What do Syrian people think about Russian involvement in Syria?
I was in Syria as journalist, in government held areas. At that time, everybody thought of me as Russian, as I spoke Croatian, a Slavic language similar to Russian. Most of the people in government held areas greeted me and saluted to Putin. To them, Russia and Putin is a savior.It is true - before Russian intervention, in autumn of 2015, Syrian Army was in very bad shape and morale - losing big towns like Idlib, Jisr al-Shougur, Palmyra, Abu Duhur airbase…with no hope to end the war.Today, the situation is completely different. Morale is back, ISIS is defeated and the battle rages in rebels motherland - Idlib. Syrian Army is winning the war thanks to Russia.My trip from Damascus:I can’t tell how is the situation in rebels held areas, but I think it is obvious - the opposite. Also, I don’t know how is it in Kurdish territory.

I see all these news headlines about Syria all the time and I have no idea what's happening there. I like to be informed, so could someone give me a brief summary of what's taking place in Syria?
What do Russian citizens think of their government's involvement in Syria?
1st of all the Syrians invited Russia to help out, so it’s not an intervention.2nd if Syria would have fallen to the terrorists the next target would have been Russia. Cause the terrorists would have used Syria as a base to attack the Russian south through the Caucuses and Central Asia. ( They still will try but their potential is weakened.)3rd the Russian army learned to fight in a new environment against some of the toughest foes.4th the Russia Military tested new weapons in a new environment.5th Russia will now have a permanent presence in the Mediterranean.6th Russia has changed the tide of war and is actually winning it.In 2008 Russia won the war against Georgia stopping the genocide of Ossetian people. In 2014 Took back Crimea. Since 2015 Russia is exterminating terrorists in Syria.All these 3 events have made Russia and its Armed Forces much much stronger.Geo-politically we are also in a much better position.Lets face it we Russians are a fighting nation, we have fought, we are fighting, and we will continue to fight. One thing is important to note here, its better to bring the fight to you enemies than let your enemies bring the fight to you.As a Russian I’m proud we have such a professional military!!!P.S.My answer seems to be very offensive to terrorist supporters LOL
