Does Puberty Make You Gain Weight And How Do You Lose It

Weight gain in puberty?

wow, you have no idea how much you sound like me....i have been skinny my whole life and (just turned 16 a few days ago) when i was going into 8th grade i was 5'3' and barely 100 pounds. From then until the middle of 10th grade i have gained 60 pounds and am now 6'1' 160 pounds. So, in comparison, i think we both gained alot of weight to catch up with our growing bodies, but if ur worried about being fat ur not...ur just growing

Does puberty make you lose weight?

Yes of course you gain weight. Guys get muscles and grow taller so they get more weight.

girls get bigger butt and breasts, so same deal.

But yeah your question is probably if puberty makes you gain fat. Yes in most cases it does. Most kids start putting on fat in their teen years

Does puberty make you gain weight?

Some people do gain weight, but the majority of the time growth hormone kicks in first causing people to grow tall and thin before gaining any weight or body fat. The reason for this is that existing body fat is redistributed along the newly elongating limbs and core of the body. Once the bones are done growing the body can focus on the development of muscle and body fat in just turns.

However, the gain of weight is a little uncommon (but not unusual) and could be the foreshadowing of some hormone problems to come. I suggest keeping a close eye as to how much weight is actually gained. If it's only a small bit over a long period of time, then it's nothing to worry about and should be easily lost once you've started to gain some height. (Slight weight gain before height gain is your body's way of getting ready for the changes to come.) If however it's a large amount of weight gain over a short period of time, I suggest seeing a doctor for more professional help and in depth information.

Are you asking this because you’re a teen and suddenly lost a bunch of weight or because you’re overweight and hoping that it might take care of itself? From personal experience, lots of teens lose weight or “fill out” during puberty. The latter was me not too long ago. Nothing’s for sure. Hell, you could gain weight during puberty. Personally, I found myself asking the same question. I was a chubby kid all through middle school up until the 10th grade. What eventually ended up happening was I lost no weight and I ended up growing 5 inches. That being said, you could say I “filled out” a little bit and look like I lost weight. I currently appear to be skinny to others so that’s that.I’d also add that my face got noticeably thinner which, from my experience (personal and looking at others my age), seems to be common. If you’re overweight and concerned about your weight, maybe you should take that into your own hands. If you’re skinny and happen to be losing weight, a simple solution would be to eat more. If its a rapid loss of weight, maybe seek professional help, as I am unskilled in this field…

Will I Lose Weight During Puberty?

Yes, it is true that men will gain weight during puberty. That doesn't mean you will tack on pounds of pure fat. During puberty, you naturally put on pounds of muscle as well. All your growth means your metabolism changes as well, because your body has new parts it never needed to provide energy for in the past.

Contrary to what someone above me has said, your metabolism will INCREASE during puberty (the reason teenagers are stereotyped as overindulgent eaters). This will help you actually LOSE body fat if you maintain a healthy diet. Your body will demand more intake, and if you cram junk into it, all the excess fatty acids won't be processed, and end up as body fat. If you eat right, you can cut down on body fat and increase your amount of muscle without too much exercise.

With those facts in mind, don't worry. If you make good choices, you'll turn out just fine.

Do You Loose Weight During Puberty?

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Most likely it's just your body's biology. You know, that thing were if humans eat more calories than they burn the body will store the excess as fat!? If you didn't know this, that's o.k., because many people are not familiar with how it works.Your large weight gain compared to your height is likely a result of massive overconsumption of calories relative to your activity levels. Even if you have been working out like a mad woman, you would have needed an unbelievable amount of calories to build that much muscle.VERY often people underestimate, or forget just how much they eat in a day. That is the reason American's obesity rate is closing in on half of the adult population. If your parents have a similar eating style, have similar body sizes, then this is probably the case.If your weight gain is mostly from steroid use, and heavy weight lifting, maybe try showing off all that muscle in a body builder competition. If that is the case, then there's probably nothing to worry about - as far as the fat goes.Seriously, at 5′1 and 150 pounds, that's pretty obese, but in many parts of the U.S. that isn't considered that bad. I have seen 200, and even 250 lbs on girls that height in many parts of the U.S. if you don't believe me visit some of the Southern States. However, if you visit a doctor, to them this weight gain is mostly seen as fat and your physique probably looks that way. Obviously, there are many things you can do to lose weight, but probably none you are going to want to do. So, First check if there are any easy outs for you. If your doctor can find anything that says it's not your fault, like hormonal problems, which your doctor will treat, and you magically lose all the excess weight without even trying. That's right, you won't have to even eat your vegetables, or do cardio and calorie-burning exercises. Sounds great, huh!?Only If the doctor can’t find the problem are you likely going to have to try those hard things, like more walking, biking, running, and strength training. Some people lose weight more quickly when they cut calories, but that might be too much effort to start with. Start with small changes that can eventually lead to mean meaningful, overall changes to your health.

Why when you hit puberty you lose weight?

That happened to me too. When you hit puberty, your hormones start changing and going all wonky. For some girls, that doesn't really do anything for their weight. For some girls, it causes them to gain weight. For some girls, it makes it really easy to lose weight. When I hit puberty, I lost about 20 pounds without trying. What's happening to you is very normal. Also, you are probably going through a growth spurt and you can lose weight during those times easily as well.
If you are concerned about anything that's happening or feel that you've lost too much weight, see your doctor.

Statistics suggest for most children it is the opposite. Prepuberty children have much lower obesity rates than teens. Somehow puberty causes you to gain weight. Of course, there are always exceptions, but generally teens continue to add weight, even after they stop growing.
