Does Visene Make You Sick

What is it in Visine that makes it work?

Tetrahydrozoline. (sp?) Works great to close up those capillaries in the eye, but you CAN NOT ingest the stuff without getting pretty sick. Interesting because there is an urban legend that says if you drink it you can pass a urine test.

Does Visine give you diarrhea?

I hope your not drinking the stuff warnings are on boxes for a reason, one woman tried to kill her boyfriend with the stuff. However I suppose you mean the fact that when you put eye drops in sometimes the mixture will actually run down into the back of your throat. Maybe you are over using the product find out what is making your eyes sore it might be an allergy to some other product you are using .

Does visine make you vomit?

Yes, but not always. keep in mind that Visine is a POISON. And not meant for ingesting. Just a few drops can lead to serious consequences, overdose means death, I'm not kidding. Before trying this look up "Visine poisoning". Never EVER ingest something to make you vomit unless it's been recommended by your Poison Control Center to bring up something else!

Does putting visine in someone's food or drink really make them sick? Will it kill them?

It gives them diahrea! You can only put like 2 drops though.

Is it true that if you put visine in someones water they will get sick??

Actually Visine did used to contain an ingredient that caused diarrhea, about 2 years ago they changed the formula and now you can get no laughs from it. I wish though, I used to be a server and it was hilarious!

What are the risks of putting Visine in my dog's eyes?

The biggest risk is that you’re trying to treat a symptom of a disease that should be diagnosed. Red eyes in dogs can be caused by infections and allergies, but also by corneal ulcers, uveitis, glaucoma, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca, among other things. Those are serious conditions that will not be helped much by Visine.

What are the effects of Visine if ingested?

As with most things in medicine, it depends on how much you ingest.Original Visene contains 0.05% Tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride. A full 15 milliliter bottle would contain 750 milligrams of the tetrahydrozoline. The MSDS sheets I found on the ‘net indicate a LD50 for mice of around 345 mg/Kg (The Lethal Dose 50% quantity is the amount of chemical which will kill half of the test animals it is administered to).The three MSDS sheets I found don’t indicate what dosages of the drug start to produce adverse side effects in humans. Extrapolating from rodents to humans is not always applicable. An entire bottle probably wouldn’t kill a typical 50 Kg man, but might very well make him sick. One MSDS states: Potential Acute Health Effects: Slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant, permeator), of eye contact (irritant), more hazardous in accidental ingestion. Overdoses after ingestion or absorption through skin or mucous membrane may cause change blood pressure, irregular or rapid heart rate, vomiting, diarrhea, delirium, convulsions, and coma. The manufacturer’s labeled side effects include:Lowering body temperature to dangerous levels Making breathing difficult, or even halting it entirely Blurring vision Causing nausea and vomiting Elevating and then dropping blood pressure Causing seizures or tremors Sending the ingester into a comaPfizer's cautions to users of Visine include, 'If swallowed, getmedical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.' In viewof the above list, that advice should not be taken lightly."Nearly everything that you put into your eyes get swallowed eventually, if it doesn’t run down your face or get absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Deliberately poisoning someone with it would be unwise, cruel and illegal.

What are the reasons why Visine causes diarrhea?

A common urban legend is that a few drops of Visine in an unsuspecting victim's drink will cause a harmless bout of diarrhea. This will not produce diarrhea, but oral administration of Visine can induce dangerous side effects related to Visine's ingredient tetrahydrozoline hydrochloride such as:Dangerously low body temperature (hypothermia)Blurred visionNausea and vomitingDifficulty in breathing or even a complete halt in breathingElevating (hypertension) then dropping (hypotension) blood pressurePossible comaSeizures and tremorsAnyone ingesting Visine should get medical attention or contact a poison control center immediately.
