Dog Having Puppies In The Rain

Can my dog or puppy get sick from walking in the rain?

it is winter here in Australia and the weather is non stop rain. both pups and mother are bored and getting destructive i want to take them out for walkies but aren't sure if it will be ok. i have got little raincoats for them but need to spray the waterproof stuff on them first , theyre only cheap ones and are made of that plasticy vinyl stuff with nothing else. should i get little jumpers to put underneath? or will they be okay without them?

will walking in the rain make them sick ?

theyre maltese/lhasa so are small dogs and dont have long coats .

thanks to anyone will a real response

What to you do when your dog whines during the rain and thunderstorm?

ignore any anxious behaviour that has no basis in reality ... reality is it is merely a storm ... the dog was either born with a weak temperament or has been coddled by the owners ... the only way to correct the behaviour is to ignore it ... but the reality is coddlers think they are doing the right thing when they are merely perpetuating the dog's anxiety ... if your sister was whimpering and hoovering about you because it was raining, what would you do ??? you would tell her to get a life and ignore that behaviour ...

Its ok to leave a puppy under rain? (n2)?

Dont lose your minds fellas. Like in my earlier question! Ill never leave my dog under rain! THE THING IS WE CANT CONTROL RAIN.. so lets say it started raining suddenly! Will the puppy know to hide under a shelter fast!

And yeah i keep my puppy outside in the morning! Isnt that better for him to play and run. Not just sitting or sleeping indoors. With weather like this. We re not able to tell if its gonna rain or not. Its not cold or warm

Do male dogs recognize their own puppies?

I'm inclined to say no. But they do recognise that ‘home grown’ pups belong to a female they care for, and they will more likely care for them too. This is borne out by the fact that if a bitch is mated to a dog outside the home, her own pack males will be nice to them, whereas if a male dog were to visit puppies he had sired outside his own home, he would probably take no more than a passing interest (unless he just loves all puppies). I know whenever we’ve had puppies our male dogs never differentiated betwen those that were theirs and those that weren't. In wild animals, females often ‘play away’ in order to widen the gene pool, but stay with reliable males to help rear their young, who are hoodwinked into thinking they are protecting and providing for their own offspring.I’ve also known older brother dogs look after their tiny baby siblings: on one memorable occasion, the mother of a three-week-old litter hopped into the back of a car that was headed for a ringcraft class, where her eighteen-month-old son was supposed to be going. The driver - not the dogs’ main caregiver, I hasten to add - seeing a dog in the back assumed someone had put the right dog in and off he drove. when they got back - having realised the mistake - it was to find the ‘teenage’ brother curled up in the whelping box surrounded by all the tiny pups. Their mother couldn't care less, either. I think he did a fair bit of babysitting after that!

Who sings that old country song about liking rain, puppy dogs and trains?

"I love" by Tom T. Hall

I love little baby ducks, old pick-up trucks, slow-moving trains, and rain
I love little country streams, sleep without dreams, sunday school in may,
And hay
And I love you too

I love leaves in the wind, pictures of my friends, birds in the world, and squirrels
I love coffee in a cup, little fuzzy pups, bourbon in a glass, and grass and I love you too

I love honest open smiles, kisses from a child, tomatoes on the vine, and onions
I love winners when they cry, losers when they try, music when it’s good, and life
And I love you too

my favorite of his was "I like beer." He writes funny lyrics.

Can a dog get sick by getting wet from the rain?

I dont think so..... My Husky loves the rain and always gets wet.... shes never gotten sick.... so I wouldnt think so...

My dog just had puppies outside, should i leave them there?

There is not a whole lot that you can do about reaching the mother. You can try setting her food and water a distance away from her pups, then get a leash and snag her quick when she comes out. Put her in a seperate room while you move the pups then take the mother to her babies. If she refuses to come out for the food and water, which she should come out because she needs to eat, but if some chance she does not come out for a day, then you may have to see if you can get a rope around her neck and drag her out. The pups could drown if a storm were to come like you said you were expecting. If nothing else, her mothering instincts should kick in and she should move them on her own, but some do not. You need to try your best to remove her and the pups from outside, and do not give her the chance to bring them back out.

Remember that when you move the pups inside, create a warm safe place for her to be with her pups or she will not stay there. She will move them all over the house. Be careful as she seems protective, but that is signs of a good mama dog :)

Good Luck :)
