Do You Understand 0bama Any Better When He Says

Why can't Republicans understand that Obama did what he did for the good of the nation?

And now that Trump holds office, democrats bash the president non-stop, 24/7 for everything he says or does, just like the republicans did when Obama held office. “But have you SEEN Trump? That guy isn’t even legitimate!” - probably what you’re thinking to as a response to my statement.Republicans and democrats have different values, their brains work differently. The liberal values a sense of inclusive community, social safety and justice, social freedoms and social exploration. The conservative values order, community strength, loyalty, tradition, individuality. You can see that doing things for one counters the other. Exploring new social boundaries disrupts tradition. Centralizing healthcare in the government, raising taxes disrupts individuality (the separation of a citizen from the government as much as possible). Now Mr. Trump is causing many heart attacks because he’s the first that doesn’t seem to care for his popularity and powers through policy that favors conservative values regarding the military, taxes, healthcare, immigration, foreign affairs…etc. In other words, what you think makes America great isn’t what a republican feels makes America great. This is why what a democrat would feel is good for the nation is what a republican thinks is bad, vise versa. What you think was good for the nation was bad for the nation according to everyone who votes red.

What did Barack Obama mean when he said "After my election, I'll have more flexibility"?

What Obama said is completely routine: all politicians have more flexibility after an election because the opposition party isn’t watching them like a hawk looking for a statement or act that they can distort and use against the candidate.Knowing that the general public doesn’t know much about how the system works, the Trump camp is trying to exaggerate the importance of this very minor incident to distract attention from Trump’s Russia troubles. But it won’t work. There is no comparison between what Obama said and did, and what the Trump operation said and did.It is already known that Trump’s people colluded with Russia to interfere with an American election; indictments will almost certainly follow. If it can be shown that Trump himself colluded with Russia, he will almost certainly be impeached. Those are the facts, and political spin like this will fool some in the public but have little effect on Trump’s eventual fate.Interestingly, it seems that Trump is more concerned that the investigation will spread to Trump’s business dealings than anything else, and is issuing threats to the Special Counsel — which leads one to wonder just what it is that has him so scared.

Do you understand and share Michelle Obama’s feelings toward President Trump when she says in her book, she can never forgive him for pushing his “birther” theories, and putting her family in danger?

Sure. For Trump, It was merely a way to hijack support from the dolts who believed in the validity of such topics. Trump certainly had little, if any, regard for the collateral effects his assertions might have on the Obama family or anyone else. He wanted votes from any and every group, no matter how outlandish or bananas the cause might have been.Heads-up: I go a little more in-depth about my own perceptions on the reasoning behind why Trump was able to do this, below. From the beginning of his campaign, Trump effectively utilized societal discontent and even the far-right fringe groups to his advantage, making those groups believe he was representative of their interests. Obviously, he was pandering but these groups bought it all. They ate up every bit of BS Trump laid down.“President” Trump’s getting elected, as well as his enjoyment of continued support in this country is a reflection of several emotional/intellectual reactions to prior (and ongoing) policies and societal trends, which alienated bigger portions of our society than we realized. There are many people in US society today who are truly afraid of being left behind. People feel disenfranchised because they see their own relevance going extinct.Rapid change in demand for skill-sets in the workforce and backlash from the way some ridiculous “left” policies alienated portions of the population were among indicators that a candidate like Trump could capitalize in the 2014–16 political climate.Using groups like “the Birthers” was merely a political tactic, not a genuine belief of Trump. He leveraged the cause successfully. Furthermore, whether one of his tactics hurt the families of his opponents never likely crossed his radar.

Why can't Democrats understand that how bad Obama did as President had a lot to do with Donald Trump winning the Presidency and not Hillary Clinton?

