Does Burning 500 Calories From Exercise Mean I Have To Eat 500 Calories More To Prevent Weight Loss

Eating 1400 calories, burning 500 a day w/exercise, how long to lose 12 lbs?

If I knew your weight it would be easier to calculate. But by your BMI you listed I would say 1lb every 6 days. You are eating & burning just 613 calories less a day than you need. (1513-1400=113 + 500= 613.
I have lost 26 lbs in 2 1/2 months counting calories. I just had my last child too. I am 38 years old.I eat 1,000-1,500 calories a day.

To figure your daily calorie intake to maintain your weight multiply your current weight times 15. That is how many calories you need each day to maintain your weight. of course this number goes down as you lose weight. It takes 3,500 calories less than what your body needs to lose 1lb.

For example, if I weighed 130 lbs x 15 would mean I need =1950 calories a day to stay 130lbs. If I eat less and exercise and have a deficit that would total 875 calories a day. I would lose 1lb every 4 days.
875 less calories a day than I need for 4 days = 3,500. 875x4=3,500.

If I eat 1500 calories a day and burn 500 from 45 minutes of exercise on the exercise bicycle, will I lose 1000 calories a day?

If your numbers are accurate, yes, sort of.First off, you don’t lose calories, you simply have a shortfall in providing the typical daily energy needed to maintain your current body mass. What you lose is mass. microscopically. What you are describing is a starvation diet. While you may lose weight doing this at the start (assuming you can go 1000 calories short every day and otherwise meet your requirement for micronutrients, especially those required to make the enzymes that burn fat), if you stop this diet you may find that you have also set your basal metabolic rate to a lower default, one from which it will no longer budge.Weight loss should be achieved slowly by maintaining a sleight calorie deficit, one that does not undermine your nutritional needs, which become more refined and less tolerant to crappy foods as you get fitter!Shortcuts (except literal physical shortcuts), while enticing to the impatient, are most often wolves in sheep’s clothing.

How many calories do you need to burn in a day to lose weight?

yes and no. your body naturally burns a certain amount of calories a day just by functioning. for women, its usually anywhere from 1300 to 1800 a day. by cutting back on intake from that number and exercising to burn more off, you will eventually see results.

1 pound = 3500 calories, so if you want to lose 1 pound a week, you should try to have a weekly deficit of 3500 calories. this means that you should try for a daily deficit of 500.

since we dont know your bmr, ill just assume that it is 1650. by eating 1400 calories a day, you are already cutting out 250. if you exercise enough to burn 250 calories, you would have a daily deficit of 500. [500 x 7 days in a week] = 3500 deficit, or 1 pound.

--------------------------------------...
if you want to do it yourself (more accurately), here is the formula:

BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

^ the formula above is called your Basil Metabolic Rate (bmr). it calculates how many calories your body naturally burns in a day. if your body naturally burns 1800 calories a day, then consuming 1800 calories a day will maintain your weight. eating more than 1800 will result in weight gain, and less will result in weight loss. (obviously)

so for example, if you want to lose a pound a week (two is the maximum for healthy weight loss, above that is usually water weight or temporary), then cut 250 calories out of the number you get from the BMR formula (dont go below 1200, you'll just gain) and eat that many calories a day. then try burning 250 a day. this would result in a 3500 deficit over 7 days, which is equal to loss of 1 pound.

don't overstress about weight loss. a few extra calories, missing a workout or one bad night isnt a big deal, just make sure you try to make up for it and do your best to stay consistent. what really matters is that you eat nutritious foods and get plenty of physical activity throughout your whole life. weight loss is about a lifestyle change. if you want to stick to your weight once your at your goal, you cant readopt the eating habits that got you to your current weight.

sorry this was so long, and sorry if i got repetitive, but i hope i still helped. good luck! (:

If you burn 500 calories on a treadmill, will that help losing weight?

Yes. If your weight was steady before you start, and you change nothing else about your diet and lifestyle other than adding the 500 calorie treadmill workouts to your daily routine, you can expect to lose about a pound per week. The preconditions that you’re starting from a stable weight and that you change nothing else will establish that, not including the effect of your workouts, your average daily calorie consumption is pretty close to matching your average daily calorie burn. The 500 calories from your workout put you into the calorie deficit required for weight loss. This will be true, though, only if you don’t sabotage yourself. There must be no rewards for “being good”! There must be no energy bars, energy drinks, shakes, etc. before, during or after your workouts. You don’t need them or their calories.

Is burning 500 calories each day at the gym enough for trying to lose weight?

1 pound of fat = 3500 calories. You need to burn 500 calories/day to lose that one pound (500 x 7days = 3500). But the key to weight loss isn't what you do in the gym..it's what you do when you walk back outside. In the gym you tear your body down. You need to eat to build it back up but you need to eat good foods to do that.

Another approach would be to eliminate calories you take in during the day. If you eliminate 250 calories of food today you only need to burn 250 at the gym to get your 500 for the day.

The formula for losing weight has always been and always will be more calories out vs. calories in. Cool?

P.S. The people above me have it wrong. You NEED to eat more than 500 calories a day. Your body needs at least 2000 calories a day to survive. Just keep the junk food out of your body and watch the pounds go away 3500 calories at a time!
