Can an Android examination app take over the OS so that the person cannot cheat in the exam?
No. You can not. Not without modifying the device (by obtaining root and/or installing custom firmware).However, you COULD build an application that could tell if someone left the context of the application (in order to cheat). You would do this by acquiring a wake-lock on the screen (prevents the device from going into standby) and then detecting if your application goes into the background.If it does, you could generate a notification warning the user to return to the app in X seconds, invalidate the results of the exam, or notify a proctor.
