Dogs Attacking Smaller Dog What Can Animal Control Do

My Dog is attacking/going after other animals that cry or yelp. Why?

Our family dog, a six-year old Welsh Corgi, has a tendency to turn aggressive toward animals (cats or dogs) that cry out in pain, surprise, or growling in anger. He has been known to start fights with other dogs that bark at him for getting to close or attacking a puppy that yelps in surprise at the sight of him pushing his nose in their face.

He violently attacked one of our previous cats by grabbing its neck and shaking it about. The cat had, seconds before, been yelled at for scratching a piece of furniture and ran into the jowls of the corgi.

The first time he saw one of our new dogs, a 6-week old Tri-color corgi, he bolted at him and grabbed his neck with his teeth, nearly traumatizing the poor young dog.

This is a pretty serious problem, as we have two of these young dogs having entered our household in the last month, and we want him under control. Why is he attacking yelping/crying/growling animals, and how do we get him to stop?

P.S. He also gets antsy when hearing a "Tssst" noise or high-pitched noises like a heater squeaking.

Should I call Animal Control if I see a loose Pitbull that attacked my dog?

There is a Brown Pink nosed Pitbull right around the corner from my house. I always thought those stories about Pitbulls attacking dogs and kids were BS, until like about a month ago That Pitbull attacked my dog(Husky). I was walking him with a leash on of course, when I saw the Pitbull across the street from us, my dog didn't bark or do anything to provoke her, he simply ignored her. The Pitbull looked at us, and went down on her belly, I thought she wouldn't do anything so I just started to walk in a fast pace thinking that was a good idea. Well turns out it wasn't the Pitbull ambushed us from behind, they went at it for about a minute meanwhile I was trying to pull my dog away. The owner was no where in sight, luckily a man was on his way to help right before the Pitbull came at us I guess he knew how agressive that dog was anyways he tied a rope around the Pitbulls neck and pulled her away. My dog was fine, no injuries whatsoever.
It had been while since I'd seen the Pitbull till tonight, she was loose again. I was in my front yard when I saw her chasing a car.
The problem is that I am unsure if I should call Animal control next time I see her loose again. She did attack my dog I'm worried it might happen to another dog or a kid maybe.
Should I call animal control on her?

My dog attacked the dog walker and now she wants to call animal control. What should I do?

What were the events leading up to the attack? Was she just doing her job and the dog attacked her? Or was she bothering the dog and that was the end result? It doesnt matter if it was a small bite or a large bite, a dog should not be attacking humans unprovoked. At all. For any reason. If she's simply doing her job and the dog is biting and attacking her, it should not be around humans. What if it attacks a child? There is absolutely no excuse or justification for a dog to bite humans. I have a dog and would be horrified and devastated if she attacked a human. Dogs do not come before humans and attacking dogs should not be in society. Now if she was provoking it, that's different. An adult should know better than to provoke a dog and this is the lesson the dog taught her. What you should do is offer to pay any medical bills associated with your dog's attack. Also show her vet records proving it has all its shots. Also find out why your dog attacked. If it attacked unprovoked then the dog should not be out around humans. If she provoked the dog, then you need a new dog walker and some dog training so your dog wont bite anyone who acts stupid and tries to provoke it.

Is allowing your dog to attack small animals wrong?

Allowing your dog to attack ANYTHING is wrong - on every level and for numerous reasons. All animals are living, breathing things with physical and emotional feelings and aren't meant to get ripped up by a dog.Dogs that are encouraged or allowed to kill small animals develop aggressive behaviors that even you won't be able to control. They're more likely to bite and attack humans - including yourself. If it attacks and kills someone's pet or child your dog will be confiscated, quarantined and most likely be euthanized, you'll pay enormous fines, lawyer, court costs and of course a huge sum to the owner or parent as well as possible jail time.Couldn't you have thought this through on your own? How old are you? Your lack of insight is scary. Your question is really disturbing.

What do you do if animal control won't help and nothing else works to keep neighbor's dog out of ours?