We understand that a rightwing perception of how badly he did certainly contributed. What we don’t understand is why that perception persists despite the fact that it’s utterly, provably false. He did very well as a president in fact - and almost all the claims upon which the “he did badly” was based are flagrantly false claims of things that never happened at all.Lets take an example. Circa 2010 the Army went to do training exercises in Texas. Texans were up in arms - they called it a preparation to declare martial law and end the constitution and all sorts of other evil conspiracy theories. The governor of the state even gave an order to the state guard to observe the exercises and attack the US army if they impede Texan’s rights ! Angry Texans showed up at townhalls were Army colonels were explaining what they were doing and accused them of being there to establish martial law and refused to believe “no” for an answer. The worst thing is - Obama hadn’t started this. The Army has been having regular training exercises in Texas for DECADES - in the past Texans WELCOMED them - they bring a lot of people in who are customers in Texan businesses and give the local economies a nice big boost. Governor Perry even had a red-carpet event to welcome them when they did exercises there during his administration under Bush Jr.Here we are, 9 years later. Obama is no longer president. He never did actually declare martial law in Texas, or anywhere else. He never passed gun control (although he wanted to after Sandy Hook). Never instituted Sha’ria Law. Never surrendered in a war. Never … any of the shit he was accused of doing. We spent 8 years hearing republicans accuse the president of being about to do the craziest shit - and he never did any of it. And now we have to spend the rest of forever listening to republicans talk as if he DID do them. What we don’t understand is why facts and reality has no impact on what republicans actually believe about the world. That said, do not overestimate even that perception. Obama left office with one of the highest approval ratings in history. The vast majority of Americans clearly did not think he did a bad job as president - in fact, they seemed to think he did a fantastic job.

What did Obama mean in his race speech when he said "we have a choice in this country?

"For we have a choice in this country.
We can accept a politics that breeds division, and conflict, and cynicism. We can tackle race only as spectacle – as we did in the OJ trial – or in the wake of tragedy, as we did in the aftermath of Katrina - or as fodder for the nightly news. We can play Reverend Wright's sermons on every channel, every day and talk about them from now until the election, and make the only question in this campaign whether or not the American people think that I somehow believe or sympathize with his most offensive words. We can pounce on some gaffe by a Hillary supporter as evidence that she's playing the race card, or we can speculate on whether white men will all flock to John McCain in the general election regardless of his policies.

We can do that.

But if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we'll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.

What did Obama mean when he said you can keep your current plan?

He meant you wouldnt be able to keep your plan.

Lying is a technique by which politicians further their goals

Obama says he will "let the Bush tax cuts expire." So, explain to me how he will lower your taxes?

It's always interesting how Democrats define "fair taxes". They don't believe in equality in it's true definition. It's 45% for you, but 30% for me because I make less. They like to play fast and loose with the definitions.

Is President Obama considered black considering his mother is white and he was not raised by a black family?

It's his choice to self-identify as whatever he pleases, especially because he does have the biological backing to do it. I always think it's so funny that I have to self-identify as Asian, when clearly a lot of people use that term to refer to Chinese, Korean and Japanese people (among others). To actually address your question: I can understand why you would think it would be "racist" for Obama to pick a side.  Although I'm not mixed race, I guess I fall on the "American Born Confused Desi" spectrum, and I can tell you that the peers of my generation are all pretty widely scattered around this spectrum.  Some of them are so white-washed, the only thing I have in common with them is brown skin.  Some of them, like me, try desperately to hold on to vestiges of desi culture that our equally desperate parents tried to impart in us while growing up.  When asked whom I pledge allegiance to patriotically, I say the following: Canadian by citizenship and support for healthcare, American financially, and Indian at heart.  What a muddle.  The barista at the NYC Starbucks didn't believe me when I pronounced the accent grave in crème, being a stubborn Canadian, claiming damn it, I took French in high school.  Sardonically, he said, "it's cream, lady.  Cream."  Crushing my stupid Canadian Indian American heart.  In different circumstances, different aspects of my Americanness, Canadianness and Indianness stand out.Outwardly, I just find it easier to say, hey, I'm Indian.  Obama has an equally, if not more diverse background.  Being black, from my understanding, can be a defining trait in your life, much the same way my brown skin defines me.  And it's not racist to identify yourself with that.
