Does Stopping Prozac Fluoxetine Make You Emotional

Does Prozac (fluoxetine) stop worrying/anxiety?

Not really but you continue it it may effect about a week. I don not think it will make you more relaxed. Or maybe........
INFORMATION IS BELLOW

Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) antidepressant. Fluoxetine affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive symptoms.

Fluoxetine is used to treat major depressive disorder, bulimia nervosa (an eating disorder) obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).

Fluoxetine is sometimes used together with another medication called olanzapine (Zyprexa) to treat depression caused by bipolar disorder (manic depression). This combination is also used to treat depression after at least 2 other medications have been tried without successful treatment of symptoms.

Fluoxetine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guided

|||||| IMPORTANT NOTE: Using fluoxetine can be problem will be worse in 1 year(sufficient due not listed) actually it is a drug so you can suffer pituitary gland problem. So use a Vitamin B complex with all important 8 B vitamin(s). It will work great.

|||| tell my story I also suffer from it with eye. If B vitamins(with all 8 Bs) not working then be sure that you have a eye problem. See a dermatology take a goggles and eye drop(this 2 is very important

Is paxil (paroxetine) safer than prozac (fluoxetine)?

I heard prozac was the safest of all anti-depressants but they other day I switched from prozac to paxil and expected the effects to be stronger and I heard paxil was notorious for withdrawal symptoms but I found prozac much stronger.
Prozac gave me a feeling not dissimilar to ecstasy whereas paxil has almost no effect at all on me, also prozac made me grind my teeth and gave me a somewhat euphoric like feeling but I thought paxil was supposed to be stronger and more addictive, should I be feeling something of this new drug or not?

I stopped Prozac as it made me feel no empathy or emotion. Has anyone else experienced this?

I think that’s a somewhat common experience, but it’s not overwhelming—at least for me. It tends to mute emotional extremes. For example, I don’t think I can cry. The empathy thing is a tough call because depression does that to us as well. Sometimes it’s hard to know what comes from the med and what comes from the depression.

I took 8 20mg fluoxetine capsules - what will happen?!?

It varies per person. Some persons whom have been taking the medication for some time, typically over 6 months, have a larger amount of the drug circulating in blood than someone that may be just starting the medication. Why does that matter? Overdose or toxic levels are measured in the amount of circulating drug in the body, specifically µg/L. The person's body size also contributes to circulating amount of drug present.

There has been some studies performed to assess the toxic levels of fluoxetine and research found the largest amount to be 8 grams and the smallest recorded amount was 520 milligrams.

You took 160 milligram. This is obviously more than you are supposed to take. However it is significantly less than recorded toxic levels. That said, that does not put you in the clear.

Some signs/symptoms that may develop include: tachycardia (heart rate 100+bpm), vomiting, somnolence, and potentially seizures.

Its hard to give you advice without knowing more about you. It wouldn't hurt to go to the hospital for evaluation and get some fluids given to you. If you chose not to go, be around someone that can watch over you if needed. Tell them what you did in case you have a seizure. Drink plenty of fluids and rest.

Lastly, lecture aside, it would be in your interest to tell your parents, psychiatrist, or therapist you did what you did. There was obviously some emotion that caused you to do this...

Regards.

Fluoxetine hcl 10mg/ Prozac side effects?

So I'm normally very monotone and keep my emotions in especially for a 16 year old girl. I have anxiety attacks often so I got prescribed Prozac 10mg yesterday. I went to the strip last night and got drunk and went to bed around 1 in the morning. I woke up at 8 and took first pill about 8:30. I did not have a hang over but I felt very tired at work and felt almost numb and very out of it. At 12 I layer down in my car for a half hour and went back to work. I felt like I had to cry so I went into the bathroom and started crying for no reason at all. I just couldn't stop crying. I would stop for like a minute and then try to get my self together and just start again. I couldn't handle crying at work so I went home and cried on and off almost whole way home (30 min) and when I got home I felt better. It's 3 now and I haven't cried since I got home or felt any emotion. Is this normal to just start crying all of a sudden or is something wrong? I was also very constipated and my stumic hurt from the pill cause I didn't eat anything.

Can't cry any more? Does prozac have anything to do with it?

I've been on prozac for depression and anxiety since January.
Before that time period, I would cry ALL the time.
Ever since I've been on the medicine though, I literally cannot cry. I'm still extremely depressed, maybe even more than before. Crying really helps me express and get out my bad emotions and it really sucks not being able to. Like even if I try, nothing. I have not cried since February. Compare this to crying every single day. I don't understand. My mom thinks I can't cry because the prozac has helped and I'm happier, but she doesn't understand that I am actually even more depressed than ever before.
Does anybody know any information about this kind of stuff? What other side effects are there?

Do people become less empathetic when using Prozac?

While never having used Prozac I used to take a comparable antidepressant, Seroxat, for two years which has helped me a lot with regaining my strenght to fight the depression. And yes, it had made me noticably less empathic. Not that I acted on it, but I was surprised to find myself indifferent toward the hurt and suffering of people and animals compared to how I had always felt before. A fundamental part of the real me was gone. That indifference motivated me most of all to get off the medication when reasonably possible. Luckily that worked out.The first time I noticed the effects had worn off was when I was watching a nature documentary showing a prematurely born elephant that wasn’t going to make it and how the mother and other elephants responded to that. It was very heart breaking and suddenly, for the first time in two years I felt choking up. I’m sorry it took something so sad to notice for the first time in years that my old real self was back. Please note that this is just the experience of one individual. People respond differently to antidepressants.

Taking 20mg Prozac for 2 weeks - want to stop. Cold turkey or wean? What to expect?

I was on 20mg of Prozac for only about a month. My doctor said I could actually just go cold turkey if I wanted. I am a female who only weighs 110 pounds but I took it every other day for a few days and then I just quit. It worked perfectly fine for me. You shouldn't have any withdrawal symptoms if you stop taking the Prozac completely now since you've only been taking it for 2 weeks. Prozac can take up to 4 weeks to fully work so you might have some of it in your system but not enough for it to matter a whole lot. Like everybody else is saying, the best thing to do is check with your doctor and follow his/her instructions.
