Dog Coughing Up Stuff

Dog is coughing & gagging?

my dog keeps coughing & gagging & sometimes she coughs up little white foamy stuff. never any blood & other than that she is completely healthy & active. i don't see how she could have kennel cough or anything because there are no other dogs around. my brother's dog was doing the same thing, except with a runny nose & the vet told him it was just a sinus infection/sinus drip. think it could be the same thing?

I keep coughing up this wasabi looking stuff?

I've been pretty sick the past few days and this morning I only have a cough but when I cough I cough up this high viscosity green stuff thats like wasabi?

Why is my dog coughing black phlem?

There maybe a chance there has been some kind of cut or disease in his wind pipe or lungs that is causing blood to be spat out. You need to visit your vet immediately without any delay. Also observe his symptoms, breathing rate and the colour of his tongue.

My dog has a dry, hoarse cough and has been spitting up white foam/saliva. What home remedy can help both symptoms?

Sounds like your dog may have kennel cough, it’s making its rounds in many places right now. Kennel cough is only really dangerous in young puppies or older dogs where it can be fatal, or if your dog has other health issues especially respiratory issues. It’s like a doggy cold. But, untreated it won’t go away on its own. You’ll need to see your vet and your dog will need medication in order to get over kennel cough. No home remedies that actually work for this so a vet is a must. Also, keep your dog away from other dogs as kennel cough is highly contagious.Keep in mind that the diagnosis of kennel cough is a best guess, not an actual diagnosis, I’m not a vet, and even a vet can’t diagnose online. So really your only option is to take your dog to the vet.

My dog is coughing up pink foam. what is wrong with him?

Hope you are now running to the VET instead of reading this answer.... Hurry up!!! Hope your dog' ll be all right.

IMPORTANT EDIT: While I couldn't agree more with Katie's comment, here is some info:
"Congestive heart failure will commonly cause a soft nocturnal cough that may become productive and more continuous as the condition progresses. The fluid produced often resembles watery, pink foam. This type of cardiac cough usually worsens with exercise and is often associated with noticeable increases in breathing effort, even respiratory distress."
"Pulmonary vascular disease associated with arterial blood clots may result in the coughing of blood, a condition termed hemoptysis. Dogs with hyperadrenocorticism, pancreatitis, immune mediated hemolytic anemia or heartworm disease are at increased risk for pulmonary thromboembolism that may cause bloody fluid or frank blood to exude into the airways."

So, as you can see, a vet is the only way of treating those conditions... If I can find more advise or get a chance to ask a vet I'll update my answer again.

Also, did the foam was pink from the beggining or did it eventually turn pink from white?

My dog (boxer) is coughing acting like he needs to throw up, but nothing is coming up?

We took him to the vet yesterday, and they are saying its a heart disease and that boxers are prone to that. They did an EKG and his heart was beating very fast..He has just been laying around today, not really eating much and still "coughing" every now and then, espcially when he is moving around. His heart is still beating fast and now and then, and even when laying there he takes deep slow breaths. He is about 8 years old, but at the time last week he was running around with no problems..he is prone to eating our socks and he has acted like this before but not to this extent..we also started him on a new doggy food monday.

What would cause a dog to cough and throw up? What can you do to make your dog feel better?

Is the throw up a clear, mucusy substance? If so, that sounds like Kennel Cough. Kennel Cough is a syndrome that can be caused by a few different bacteria, but the most common one to cause it is called bordatella . It’s very contageous, and can be transferred through the coughing the dog has when he is around other dogs. This is how it got the name Kennel Cough; if a bunch of dogs are in close proximity to one dog who has the illness, it’s very likely that all or most of the dogs will get sick. However, your dog could have gotten Kennel Cough without ever having been in a kennel. He could have gotten it from any other dog.Kennel Cough is not serious or deadly for your dog, unless your dog already has a different respiratory disease or a weakened immune system. It’s essentially a flu, but for dogs. He should get over his illness in a week or two. As for treatment, there isn’t a whole lot you can do once your dog has Kennel Cough. There are medicines to help your dog fight it, but since it’s not a very serious disease, I wouldn’t waste your money on that if your dog is otherwise healthy. You could give your dog some honey to eat, which would help his throat to not hurt as much. For the most part, it’s just one of those things your dog has to get over on his own. Kennel Cough usually doesn’t have any symptoms other than coughing and throwing up mucus, and sometimes a fever. Your dog probably won’t seem lethargic or lose his appetite. He’ll just be coughing for a bit, and otherwise he’ll be fine.

Why is my dog coughing up white foam and clear liquid?

My husband and I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter last week. I took him to the vet just for a check up the day after we brought him home. He had hook worms and whip worms. I've given him the 3 day treatment for the worms already. He's eating and drinking normally and doesn't seem overly tired or lethargic, but late last night he started vomiting/coughing/gagging. He starts with a deep almost chesty cough and gags then throws up a white foam/clear liquid. Every once in a while he also coughs up a thicker mucus almost and his nose runs quite a bit. He's also breathing a little heavily, but he's done that for as long as we've had him. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We're going to the vet first thing in the morning, but any advice on how I can treat his symptoms temporarily or help make him more comfortable would be great. Any insight as to what this might be would be appreciated as well so we're not totally unprepared at the dr's tomorrow. Thanks so much!
