Does it hurt getting braces?

no they do not hurt for the first 3 hours when first getting them. then it hurts a little, and you can't really eat. for thee next day, you cant eat at all. i reccomend soup and soft things like mashed potatos. th next day it finally fells better, but still a little sore. the braces might poke ur lip while your still getting used to them, but the orthadontist should give you wax to put on where it pokes your lip. take ibprofen or tylonol. hope that helps! note: don't plan any dinner dates the day after braces lol

How long does it take for you to get used to braces?

You'd take about a week or depending on the adjustments by your dentist, your sleeping routines and what kind of food you eat.By the time you will feel comfort with your new braces it will be time to go to the dentist again, and it'll hurt as bad as the first time.Your sleeping routines matter because the more irregular your sleep patterns, the more likely you'll develop ulcers and DAMN it hurts when your braces rub against it.The food you eat matters because eating less of certain kinds of foods also increases your chances of getting ulcers.Eventually you'll become accustomed to the pain, and you'll be able to take it in stride with or without painkillers. What should you do to Keep your Braces From Hurting?Don’t move your lips a lotUse wax and lots of itUse soft foodsDon’t sleep on your face

How long does a Labial Frectonomy & getting Braces fitted take?

Try frenectomy
I got braces back in the and they're no picnic.
Takes a while. As for the "frenectomy" no clue, wiki'd it though, doesn't seem that involved. The mouth is a sensitve area though. Honestly< I have broken MANY bones and I wouldn't look forward to getting braces again. Remember to liston to the ortho-dude about what U cannot eat. You'll cause serious probs. if U don't . Peace D)

I am getting braces and i am scared?

Okay okay okay chill.
1. the appointments you go to you just change out your colored ties and maybe put in a new wire or bracket.
2. Yeah the impressions kinda do make you gag but try not to think about it.
3. Uhh well it depends really sometimes 1- 1 +1/2 or sometimes 3 hrs.
4. Yupp you have to keep your mouth open the whole time but they should put this thing in your mouth so you don't have to manually do it it just holds your mouth open.
5. having them fitted? Uhm they arent fitted since all they do is put on brackets and wires, so no it should 'hurt'
6. Um its gonna hurt for probably a week, really severe right after you get them but by the end of the week you could be eating a sandwich idk it really just depends on how bad you teeth are.
7. Yeah they do kinda hurt for the first time but once you get used to them your good.
EXPANDER
1. no its not gonna make you gag.
2. It kinda makes you sound like you have a lisp but it goes away after you get used to it or other people around you get used to it its no big deal.
3. Yeah they do hurt.

Good luck with your braces and remember, this all leads to a pretty smile!

What hurts more... spacers or getting your braces on or tightened?

For me the spacers hurt alot ..I couldnt wait to get them off ... Till the braces time u get a bit adjusted ... Dont go for painkillers .. Try to adjust to the pain ... Until it becomes really unbearable ... With braces when they r newly fitted u have pain for about 2 or 3 days which dissapears .. Later on u have pain for a day on each appointment .. Dont chill I'm still on my braces and doesnt hurt tht much ..Just the beginning is a bit irritating .. Then it gets better .. when u get new braces make sure u just eat soft food otherwise it will hurt .. With me I didnt care I just had my beef burgers and everythin hard even with the pain ... So chill .. Dont worry ... I didnt use a painkiller till yet for braces ..

I am getting braces in a week. Do you have any advice that you wished you knew before you got braces?

My advice is to seriously reconsider getting them.If you are happy with your teeth, or could learn to be happy with them, rethink this. The first week I put them on, I could not stop crying. Gums were sore, teeth were sore, even tongue was sore. Had many cuts on the inside of my mouth (still do). Couldn’t even eat apple sauce, because when tiny bits of apple rubbed against my teeth, it hurt. Brushing was equivalent to torture. The taste of metal took a long time to go away. Maybe it hasn’t gone away for me, I’ve just gotten accustomed to it.Just about any sort of food will get stuck between the wires and brackets. Reconsider how you will deal with social situations, school, work, outings, places where brushing will not be readily available. Tongue will be sore after all the work trying to remove stuck food.Speech will likely change too. You might develop a lisp. Severity will depend on what other instruments are added. For me, I have a TPA (transpalatal arch), which is a metal wire stretching from one side of the roof of my mouth to the other. Furthermore, I have bite blockers (tiny devices placed behind my top two front teeth, to prevent me from biting down on the brackets). I would say they are the most uncomfortable part of my experience.Bite turbosTranspalatal archMost importantly, reconsider how your confidence might change. I personally thought I would look fine with braces on, however I was not prepared to see my face change to such an extent. My confidence dwindled the very second I saw (and heard) myself. The speech impediment goes away for about a few months, but if you are a young person, consider how having braces will impact more social aspects of your life. (If you are in a relationship, consider what sort of activities you will want to (or have to) do away with while wearing braces. Just check out this transpalatal arch again). If you’ve considered all this, and still want to go ahead, good luck. If not, depending on the severity of your case, maybe you could accept your teeth and get by without all this hassle?
