Do You Think I Will Get Into This High School And What Do I Do T Guarantee It

Do you think good results at school can guarantee a bright future??

Good results in school can help you in achieving your goals however,it also depends on what choices you make after school.

What can I do as a teenager in high school to guarantee future success?

Basically study everything from a non public school source simultaneously as regular studies. Essentially drop out, but still graduate. Then pick up a trade. Higher a coach after working a low wage job til you can get into a trade. Then with the money from a normal job, plan out something more enjoyable (move up). Or something that makes what you do worth more (move sideways). That's about it. Unless you are not white, then you can get all kinds of government loans, grants, subsidies and possibly full ride training scholarships. All based in race and gender. But if you are white you don't really get government support and it's a long hard path growing skills in a trade unless you hit the lottery and someone gives you a job.But there is a reason white people are the number one race on welfare.

What is the biggest “trap” that people fall into while in high school?

Deciding your GPA is more important than your life.Too many people overload their course schedules with AP/IB and honors classes, only to realize the classes are far above their level. Even for the people who can handle the material, often there aren’t enough hours in the day to do all the studying and homework you need to do to be successful in the class. All of this leads to stress and late nights, which leads to suffering academic performance. This leads to more stress, anxiety, depression, and generally poor mental/emotional/physical health.Taking every AP class your school offers isn’t going to guarantee you get into the top colleges. Finding something you’re passionate about and spending time on that isn’t a guarantee either, but it will definitely help you out just as much, and you’ll be a much happier person.Adding on to that, don’t join every academic club/EC at your school in the hopes that it’ll guarantee college admission at every school you want. There is no magic formula to get into college, but most colleges are looking for people, not robots. Don’t be a robot.Spend your four years in high school enjoying yourself and finding what you’re passionate about. Whichever path you end up on in life will be one that will be right for you. Whether you took AP Calc in high school won’t change that.

What are the requirements into getting into Midwood High School?

I'm a 8th grade student in Brooklyn, New York. I just took the SHSAT in October 2008, and received the results today. Sadly, I did not get into any of the my preferred high schools. The Main Round results will be distributed in March 2009, in around a month and a half. Since my category is Top 2%, I can automatically get into a Ed-Opt school if I put it first. I put Midwood as my first choice, and Murrow as my second. Is there a definite chance that I will get into Midwood or Murrow? My guidance counselor who does all this isn't much help, so I was thinking of asking the Yahoo! community. Thanks for your answers and help!

Do school grades determine your future?

It won't guarantee your future but it will certainly get you to where you want to go faster. I regret not doing better in school. I'm 21 and even though i have a good office job, there a lot of jobs I couldn't apply for because i dont have a degree.

If you don't believe me, look at the job listings on craigslist. So many of them require some form of degree.

Questions about high school..?

I'm going to be a freshman next year. (Finally graduating from 8th grade!!!!) But I'm super worried about high school. I applied for a program in a high school that's more difficult than other programs. It's the IB (International Bacceleraute...something like that. Lol) I'm really worried about it, though. I've heard about people passing out from stress and others crying the first day of school because of all the homework they have. Then I hear that a football player who has practice almost everyday is in the program and goes to bed at around 11, which he calls late. He only does about 2 hours of homework. When it's put like that, it doesn't sound bad.
But I'm going into an enormous school, coming from the tiniest school of life that spoon feeds us for everything. I'm worried I won't be able to handle everything.
On top of this, none of my friends are going into the same program as me. I'll have to make new friends and I'll probably have no one to sit with at lunch..

So, if you're in an IB program or something similar, how bad is it?
Can you still hang out with friends over the weekend?
Do you get the same lunch periods as other areas in the same grade?
Are there any other tips you can give me for my first year?
...Will I get lost? Lol, I can't help but think I will. That school is HUGE.

Thanks everyone!

Can I get into top US universities with these high school grades?

Grades in school. Depending on how your peers do in school, the admissions officers can determine if your grades are strong or weak. However, because there is a smaller chance that students from any given international school will apply to those top U.S. colleges, the admissions officers will have little to judge by. Still, the grade percentages seem too low.SAT 1. 1460/1600 is a fine score, especially if you did well on writing.SAT 2. 800 on physics is great. 800 on maths is great, if that is Mathematics Level 2 and not Level 1. Top colleges prefer Math 2 because of it is more advanced than Math 1 (Thank you for the edit).AP. Good job on getting a 5 on calculus. However, if you have only taken one AP exam, you will have to compensate that with taking the most advanced courses at your school. Students that get into top schools tend to take multiple AP exams.Test scores and grades are not the only factor in the admissions process. Top schools like top students, yes, but they also want top leaders, top musicians, top athletes, top minds. Each college looks for slightly different traits in people, but leadership and drive stand out as two common themes. You can't fake that, but you can learn it.Good luck!