We keep our dog in a pen or on a leash. The neighbor's dog has come into our yard and attacked our dog more than 5 times. When he is in the pen, the other dog bites at the pen and pushes up against the pen. This makes our dog very upset. We have talked to her but nothing works. We contacted animal control and they can not help. We are outside the city limits so there is no leash law. We both are renters and do not have fences. The landlord has been very lenient and allowed us to have the dog (against her better wishes) since he has not damaged the property and is very controlled. Therefore, we hate to ask her to handle the "dog issue."
Is there anything someone can suggest in addition to what we have already tried? We do not want to kill the dog (which the police said we can if he is on our property and attacking our property, person, or livestock) and want that as a last resort.
Has anyone taken anything like this to small claims court? I did not want to say this prior to now, but ours is a very well trained and docile pit bull. He is very timid and actually gets very sad after the other dog messes with him. Our dog has not been trained to "fight." We do not want him to develop aggressiveness (yes, I know that have a tendency towards being aggressive) from being attacked all of the time. Our dog is very good and calm around other dogs and all ages of people and strangers. Of course, with the dog's reputation, we are very cautious with him.
Please try to answer without considering the breed of the dog.

Do foxes attack small dogs?

It depends how large your dogs are. If they're larger then a fox then the fox would only attack if it was cornered, however if your dogs are smaller then there is a chance the fox would attack. Be aware that if a fox is rabid it will attack you or the dogs! I would tell you that when you let your dogs out just watch them and if you see a fox call them in immediately.

What does the law say about pit bulls that keep attacking little dogs and what can be done so my dog is safe when walking him?

First off don’t walk your dog where it’s been reported that there are bad dogs. The law says that any dangerous animal first must be quarantined until its found not to be rabid and then usually euthanized if it’s attacked animals and or humans multiple times unprovoked.

Can I kill the attacking dog if they attack my dog?

Yes, you can. Legally and perhaps morally you’re right. The moral side is only perhaps, because you should only do it if the other dog is definitely dangerous, and not just growling and snapping at your dog.I had dogs for several years, since my early teenage years. I am an experienced trainer. Once we had three and a half German Shepherds, they were a beautiful pack. They were all highly trained, they never even needed a leash for walks. Time to time however, some idiot dog tried to attack my “wolves”. Usually because its owner was also an idiot. If he did nothing to stop his mutt, I didn’t stop the wolves either. The difference was, as I wrote, ours were trained, and not only obedience training. The pack leader was nothing short of the canine equivalent of a martial artist. If the other dog was really dangerous, and this usually meant some douchebag’s pitbull, I often helped my pack and beat the shit out of the attacker. If the douchebag intervened, he came next. You are part of the pack, you are one with them. Your dog would die for you any day. Do appreciate it and try to return at least part of it. If that dog attacks, protect your dog, and if necessary, yes, kill it.I do warn you though, aggressive dogs often have aggressive owners, and you will have to teach him a lesson too. I’d say in 50% of the cases if a dog attacked us, there had to be at least some punches delivered to the owner as well.

What recourse do I have after a large dog attacked and killed my little dog?

I am so sorry you lost your little dog, I also have a Shih Tzu and they are wonderful little creatures.Mark Blanchard is right it depends on the circumstances. When my little 12 pound Chip was attacked by a 70 pound shepherd mix, Chip was on a public road and leashed, the other dog was unleashed and crossed a road and an empty lot to reach him. This occurred in the USA in Pennsylvania. Chip lived through the attack with emergency vet care. I was able to call the dog warden (our local animal control) and have the other owner cited, he had to pay a fine and vet bills after proving rabies vaccination and a hearing.  This was also not his first attack but was the first one reported, as was discovered at the hearing. In the event of a pets death, unfortunately for the feelings of the pet owner (parent?), the law considers the animal as property and compensates based on replacement value. The attack issue is considered as a public safety issue.

My 6 month old Pomeranian almost got attacked by Husky!!!!!!!?

OMG I am still completely shaken from an incident that happened about 15 mins ago. So I took my adorable 5 pound Pomeranian outside to do his business. I always keep him on a leash because I'm afraid he will run off. So after he is done peeing he was just kind of running around on his leash in the yard (it's one of those ones that stretch like 20 feet) and then out of NO WHERE this big *** Siberian Husky comes RUNNING into our yard. At first they were just sniffing each other. My dog is very friendly with other dogs and just tries to play with them. But he was a lil intimidated and just kind of sat there and then all of a sudden the Husky starts growling at my Pom and chasing him in a circle! My lil baby was SCREAMING his head off! So I yelled for my brother and he got ahold of the Husky by his collar and we seperated them. I tried calling the phone number on his ID tags but it isn't in service so I had my brother walk him home since his house is close to ours. Should I report this???
