Does My Mom See My Health Insurance

Can I put my mom in my health insurance?

No, this isn't possible. You cannot add a parent as a dependent to your health insurance plan, only spouses (and domestic partners in some states) and children under the age of 26. Your mother will need to obtain health insurance through an employer or on her own. The current open enrollment period for self-purchased coverage will end after March 31, 2014, so encourage her to start looking. She should work with a licensed health insurance agent online or in her area to get familiar with her options. She can learn more about the Affordable Care Act and what it means for here at our online resource center here:

I'm 17 can my mom take me off health insurance?

I am 17 and today I asked my mom to take me to the doctor because I was worried I might have strep throat. She told me no because I didn't have health insurance anymore. She said my "income" was too high and that they won't let me be insured by my parents anymore. First of all, I don't have any income anymore because I was seasonal at my job over Christmas and haven't worked since December. My dad passed away in November and starting in January my mom gets an $800 check every month that is supposed to be child support and she tells me that that is considered MY income. Well I don't see how it's considered mine when I don't actually see a dime of it. She has yet to take me to get a license, I'm almost 18, I now don't have health insurance and she told me she is using the checks to make house payments and for my 3 other siblings. My three other siblings all have different fathers than mine. So, I thought those checks were supposed to help with things like health insurance and school and clothes, etc. I guess I'm really asking if any of this is right or wrong and what I should do? I turn 18 at the very end of April so getting emancipated would be stupid. I know the checks can be turned over to me when I am 18 but now I am considering moving out.. but I will no longer get those checks if I do, right?

What and how should I sign up my mom for health insurance? She has been living overseas for a decade, and is a US citizen. She is diabetic and really sick, but does not work. Can I sign her up for Medicaid/Medicare? I work myself, if that helps.

I would highly recommend signing her up for Medicare if she is over 65. The annual deductible is only $183, then everything is covered at 80% after that. And if she gets a supplemental plan, it will cover her 20% Medicare coinsurance as well. Some plans even cover the deductible. I would say start with Medicare by calling (simply Google their phone number), and they will be able to tell you if she has eligible. Just have her DOB and SSN handy when you call. As long as she is over 65 and has had a job in the states, she should be eligible. And if you’re interested in a supplemental to pickup what Medicare doesn’t pay, the most common one I have seen that pays well is United Healthcare’s AARP Medicare Supplement plan. 1–866–913–8163 is their number. One other options besides Medicare is a Medicare replacement plan. The only Medicare replacement plan I would ever recommend is another plan through UHC called the AARP Medicare Complete plan. Simply Google to find their phone number. This plan replaces Medicare and normally has no deductible, but has office visit copays whereas Medicare does not. But still has considerably good coverage. Hope that helps!

How can I choose better health insurance for my mom?

Considering the high prices for health care, a health insurance plan is an absolute necessity in today’s time not just for your mother, but even for you as well.Listed below are the most important factors that need to be assessed when choosing a health insurance policy for your mother:CoverageIf you compare policies of private and public insurance companies, you will see that the public ones offer lower coverage of the range of a few lakhs (around INR 2 lakhs) whereas the private ones offer as much as INR 20 lakhs. I have my moms health insurance card, can i use it for a doctor visit ?

No - that would be fraud.

Do you think they issue these cards like stamps at the post office? Your mother's health history will be held in a secured database - but that database will be tied to that card. Every time you use the card, your mothers health history will be accessed.

You may look similar to her, but your mom will have a range of medically detectable differences from you. The first I think would be age, then a lack of stretch marks/c-section scar, etc, etc...

Ask your mom if her health policy covers family members - that way you might just be covered, and you won't get yourself and your mom in trouble.

Quick question about health insurance?

Hi. I am 19.
I am looking to get off my mom health insurance and get my own. I am looking at BlueCross Shield. I am needing surgery on my knee for patellar subluxation. My moms insurance at the moment is not going to cover it, at all. The Dr. is trying to get her insurance to cover it.
I am thinking if I get off of her insurance, it will be a relief for myself and for her so at least some of the surgery is paid for. Also, I went into the ER last night & I am still responsible for a $500 payment after insurance. That's ridiculous amount in my opinion. I think her insurance is pure trash. So I would like to get my own if that's possible. But I am not quite sure what the best option is here.
So I guess I am asking what I should do.
Please no hate comments, don't have time for ignorance.

My mom lost her job and will be losing her health insurance in 2 weeks!?!?

First, they have to offer her Cobra, which she may not be able to afford for too long. It covers 18 months of insurance at the group rate. She will have to pay the whole premium there is no employer contribution.

Secondly, she should contact the Dept of Labor because she may still be able to apply for unemployment even with severance pay.

Third, if the family income is low enough she will be able to apply for low cost health insurance through Family Health Plus or Child Health Plus.

My dad does not let me carry my health insurance card?

I am 18 and a college student. I pay for college and food. I don't pay my parents rent and I borrow my dad's car.

Family situation is a father and stepmother.

I want my insurance card for various reasons. But he does not let me have it only let me use it if he goes to the doctor with me and makes sure he is in the room. A couple times the doctor has asked him to leave and he does leave, but only when the doctor asks.

Am I being unreasonable by asking to carry my insurance card with me? I'm a responsible adult and am basically your dream child.

When I have asked for my insurance card, I get an interrogation. And he says that if I have any health problems that I'm concerned about, that he needs to be there and so I can use my insurance card that way.

The main reason I want my insurance card is to be able to go to the doctor on my own terms to get birth control. My parents have a strict no sex until marriage policy, but that train has left the station and I want to double up. Planned Parenthood charges me a ridiculous amount of money since I am 18 and they go off of my parents' income. There is no other cheap way to get birth control without using my insurance. I don't need a lecture about birth control, this is about getting my insurance card.

In addition, I am a college student. This means I cannot go to a doctor while at college for anything unless if I want to pay full price (which is for most people in the word considering health care costs, impossible). The health center can prescribe things to me for 20$/office visit... but once I get to CVS to fill a script I don't have the money to pay for the medication. There was only one time I really needed medication for severe vertigo due to problems with my inner ear.. I could not tell my dad for other reasons about him being super overprotective and threatening to send me back home from college if I get sick (yes, even a mild cough).

Also, for an example, the girl next to me ended up going to the hospital because she had a severe case of the flu and a 105 degree fever. Because she carries her insurance card, she was able to not rack up a ton of hospital bills. What if something happens to me.. if I get into a car accident for example, or need to be transported from campus (note: I do not drink alcohol or do drugs)?

Is what my dad doing even legal? How do I get him to give me my insurance card?

If I am under 26, can I stay on my parents' health insurance if I live in another state?

If you live in another state, your access to health care will be super limited if your parents have a plan elsewhere. Your other options for getting insured include:Getting a plan through your school or employer.Signing up through HealthCare, gov or your state’s exchange (where you’ll probably get some financial aid to help pay for premiums).Enrolling in a catastrophic plan, which provides minimal coverage for a reasonable monthly premium cost. (Note: You can only stay on this kind of plan until you turn 30.)Signing up for Medicaid if you meet the income requirements. This article has more details on your options. Good luck!

I want to get health insurance for my 85 year-old mother from China, what options do I have?

Assuming this is for coverage in the USA? If so, I would suggest the Cigna Global International Health Plan as an option. It would be expensive as pricing for these plans increases as you get older. However, the plan would provide coverage for the rest of her life and has a great reputation for service. You can download a brochure here: https://www.internationalinsuran...Alternatively, depending on her visa status, you can try to get her on a domestic health insurance plan through the insurance market place in your state.
