Does anyone have any ideas for a senior project relating to film?
Perhaps you can immerse yourself in something like scoping out theatres and seeing what kinds of people watch what kinds of movies at what kinds of times. Or watch as many movies as you can in a specified time frame and write how it's affected you. Or if you know someone who is filming a movie, you can ask to shadow them and write about what you learn.

What is a good short film idea that doesn't need a budget or any major effects?
For idea, you have to discover it yourself. When it comes to low budget filmmaking, you should consider making a one character film. This will reduce your budget as well as time. Also, most of the successful shorts are one character film. Just watch any successful film and you will find either one or two character, no more than that. For budget issues you should consider making a drama film with no more than two characters.
