Does Working Out Stunt Your Growth

Does working out stunt your growth?

No. (wishful thinking?) If that were true then a lot of people would be very small. Just think of how much exercise kids get by playing outside every day!

Does working out stunt growth?

no, if it did i would be a midget, well im not that tall to start wit... im only 5.1, but thats because i have a short family, so i would say no it doesn't

Does working out stunt your growth?

No, it won't effect it. Not even if you lift very heavy, etc. There are no such exercise what, if performed correctly and with good form, can stunt growth or cause any other health problems, neither speed growth up like some people says, it's all about genetics and genetics only. So yea, it's totally myth...

If somebody says you otherwise they are either trolling or is not educated enough about this topic...

If you still don't feel like believing us random YA users then you can go and ask your trainer, when you apply for football, or your school sport teacher. These are guys who have a collage grade in sports so you can trust them... they will tell you the same thing.

Will working out at 14 stunt your growth?

It is an often repeated myth that lifting weights at a young age can stunt growth. Actually, strength training can prevent injuries and improve performance in sports and other activities.

There are articles about this at medical websites which I wish people would read, so they stop repeating this nonsense.

Young fellows put there body under greater stress jumping out of trees, then with adult supervised strength training. If you don't have an experienced adult to show you how to lift, then I recommend this very good book:
Strength Training for Young Athletes (Paperback) by William J. Kraemer and Steven J. Fleck

By the way, you should add a pulling exercise to your workout, like pull-ups or chin-ups or rope climbing.

Will working out stunt my growth?

In Theory Lifting moderate amount of weights could actually HELP with your growth. When you sleep your HGH levels raise "human growth hormone" and people who exercise with weights have higher levels of release of this hormone. although no study has ever been done on the subject in theory it is very possible that moderate weight lifting can help stimulate bone growth from many points not just limited to the heavier release of HGH.

In conclusion, Weight lifting does not stunt your growth and in fact might help it. The only possible way it could would be if you lifted a weight so heavy you did damage to bone and so on. However you will not soon be strong enough to lift a weight heavy enough to do such damage.

Simply make sure you use proper form throughout all your movements.
Moreover in my experience doing pull ups regularly will increase your height faster because you are stretching your body in the procedure.

For your other question I would say that don't exactly measure the effect of bodybuilding by just the amount of soreness. Just make a log of how many you are able to do and if you are improving in number over time it means you are doing good. But if you think that you are not working hard enough then increase your reps.
Also make sure to have at least one day gap before working out the same muscle group again because your body actually builds muscles while you are not working out and needs time to add new muscle tissues. Working out same muscle group everyday could have negative effect on muscle size and strength. Just space out your workout plan.

15 year old boy working out stunt your growth?

I'm a 15 year old boy. Birthday November 24th 1995. I just measured and I'm 5 feet and 3 inches exact. I know I'm short for my age but I hope I become 5 foot 8 inches by the time I'm 16 because the average height for a guy at my school is about 5 feet 7 inches. I weigh 158. I'm planning on working out this summer and planning to make my body fat percentage from 21% to 8%-10% so i could lose weight and gain muscle and make my BMI from 28 to 20-22. I'm already working on my diet and making sure I eat less calories and less food. I know I'm overweight but I'm not obese. I'm gonna try really hard to lose this weight so i'll be more fit, healthier, live longer and most importantly look better.

Does going to a gym stunt your growth?

This is a good question and I will love to answer this happily. When I was in 10th standard year 2007 I have joined the Gym and my parents used to scold me not to go to gym because it will stunt my growth. The reason behind this question which you asked is because the best bodybuilders in the world are short, so people also assume same thing that they will remain short in height and it will effect there growth if they lifted weights. It’s not true actually now in 2018 I’m 26 years,173 cm height and 65 kg and this ideal required for perfect body. I’m not lying if u have any doubt in your mind you can visit to my Fitness Channel and check out my fitness presently in 2018.The most important thing I want to tell everyone that never intake Steroids especially for beginners who don’t know the adverse effects of that later. Steroids are made for bodybuilders who are willing to sacrifice their bodies to build big muscles.I’m talking about teenagers that you can go to gym lift weight it will not stunt your growth according to my personal experience and rest it all depends genetically some people’s do not go to gym still they are short and those who go to gym still very tall. So, for beginners or teenager who want to join Gym early can start with the help of Fitness Trainer in the gym where you are joining. In the end, I would say that normal weight lifting should be harmless, providing that you eat a good healthy food, with enough nutrients require to meet your body’s needs.Regards,Sumeet Ranaut

I am 15 years old and I am 5'3″. Will working out stunt my growth? What exercises should I do?

That is completely a myth. When I was about your age I was really interested in getting into fitness and resistance training, but unfortunately, I did not push through because of this hearsay BS about weight training stunting your height growth. I even remember back then when I was jogging, my friend came up to me and said, “Dude, don’t jog. It will make your calves thick and you will stop growing!”Seriously? I can’t believe I fell for that nonsense. Ridiculous! Please don’t make the same mistake that I did. I started out training in my late 20’s because of that crap. I imagined if I only started early, I would have reached my goals sooner. One thing I would say though, be very careful when choosing your program. I believe that there is a specific or more catered programs for people of your age. If you can get hold of a professional trainer, that’s better. Just don’t fall for bro science! Do your research and be smart about it!Check out Matt Cavalier of AthleanX at Youtube, he has great scientific advices about bodybuilding.Lastly, someone made a researched answer similar to your question, I’ll paste the link here:Bart Loews's answer to Does weight lifting reduce or stunt height and stop growth?Have fun!
