GOOEY LEMON BARS

1 pkg. lemon flavored cake mix

1/4 lb. powdered sugar

Oven temperature 325 degrees. Combine cake mix, butter and 1 egg. Mix well. Pat into bottom of greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Mix cream cheese, 2 eggs and powdered sugar. Pour over bottom layer and cook for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle top with powdered sugar. Cut into bars.

What are some good restaurants in Memphis, TN?

Leonards BBQ.  The obvious BBQ recommendation when visiting Memphis is Rendezvous but for my money you can't beat Leonards.  Every time I make it back to Memphis I stop by Leonards and grab some ribs.  Check their menu but some days they have a buffet with ribs as one of the meat items with normal BBQ sides plus unbelievable sorghum rolls that you generously drip honey into to.  Lord have mercy....

Does any one know the start up cost for a hotwing restaurant/business?

Most people that start restaurants do lose money, and many lose their life savings.

The failure in the restaurant business is not due to competition though. Good restaurants with good locations stay busy. It's due to poor management systems, bad follow through, or bad marketing.

What it costs to start a hot wing restaurant is completely subjective. You can lease out an old, small restaurant building for next to nothing that has all the equipment in it, refuse to spend money on marketing, proper training of your staff, organizational tools, skilled help, interior design to fit your concept or proper signage, and you could open one for $10,000 or less.

You could also go the opposite route, going into a new upscale high rent location, fill the place with plasma screen TVs, Italian marble, mohogany furniture, brass fixtures, staff with the best paid most attractive waitresses, and spend a cool 2 million dollars to open.

Personally, I wouldn't take either route. Depending on your experience running restaurants, your knowledge of accounting and business principles, your marketing and brand building experience and experience with day to day operation of a restaurant at an owner's level, I would either create my own concept from scratch (if you're VERY experienced with all the above) or I would buy into an existing franchise (if I had very little experience in any or all of the above).

The organization and marketing of your restaurant, and your ability to implement all the systems is going to determine your success or failure, not your competition.

If you'd like more help, let me know. This is what I do. Visit http://bodellconsulting.com/restaurantpl... to see a great alternative to purchasing a franchise. There's even a concept centered around wings that can be expanded with more wing selections.

Why don't more Americans dine in Filipino restaurants?

Why don't most Americans like Filipino food? Well first of all Filipino food doesn't look very appealing, its greasy, and a lot of them are an acquired taste.

Yeah Japanese and Thai food are very trendy and Chinese is pretty much mainstream in America. Korean restaurants aren't very popular as you might think. In LA its pretty popular but a lot of that has to do with the large Korean population and influence in LA (ie Koreatown).

Anyways most non-Filipinos that I know like lupia, but that is pretty much a Chinese inspired dish. Much everything else either looks greasy, unappealing, or just flat out unhealthy. I mean I know its not right to say but Americans tend to judge things based on image (not right but its true) and Filipino food just doesn't look good to eat.

The only Americans that are really into Filipino food are the ones that are married to one. In fact Filipino restaurants just don't seem to be the 1st or 2nd choice of ethnic food among Americans.

How do you know if the Chinese restaurant is serving dogs and cats?

If you are eating in China, then if the restaurant serves dog or cat, it will list that on the menu.If you are eating in the United States, and you’re worried that your beef or chicken dish is actually dog or cat, then don’t worry. It doesn’t happen. This is a VERY old xenophobic rumor that has quite simple never been true.

What is the best old school Italian restaurant in Memphis, TN?

Memphis is blessed with some awesome Italian restaurants!Barbeque pizza was first created in Memphis, of course! The oldest Italian restaurant here, Coletta’s (opened in 1923) in my opinion, isn’t the best Italian food I’ve ever had (I’m a native Memphian-we own pork BBQ, but am most fond of some of the lesser expensive NYC Italian places) but is well loved here. It ’s the answer to your question, too. Elvis went there and later when he was beyond famous, ordered his favorite pizza from the South Parkway location (barbeque pizza- unique & DELICIOUS), which was usually picked up by one of his mafia (Memphis Mafia), Priscilla, or Colonel Parker. When I go to Coletta’s I definitely order BBQ pizza. Coletta's Restaurant - Home Page and Ask Vance: Coletta’s.Elvis also ate at this old-school Italian restaurant, Pete and Sam’s (1948), which is still a Memphis fav: Pete & Sam’s, from the ashes, celebrates 70th anniversary - The Daily Memphian and About Us - Pete & Sams. I love Pete & Sam’s.If you’re hanging out in Memphis for a while though, these are excellent:-Catherine and Mary’s: http://www.catherineandmarys.com.-Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen: http://www.andrewmichaelitaliankitchen.com-Bari Ristorante e Enoteca Bari Ristorante e Enoteca-Ciao Bella Italian Grill: Ciao Bella Italian Grill › Ciao Bella Memphis-Dino’s -40 yrs old. Are there any really good new York style pizza places in Memphis?

Milano's in Collierville at Carriage Crossing. HANDS DOWN.  I'm originally from Queens, NY and I can tell you that eating there is just like NYC pizza.  Especially since the owner grew up in Little Italy. This is the fold to eat it kind of pizza you are looking for.
