Marvel fans don’t hate DC. Want to know why? Because true fans are fans of both. They may prefer one over the other but they won’t bad mouth the other one out of spite.But I’m pretty sure even the fans of DC hate what had been done to the DCEU until 2017. That’s what everyone hates.Man of Steel was a good start to the DCEU in my opinion, but BvS: Dawn of Justice was a disappointment. A huge one. Now the movie was dark, but it was so mired in its own darkness that it didn’t know what it was.Then we got Suicide Squad, which was laughably bad. I don’t even know what to make of it.Wonder Woman was next. Now this movie was great. It was a stand alone origin story of a popular character and that is what Patty Jenkins focused, with Gal Gadot and Chris Pine acting it out perfectly.Another thing I loved about this movie was that it did not try to shoe horn easter eggs and references to comics, something that ruined BvS. So this movie had a good plot too. A little formulaic, but good.Then Justice League came. Like Suicide Squad, it was laughably bad. Now most of it is because Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon both directed it at different times, their different approaches ruining it, but it doesn’t change how bad this movie was.In late 2018, Aquaman came, and it was loved again. The story was a bit messy according to me but it was still great and the effects were just- WOW! James Wan knew what he was doing. The acting was great too.Now we have Shazam. I haven’t seen it yet but I have heard about how great it is too.So yes, DCEU was dark and intense but just for the sake of it. They didn’t know what to do with it all. Even star power can’t save a franchise if the people behind it don’t know what to do with it.Movies like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Shazam are great not because they are lighter but because the directors knew exactly what they were doing and did it. Also, DCEU ruined Superman in BvS and Batman in Justice League without any good reason.That is why DCEU was hated. And it wasn’t just Marvel fans but a lot of people.Now if you’re talking about The Dark Knight Trilogy, then yes they are movies based on DC characters but they are amazing because of Christopher Nolan, not DC. Whenever I watch them, they feel like Christopher Nolan movies, not DC movies. And I don’t think anyone hates them.So to conclude, Marvel fans didn’t hate DCEU. Everyone who saw how messed up it was did. But now it is headed in a good direction in the near future.
