How to take a picture of a drawing without getting a shadow on it?

I'm always drawing, and, if it turned out good, I like to take pictures of it to post on Facebook, twitter, or something. Whenever I take a photo of the drawing though, There's always a shadow of me holding the camera. The only way I've found to not have the shadow is to take the picture of the drawing at an angle, which distorts the image and makes it look odd and bad.

Does anyone know how to take a picture of a drawing so that there is no shadow and that it is taken straight towards the drawing instead of at an angle?

Thanks :)

Worried about an acquaintance/facebook friend?

Whatever you choose to do, you should operate under the assumption that his bleak status messages and such are there to draw attention only. Such are never signs of suicidal intent.

It's not your job to engineer his impressions beyond reason.

Statistically speaking, but also from my experience and that of others, and last but not least social studies and articles: people who advertise depression by loneliness and status updates on a social network are never really a danger to themselves. It's just an outcry for attention, since, like you said, he isn't very social.

Serious intent is hard to spot since it's marked by total isolation, an apparently inconspicuous lifestyle with which the person in question displays no signs of depression. In fact they are uncharacteristically positive and in a permanent good mood. Strange ain't it? The cover is more real than real happiness.

How can I become an illustrator as a complete beginner in my 40s?

You need to practice a lot and develop your personal style.Your future as an illustrator depends on what kind of an illustrator you want to be, how good you become and whether you see it as a hobby or as a career.I was an advertising art director when I started illustrating professionally on the side. I showed my portfolio of work to a publisher who commissioned a children’s book from me. Since then I have developed three completely different styles, all of which have been used for books. I work as a freelance illustrator full time now, and I’m very glad to have left advertising. It was fun, but teaching children to read is more important than selling shampoo. My advice is to develop a portfolio of your illustration style. Maybe take a story and illustrate some key scenes from it, if children’s book illustration is what you are interested in.Seek constructive criticism from people who know what they are talking about. Don’t get defensive or try to argue. Practice, practice, practice. Get on a good illustration course in art school. That would provide you with a great start.

In D&D, should a beginner start with the 4th or 5th edition?

I'm pretty new the D&D community, so I've only ever played 5th edition. However, I've done my research. I've skimmed other rulebooks and watch people play and, in my opinion, you should definitely play 5th edition.5th edition is the Persian empire of editions. It takes the best from everything that's come before it, and tries to make it as easy as possible to understand. Another good thing is that, because it's more current, there's a lot of YouTube channels out there that can help show you how to start off and generally show you the ropes (DawnForgedCast is a personal favorite). Lastly, 4th edition is quite a bit different stylistically from most of the other editions, while 5th got back to the classic feel of D&D

Pencak Silat training in NYC?

The one I remember is White Crane Silat.

I found it a couple of years ago looking for White Crane Boxing.. it came up.

Watched a couple of videos.

Don't remember much about it but you should look it up.

Also, check if Silat Suffian has a branch in NYC. This is a very good school but I don't know if they have any in NYC.

Also, I remember when I lived in Phila Pa, there was a Silat Seni Gayong teacher who also taught in NYC.. I believe in Queens.

Check them all out.

Good luck.

How can I learn to draw from different angles and perspectives?

Howdy!Update 04/07/2018 -Greetings!I’m opening up a new FB group for people learning how to draw cartoons. I have free online courses coming through the pipeline, teaching a systematic, step by step process on drawing effectively.Where: https://www.facebook.com/groups/freeonlinecartooningcourse/Who is it for: Beginners & all agesWhat you are referring to is rotating your character. The technique that is needed, uses shapes to enable you to turn your character around. It’s a matter of converting your 2D drawing into a 3D object/shape.So for your head, I just don’t see a flat oval, I see a 3D sphere shaped as an oval. Here is an example from one of the workshops I run: take note of the guide lines on each face. It’s not straight, it’s curved! (2D vs 3D)Note: Mcleay Workshops is an old domain, I wouldn’t bother going there, my new website is at the bottom of this post!Watch Me Draw Big Hero Six and How I Use Shapes to Draw in 3DSome printables:here is another similar post I did today:Rob Mcleay's answer to How can I draw faces/people better?Cool, talk soon!Rob:)Who am I?I create cartooning projects to inspire and motivate new artists, check them out here.Or otherwise hit me up at my FB page Rob's World
