with are funny. We think the others are puzzling and/or stupid. If (for instance) we don't watch Game of Thrones, we probably won't enjoy GoT memes. Of the memes shown in the question details, I get the Harambe memes and think they're slightly funny. I don't get the “World War II” memes at all and don't think I'd like them if I did, but I'm open to an explanation.I'm glad to see the explanation of the “howbow dah” meme offered in Alix Weich Dahlen's answer, because I'd been wondering what that was all about.Animal memes are pretty easy to understand. I think most older people like those and think they're funny. So if you want to send your grandmother a meme, make it a cat.

Who creates internet memes?

Most people creates an internet memes to attract attention to a topic or an idea they wanted to get across to many. Of course, the most viral type are funny or absolutely tailor to a particular group of community.Industry influencers are most looped into this and they helped to push it to the next level.I have made 2 full courses on Internet memes. What is a "meme"? I keep on seeing this word on the internet. Would you mind if I ask for this word's meaning?

It doesn't have to be related to the internet -- Dawkins coined it in the 70s long before 4chan got ahold it. it's a 'mind virus' -- an idea that propagates itself.

"A meme (pronounced /ˈmiːm/, rhyming with 'cream') is a postulated unit of cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through speech, gestures, rituals or other imitable phenomena. (The etymology of the term relates to the Greek word μιμητισμός (pronounced /mɪmetɪsmos/) for 'something imitated'.) Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes, in that they self-replicate and respond to selective pressures."

Religion is a meme.

How did Internet memes become so popular?

I think you are referring to today’s memes, correct? The first ever meme I really experienced was "This is Sparta" back in 2007, so I was about 10 years old.I know when YouTube was fairly new, memes weren’t entirely recognized as ‘memes’ more like they were called ‘YouTube poops’ which is a slightly different type of ‘meme’ than the memes we have seen nowadays on Vine, Instagram, etc since 2012-present year. Even only in 13 years, memes have definitely changed their sensation and variety. If you are asking when did memes, or ‘internet jokes’ themselves, became a thing in general, it was since 1999. Since an Internet joke may stay the same or may evolve over time, memes have been across many platforms, such as messageboards and social media accounts, because they allowed a simple method for people to share the jokes (or memes) with a diverse population of internet users in a short period of time.Basically, 2006 - 2009 was the golden age of YouTube hahaIn my opinion this meme……primarily has a different uproar to this memeBut in all honestly, they are still memes and we love them, hahaMemes are memes, and will always be.
