Does Anyone Know Which Remix Of Requiem For A Dream Is This

Where have I heard the "Requiem for a Dream" song?

Other than the actual movie of course, it might have been a commercial or a different movie, apparently it was used in Lord of the Rings but I can't find the actual clip anywhere, does anyone know where it was famously used other than in the movie?

How long is "Requiem for a Tower"?

Lux Aeterna -- The original version of the song you're talking about from the film Requiem for a Dream, lasting only 4 minutes and featuring only a string quartet.

Requiem for a Tower -- The remix of Lux Aeterna used in the Lord of the Rings trailer, lasting only a little over 2 minutes (really), featuring an entire orchestra. This is the epic song you're talking about.

The 6 minute version is NOT official in any sense -- it's just a fan-made remix that became very popular. It contains clips of both Lux Aeterna and Requiem for a Tower, but it itself is not Requiem for a Tower. And for the record, there is no such song as "Requiem for a Dream" -- that's just a title people started giving the song, but that's the name of the film it came from, not the actual song.

The official Requiem for a Tower comes in 3 parts (Requiem for a Tower Mvts. II, III, and IV), each about 50 seconds long: http://www.amazon.com/Corner-Stone-Cues-Presents-Requiem/dp/B0025TNR3Q/ref=sr_shvl_album_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1270622402&sr=301-2

That was a long answer... haha. I hope it helped!

Requiem For A Dream-like songs.?

I would say so.

Personally while major bombastic themes are one thing, and certainly appreciated, I actually like when composers go out of their way to compose stuff that is technically better rather than over-wrought.

So you can get some SERIOUSLY good but quiet stuff like the soundtrack from Battlestar Galactica - Which I don't think get's NEARLY the attention it deserves. Consider this "suite" of songs which share elements on a theme.

"The Shape Of Things To Come" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tII1DSHPU...
"Violence and Variations" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYwpt092O...
"Bloodshed" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWEj8tLXE...

And a fan-video which has a rendition of "Prelude to War" which pretty much is similar to Requiem in many respects : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4VKO6DgBms

So there is that.

But when you consider the overall movement of something like Requiem, perhaps something more stirring such as this might be appropriate.

Really however you want almost anything by ES Posthumus has a whole series of songs of similar vein , popular in many movies

This from Constantine : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FJmykZeEjY

"The Molossus Overture" from Batman Begins : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZst_2xJHAI

Or this fan clip which hijacked the soundtrack from Black Hawk Down "Tribal War" and put it into a Star Trek mashup - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rkp-MI5hxVw

Danny Elfman also has a very similar body of work :

Consider the Soundtrack from Spiderman : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKbdLBTgots

Additionally, there was some work from - of all places a children's cartoon - Avatar - which suprisingly enough had some fairly talented composers, consider this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LRoqfybe-4

Hope this answers your question.

What is the best version of Requiem For a Dream?

I'm in live with this song and i want to learn it and I'm looking up the sheet music right now but it has like 15 different composers. So, instead of going through each one individually, i was just looking for the easy way out. If you got any favorites let me know :)

Can you name any songs similar to Lux Aeterna remix from clint mansell?

Oh, I love Lux Aeterna.

But anyway, stuff from Bach seems to remind me a lot of that song. Maybe even "Requiem" by Mozart. (I think)

What has been the best use of the "Requiem" music following Requiem for a Dream's release?

The most famous is probably in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers trailer (the Requiem music starts at 1:39): Another good one is Requiem for a Day Off, which is a trailer-style video that re-interprets Ferris Bueller's Day Off as a dark drama.

What's the difference between Lux Aeterna and Requiem of a Dream?

Lux Aeterna is the theme fom Requiem for a Dream. Maybe you meant the remix of the song done for the Lord of the Rings trailer? It's basically the same song but with a choral background making it sound (in my opinion) slightly more dramatic. But people always take things way out of proportion...

What is the one movie that you have seen that has changed your way of thinking, and in what ways?

NetworkI don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
