Do Young People Of Today Ever Listen To Blues

Do people still listen to old school?

Nothing compares to old school. Doesn't mean I don't jam to some newer or underground rap every once in a while, but it's all about that Wu Tang, Bone Thugs, NWA, Westside Connection, 2Pac, Biggie, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, Snoop, and all the rest of the 90's rap.

Why don't black people listen to Blues music anymore?

It is THEIR music and yet they completely ignore it. You'd have a hard time finding any black person under the age of 60 who can even name 10 Blues artists. White people love the sh*t, but to be honest they really can't pull it off the way black people can. Another 20 years and all the greats that are left will be dead and then what? It really is a shame...

Why don't black people listen to the blues?

I play in a blues band and we play all over the world and if not for white people the blues would be dead. It is there heritage, there own music not this rap crap. I hear guys talking about there heritage this and that but the blues started all this other music from rap to country to jazz. go figure

What kind of music do the most intelligent people listen to?

Typically smart people listen to music what appeals to their own taste, while stupid people listen to music which appeals to their group of reference. Smart people tend to be individualists while the lesser endowed of the cerebral performance tend to be herd souls. But there is a correlation - not causation - between IQ and musical taste; the higher one’s IQ is, the more he or she prefers complex melodies and lyrics, while the lower it is, the higher preference on rhythm. There is also a weird - really weird - correlation between latitude and musical preference: the closer one’s home is the Equator, the higher the preference of ‘light’ musical styles like reggae, soca or calypso, while the higher the latitude and closer to poles, the higher the preference of ‘dark’ musical styles like heavy metal. Unfortunately, latitude and IQ has also correlation: the average IQ tends to be the lowest on Equator and rise towards both poles, North and South. My own experience is that the most intelligent people tend to prefer classical music and prog metal. The reason is simple: classical music is extremely complex and full of all kinds of melodic and harmonic variations and decorations - and prog metal is today’s classical.Other “heavy” or “hard” styles, such as nerdcore, death metal, hero metal, experimental rock, progressive rock and art rock tend to be also popular amongst the highly intelligent. If someone likes Queen, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, David Bowie or Led Zeppelin, he or she is likely to be quite bright. Many highly intelligent are also into jazz, bepop, jazz rock and crossover styles.

Why do young people hate old music?

Why do old people hate newer music? You have griped about the current music in both the other q's I answered? While I would argue that artists arent putting as much heart into their work today, there is nothing evil and wrong about the music, no more than there was when you were listening to it back then and the elders of your time said the same things about it.

I actually like a lot of it, and just wrote an essay calling Bo Diddley and Rock around the clock with bill haley the first rock and roll songs.

However, the temp is slower, the attitude is more like that of r&b or blues than rock. Metal music isnt satanic.

Modern country is about what rock was in the 50s and 60s. Which is really closer to pop with a twang than what i think of when I think of country music.

Its just a difference in taste. Thats not wrong or bad. You know the elders of your day called YOUR music evil as well, right? In fact, most of the first "rock" songs were sooooo "evil" they werent allowed much radio play, and other artists had to come out with softer versions in order to gain mainstream approval. And that is what produced your pop - watered down rock songs.

Teenagers who hate today's music, what do you listen to?

I'm more into Classic stuff - Beatles, Who, Hendrix, I've been going through this phase of The Doors.
An some of the mainstream stuff coming out isn't horribe like The Gaslight Anthem and The Black Keys are really cool.
