Does anyone have a good Gandule Rice recipe?

Gandule Rice

Ingredients:
1 cup vegetable oil
3 pounds pork shoulder, cubed
3 tablespoons achiote (annatto) seeds
2 cups chopped onion
2 cups chopped fresh cilantro
12 cloves garlic, crushed
2 tablespoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can pigeon peas, drained
15 ounces black olives, pitted and halved
8 cups uncooked calrose rice, rinsed
9 cups water

Steps:
1. Heat 2 tablespoons of the oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Add pork and brown in oil. Meanwhile, place remaining oil in a small saucepan over medium heat and add achiote seeds. Heat until oil becomes very dark orange/red. Remove from heat and set aside.

2. To the browned pork add the onion, cilantro, garlic, salt and pepper. Cook to reduce veggies, then add the tomato sauce, pigeon peas and olives. Mix well. Strain achiote/oil mixture into pork mixture and stir together. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes.

3. Add uncooked rice and water to pork mixture; stir well. Raise temperature to high, cover saucepan and bring all to a boil. Stir again, reduce heat to low and cover; let cook on low about 10 minutes. Remove cover, stir again, replace cover and cook another 10 minutes; stir again. Remove from heat and allow to stand 15 minutes.

Good luck & enjoy! =)

Jewish brownies??? Does anyone have a recipe for these?

Hi,
So I just had a flashback to like 10 years ago when I lived w/ a Jewish family in Illinois. We went 2 a SuperBowl party @ the synagogue & I, of course, was not interested in football. So I ended up playing bingo w/ a bunch of like 90 yr old women.

Don't get me wrong, it was actually quite fun. I had a good time. I am just trying 2 paint u a picture here.

So, all the guys & some of the gals are in 1 room with a big screen tv watching the game & the rest of the gals (mostly old ones) r in the social hall playing bingo & having a great time. (I won a pill crusher!! Woot, woot!)

Anyhow, this old lady came along passing out treats & I took this chocolate something-or-other. It seemed like a cross between cake & brownies. It was so different than anything I had ever had b4.

I asked what it was & was told it was "Jewish Brownies". That is all I remember.

Does anyone have this recipe? I would love 2 try and make them!

Oh, I just love it when good memories come back!!!

How do I become a good programmer in C?

I'm going to start with the things I didn't take too seriously: Internet tutorials, blogs and almost anything brought by Google. I usually considered those sources unreliable and potentially harmful.Like a lot of people in the industry I used to Google way too often. Overtime I found the illusion of speed and the inaccuracy of the answers to be counter-productive.No website is as good as a good book. And no good book is as good as a disassembly output.C Programming Language (aka: K&R) - The classic and first book you should read about C.It will be easy to pick up as it is a 272 pages, 386 grams book. Short and full of well explained code samples it was written by the fathers of the language Kernighan and Ritchie themselves. It is all you need to know about C…for the first few weeks. It is fun to read, keeps things short and will get you going in no time. You will probably skip the Annex A (about obscure things like promotions, decaying, conversions and other useless things) and Annex B about the C Library…and I think it's ok for the beginning. This book makes C appears very small and simple so it is very encouraging to learn. If you keep on practicing and learning you will soon hit some strange situations.Expert C Programming - This book is fantastic because it will bring your attention to what happens under the hood in a very entertaining way.Through numerous bug anecdotes and trivia (mostly NASA based) the reader will be introduced again to integral promotion, subscripting, decaying and many other C marvels. This book is so captivating that you will probably read the 353 pages within a night and be disappointed it was so short.C: A Reference Manual - This is the ultimate C/C89/C99 book. The true cold boring truth that you will deal with from now on. You can put K&R and ECP back on the shelves and keep this one besides the screen monitor. Anything you want to know is there.Source (free pdfs of above books) - To become a good C Programmer

I have had 3 c-sections and fear having a 4th. Does anyone know if it is safe to have a 4th c-section?

I have heard that it is not safe at all for the mother or the baby...this is the only thing stopping me from having another baby.. Also, is there some kind of test you can take to find out how strong your uterus is?

Thanks in advance for the responses.....

I find a nice oil painting in my storage, signed by C. Ogle. Does anyone know something about this guy?

I've just found "C. F. Ogle" and his painting shown in findartinfo, he's born in c. 1900, it's sold by 311USD at AB Stockhom. I also try to search for Ogle or C. F. Ogle, but no more result was returned. Maybe he has had no much artwork.
