Does This Sound Like Mono And Should I Get Tested

I may have mono but my girlfriend does not?

i have the symptoms of mono and the doctor is going to test me if my fever does not go away because it has been extremely high and my throat has been tickling but not hurting. when i went to the doctor she told me it could be pus from my eyes dripping down to my throat because my eyes are also hurting. but she also told me that the eyes could be from the fever. i feel so weak lately when i walk around my legs ache and start cramping almost and when i lay down i don't want to get up at all.. the only thing that does not make sense is my girlfriend does not have mono. and she is not sick. and shes the only person i share drinks with and kiss. what do you think i have? and is it possible that she does actually have mono?

How can I convert from mono to stereo without losing any sound quality?

You have many answers already.  I would only add that you can create the illusion of stereo with a couple of methods.  Whether or not they would "degrade" the sound is debatable, but it is certainly doable.  Putting the same mono signal through each stereo channel and EQing them differently is one way.  Playing with phase relationships is another.  (Waves has a great imaging plug-in for this in their Surround Bundle.)  And others have already suggested adding reverbs and delays.  As with anything in music and sound, the context means everything, so what works well on one sound may be terrible on another.  You will have to experiment!

Why does mono audio appear to sound like it is in front of you?

Your brain uses time and level differences (among a few other things) to determine directionality of a giving sound. If a person talks to you from your right, the sound of the persons voice will be louder in your right ear than in the left, and there will be a slight delay between your ears, as the distance traveled by the sound to your left ear is longer than that traveled to get to your right ear. When you play mono audio into a pair of headphones, you’re playing the exact same audio signal into both ears at the same time, and your brain then concludes that the origin of the signal is an equal distance to both ears, which would have to be straight ahead or right behind you.The shape of the outer ear is designed to augment sounds coming from in front of you and slightly muffle sounds coming from behind. You can test this by snapping your fingers in front of your face and behind your head and listen for the difference. The sound of your headphones will likely sound clear enough that your brain concludes that the signal must be in front of you :)

My boyfriend recently tested positive for mono, do I have it too?

My boyfriend recently tested positive for mono. I am currently 2,000 miles away visiting family, and have been gone for about 4 weeks, however, he came to visit about 2 weeks ago, where we slept in the same bed, kissed, had sex, etc. What are my chances now of developing mono? We're not sure exactly when he got it or even how- but I do know it stays in your system for several weeks before showing symptoms.

Also, how long will he be contagious for? I know we should refrain from kissing, sharing cups, etc., but can we still have sex with a condom if we do not kiss or share other bodily fluids? Could he still spread mono that way?

I would like to get tested for mono, however, my father recently lost his job (dang economy crisis), and therefore, we lost our health insurance by extention. I am a full time student and therefore only babysit, so I do not know how I can recieve medical care/get tested without being employed and having insurance. Any advice on that as well? I live in Chicago, by the way. Oh, what a great time to be sick! :(

Thank you for any advice - I really appreciate it!

My strep test came back negative...could I have MONO?

Two nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible terrible sore throat. The next morning I did NOT want to get out of bed I was so tired. When I did eventually get up I had a really bad headache and I was a little dizzy. I eventually just went back to my bed because I was that tired. I spent my whole day sleeping. I also had a fever of 101.6. Now today, I woke up and my fever was low, 97 exact, but now my neck is killing me, and I have a few lower back pains too. I went to the doctor today and my strep test came back negatvie, however, my right lymph node is swollen and my throat still hurts. I am still extremely tired as well. Do you think this could be mono??

Mono????????

It sounds like it could also be the flu, but I'm not a doctor so I don't know.

It lasts a long time (anywhere from two weeks to a month on average), and you'll be out of school for at least that amount of time.

How do I make my hip-hop mix sound good on headphones and speakers? I've tested them on different monitors and speakers and it sounds great but when I listen to them on different headphones it sounds weird.

Use reference tracks when mixing. Pick some music that is similar in some way to your own and compare them as you mix. This should improve the translation across different systems. Also listen to your track on different systems as you're mixing. Work on it with monitor speakers, then spend an hour working on it with headphones.A mix is like a 3D object. Each set of monitors gives you a slightly different view of the object. There are a few technical things you can do too which help mix translation:Sidechain the bass to your kick so it dips on the kick drum hits. This clears up the bass frequenciesHigh pass everything that isnt a bass or kickMono your bass frequenciesDont always solo instruments when you EQ them. Some DAWS have a listen solo which dips everything in volume other than the instrunent you're working which is brilliant for EQ work.Pay attention to your use of pan. A good approach can be to mix with only a hard left, right and centre methodology.Keep an eye on your phase meter with individual tracks and the overall mixCheck your mix in mono occasionally and see how it sounds. Have another monitor for this purpose, or simply switch your mix to mono and turn one off. Phantom centre mono isn't so useful.

FL Studio: My song sounds fine using headphones, but you can barely hear the vocals when listening without headphones. How do I fix it?

Hey man, not trying to sound arrogant, but I can guarantee that most suggestions might not help you. Here’s the secret to mixing all your sounds and synths and samples and everything else properly - mixing in mono. When you are using headphones while making music, the sound that you hear is actually in stereo and when you play through your speakers, car sound system, your TV perhaps, it’s coming out in mono.Try this out once you’ll know what i mean. I found out this technique on some youtube video, which I unfortunately can't remember. But here are steps to mix in mono:Open your mixer. Select the master. Click on any slot.Load the plugin named Fruity Stereo Enhancer. In that crank down the stereo separation to the absolute minimum. Then mix all your vocals, synths, etc.Once you are done, remove the plugin from the master mixer slot.Hope this helps!(images)After doing this, just go ahead mix all your sounds, and then get rid of the plugin, or switch it off, which ever you like.PS: sorry for the bad edits on this images

Is it mono or the flu?!?

I have been feeling under the weather for exactly a week now..extremely sore throat, swollen lymph nodes on both sides of the neck and along my jaw, both of my ears are throbbing, fever, extremely fatigued and have aches throughout my entire body. I saw a physician last Thursday and he prescribed me Amoxicillin..I took it as prescribed for 4 days and saw no change, so I contacted him and he prescribed me Zithromax. I am on the third dosage today and the symptoms are just worsening...I am going tomorrow to get blood work taken but I was just wondering what the heck is going on? Any ideas? Thanks for your time.
