Does This Essay Make Sense And Sound Intelligent Is It Something You Agree With

Does it make sense if you say "in contradict" in a paper I'm writing?

I think you are looking for "contradiction." You can contradict something but if you are making an analogy of opposites it is more of a contradiction. The way you are stating it is not proper english as in "in contradict" as it should read "in contradiction"

Ie. Barry stated it was very warm outside while Steve wanted to contradict that as it was even warmer than that.

Sometimes we find the glass half full but in contradiction it can be half empty.

Now there is also another tense as in Contradicted. Go look at this link and if this doesn't help you then use the dictionary to find the correct tense of usage of the word as it applies to your sentence

How do you use big words effectively without sounding pretentious or uneducated?

You will not sound uneducated if you use the words properly. Seeming pretentious is a risk.

The basic idea of writing and speaking is communication. Words are the way we achieve that goal. The major hazard is that the vocabulary and knowledge of the reader (the person that the communication is intended to reach) may not be as large and varied as yours. It is usually best to use the simplest words that will present the ideas in the least confusing manner. You need to consider the audience in anything that you write or present if your true goal is communication. this appears to be the point that your history teacher is trying to make.

Pretentiousness derives from using "big" words where more economical choices would achieve the identical goal. You don't need to sound smart to be smart, in a sense. Pretentiousness is essentially just the use of "fancy" words for no reason other than to show you know those words, generally to impress, with the result being precisely the opposite.

The thing about a thesaurus is that it provides words that can have a similar meaning to another word, in a specific meaning of each word, but often not all meanings. Furthermore, synonyms are similar in that meaning, not identical. The synonyms are not fully interchangeable and it is a very big mistake to think that they are, and the same general idea applies to antonyms. You cannot switch words and keep the meaning identical. Synonyms and antonyms are best used to define a position in a gradient of meanings rather than just to provide variety and avoid repetition.

Introduction and thesis statment for jeffrey dahmer and ed gein?

It's good but try changing your words a little.. Instead you could write something like this:

Jeffrey Dahmer, born and raised in Milwaukee, grew up in a loving home with a great future ahead of him. Ed Gein, born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, grew up in religious home and was attached to his mother, Augusta Wilhelmine. They are (instead of their names again) two very intelligent men, and caught by surprise, are also both serial killers. (how can they be deadly killers? makes no sense..) Their (learn your there, their, they're) motives, tacts, and means of murder were very different, yet also similar. (Don't forget to have a closing phrase which will make the reader continue to the next paragraph.. something like.. here is why it is similar.. (dont use those exact words, teachers hate it!)...

Hope it helps!!!!!!

Does this paragraph sound smart?

Couldn't get any answers in the history section..
I have to write a paragraph on my 'perception' of the French Revolution, I'm not sure if I completely understand it, but does this make sense? What else should I add?

My perception of the French Revolution is that it was smart of the third estate to rise up and take action against parliament. There were so many members of third class, it wasn't fair that only the wealthy citizens and kings had a say in the state of their country. Most of the rulers didn't do anything to benefit the people, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette being two examples. The wealthy parliament was looking out for themselves more than their country. While the Committee of Safety just kept chopping off heads and people were starving, the National Assembly had to form in order to fight against the two higher estates.
