Do You Pick Up Your Dogs Poop When You

Do you pick up your dog's poop?

Yes, I pick my dogs poop up everytime . It's the decent thing to do. It's not just dirtying your neighborhood. It's a chance to infect other animals or even your own dog if you come across other animals poop. there's many intestinal parasites that dogs can have and poop out. Now if my dog had round worms I wouldn't want to chance to infect someone else pet and I'd hope other dog owners would feel the same way and just pick up the poop.

Do you pick up your dogs poop when you're on a walk with him/her?

...........................................

I don't think you all are really understanding my question.

It's not about courtesy, it's not about what is EXPECTED of you to do.
It's a question of what is really BETTER FOR THE ENVIORNMENT.

***** Wouldn't it be better for the environment to let the poop biodegrade on it's own, instead of using a plastic bag or a (quite possibly falsely) marketed "biodegradable" bag and it ending up in a landfill somewhere?**********

I don't want your judgements on whether or not I have good qualities as a person depending if I throw my dogs S H I T away or how you think my language reflects how I feel about people in general... because honestly I just don't care what you have to say about it. That's not why I asked the question.

I wanted LEGIT proof that throwing away the poop is better for the environment than just letting it biodegrade on it's own. I want to know SCIENTIFICALLY why it's

Do you pick up your dog’s poop when walking him?

Yes. I also add in the occasional dried one near by. I have taken to carrying a 'grabber' type tool, and I pick up the trash of all manner that we come upon, or the dogs bring to me during our walks. People say they are afraid of pit bull type dogs, but with all the broken glass, paper, plastic, shoes, I mean, if it is not your job to pick up after yourself, and you further have no compassion for my dogs who come to me with their paws cut up, or I pull a used condom out of one of their mouths. I worry about my dogs health, everything interests them. People will drop their trash next to an empty can. I had some snarky peel and stick 'slogans' that I put around. they have things like: 'If this place is trashed when you get here, use it anyway, then add your trash to the mess.' And, 'Litter bugs are annoying little insects, please pick up all the trash to keep them away.' And others.....

Do you honestly pick up your dog's poop?

if he poops it, i pick it up ... i live in the city ... and his poops are so tiny, i feel it is almost environmentally unfriendly to use a bag every time, but i respect the law and scoop ... but i do think there is a difference between city and rural folk, cuz once i went to visit a friend who lives on a small island (only 80 people live on the island) and when i went to scoop when my dog pooped, he told me not to ...

Not picking Dog poop... What can I do?

Well... We are just normal people who never interfere in others business, who moved to the community two years ago. The community is a friendly community. Most of the people walk through our part of the sub division lives the other side of it. So they really shouldn't be disappointed about our behavior other than the fact that I am an Asian. Race is not an issue in our community or the city itself because its one of the greatest communities in the country to live (Naperville, IL). My immediate neighbors are very appreciative of us for keeping the yard and garden as neat as it could be.

When picking up your dog's poo with a plastic bag, how much protection does the bag offer from germs transferring to your hands?

Enough. Here’s the deal: if you’re living with pets, or babies, or other people, there is an enormous amount of germ transfer between all of you, simply from sharing the same space. Your body can manage it.If you are afraid of germ transfer through plastic bags from taking care of your dog, you should not live with a dog. Or a cat, or a bird, and I’d even hesitate to recommend goldfish.Wash your hands when you come home from the walk. It’s not hard. You should do that anyway.

Why should dog owners pick up after their dogs? Isn't dogs pooping outdoors natural?

The way you phrase this makes me think you live in an area where multiple people have told you to clean up after your dog. Here, picking up poop isn’t for your own dogs benefit, its for the benefit of people around you. No one wants to step in your dogs crap and spend the afternoon cleaning their shoes. Plus it smells and it ends up just being unpleasant for the community. I live in an apartment complex and they have a very small “dog walking” area that is littered with dog poop that people don’t pick up. It’s gross, a health hazard, and not even my own dog walks there anymore. Pick up after your dog in consideration of others. If you own your own house and your dog is pooping in your backyard you have your right to leave it but in this case be considerate of your dogs health. Not only are you sending them off into a zone of biological hazard where they’re liking playing in their own shit but dogs have a habit of eating it too and it can make them super sick! Not only that but you’re misunderstanding the ‘natural’ part of pooping outdoors. Even if dogs did live in the wild they wouldn’t be confined to a half-acre space of land. They’d be able to travel miles of nature and probably never come across their own droppings.Pick up after your dog.

Picking up dog poop. When I clean up after my dog is a tissue folded in half twice a sufficient barrier to pick it up and place it in a bag?

Tissues are made to be ABSORBENT. And then they get sticky…yuckSimple and cheap answer….If you don’t get a newspaper…(Gol-Darn this new digital age of News Delivery!) perhaps you regularly throw away supermarket flyers or the big fold-up sales flyers from the local Mall stores.Instead, Bin them! When you need to walk the pooch, grab two flyer sheets.A Large Supermarket flyer, double folded is adequate comfortable separation between your hands and doggy poo. With Newspaper or flyers paper, you don’t get the moist, tacky tactile sensation that only Poo can give you. This is why I can’t use plastic Poo bags. The Plastic separates my hand from the poop…but tactile-ly, my hand keeps telling me: EWWW! POO-POO! You’re holding Poo-Poo!With Newspaper, My hand tells me: Okay. It’s yucky, but if we just hold it by the neck until we reach the garbage can, we’re okay.Bonus— You get to read the funnies before you pick it up.Double Bonus— There’s probably a local ordinance on the books for failure to pick up after your dog. Look it up. All it takes is a cop who’s had a bad day, who doesn’t like dogs or just had to clean off the sole of his boot. Being in the habit of picking up avoids that very expensive smackdown. However, if diarrhea strikes…all bets are off. I walk away real fast!
