Doing Course In Data Warehousing Suggest Me.

Which universities and courses should a data warehousing developer consider for doing his master's degree in the United States, Canada, Germany or other countries?

A2A!  Regarding University: The best I can say is that you can check out QS World University Ranking for Computers, and Information Technology discipline  followed by the identifying faculty working in data warehousing area and then decide the country where you will study. Also note that getting admission may be easy but there is no guarantee that you will get a visa. Hence short list a few universities and then applying for admission. Regarding Course: You can opt for Management Information system, Big Data, Business intelligence  or any other relevant course. Hope you can proceed with further course of action.

What is the best way to learn data warehousing?

A Data Warehouse is often referred to as an OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) Database as opposed to traditional relational database designs known as OLTP (Online Analytical Transaction Processing).Learn Data Warehousing TerminologyThere are several terms, processes and terminologies that are peculiar to Data Warehousing which you have to learn. These include terms like OLAP, MOLAP, HOLAP, DATAMART, CUBE, ETC. You may find a complete list of these terms in the article titled: How To Become A Data Warehouse ArchitectStart By Becoming A Database DeveloperData warehouses are essentially large aggregated databases designed to support Decision Making, Analysis and Reporting.Building a DataWarehouse is like designing a de-normaliez databases. In other words, you invert some of the principles you’ve learnt to practice as a relational database developer. In addition, data warehousing architects extract and aggregate data from several relational databases, so the first step to becoming a data warehousing architect is to learn database development. In addition, no-one will probably give you a data warehousing architect job if you don’t already know how to design or develop optimized relational databases. So, this is not a career for freshers but a career that you can grow into after getting strong experience as a database developer.Looking for Data warehousing Training with Industry Trainers.. How do I pursue career in Data Warehousing?

Datawarehousing is an Umbrella term. What you should be thinking is something which is called Business Intelligence professional. (That is what they technically keep posting even in Job portals too, my friend). And this BI is again divided with respect to job profiles namely ETL side or reporting side. If its ETL it would be more on working on tools like Datastage, Informatica, SSIS, ODI etc which are data integration tools and if its Reporting then you would be learning tools like Qlikview, Tableau, Microstrategy pulling the reports and making dashboards for better business decisions. These reports typically comes after the ETL process is finished.ETL again has job functions like Development or Support role which you need not worry about as you are just a fresher now.So BI which is combination of ETL + Reporting profile would have more options to explore….As you have already taken a course, I presume it would be a course on any ETL tool. Try for some internship opportunities in some tier 3 companies with help of any friend or contacts/network to get some real time experience. Okay, I have generalized this now but to be honest this will never work. IT or lets say good companies would prefer candidates who are already experienced in some or the other BI tool for atleast 2 years. So fresher jobs are very minimum out there. Ain’t trying to demotivate you but thats the bitter truth. Even if you get into a company with zero exp, they would be moving you to the technology based on the training they give you. So define your path, way ahead.[And again, never work for any consultancy which lures freshers to write any bond or contract signing for 1–2 years or such. Its a trap ! ]See if you get a placement, be it oncampus or offcampus, just prepare yourself to explain the you are striving to make a career in DWBI and let them know why you are interested in it. Let them know you like Analytics. Let them know you like Data. Once selected, join the company and just pray that you will fall under the right department. We cannot plan anything in Software. We can only be prepared !All the best !

I have database background and want to become a data warehouse specialist (mostly interested on Microsoft BI). Which course will be more beneficial for me in my degree, analysis of algorithm or object-oriented programming?

If you are asking about your academic subject(Which I think are elective) then I will suggest you to select Analysis of Algo rather than OOP. Since AOA will help you in data mining algorithm learning and OOP will help you in .Net development platform. For SQL developer point of view:Start with basic of SQLIf you already know basic SQL then go for other advanced technology like (SSRS,SSIS,SSAS)

What are some good examples for data warehouse project?

Here's one, from over 15 years ago.Client: A state level department of education.Context: current systems are silos of data, seperating school districts, college and universities. Data is also either by school year or term. Master data (student id, teacher id, school id) is not managed properly. Code values (course codes, diploma codes, etc.) are hardly shared.Project goal: provide a statistical base for longitudinal studies that will help identify long-term impacts, such as “do students who take algebra in grade 9 have better results when attending university, and in what field?” (This was just a simple example we often used, certainly not limiting.)Project deliverables: An Education Data Warehouse that integrates data from Kindergarten through Doctorate level, sourced from 20 systems. The EDW respected the Inmon approach.Yes, the project was a success, the PK20-EDW was praised by data scientists and education specialists. The data in it is anonymous. As far as I know, it is still being loaded monthly.

Can MS Access be used in handling logistic warehousing and distribution?

Yes, Both MS Access & Excel can be used for those things.
I have even seen them used together.

Usually MS Access comes with "Templates" of databases that can be automatically set up and all you have to do is enter data. Click "NEW DATABASE" and Look through the template listing to see if one matches (or is very close to) what You would be needing. If it's not there You may have to have Access re-installed with the "FULL INSTALL" rather than the "Recommended".

Check out the "NORTHWIND.mdb" sample DB available free from the Microsoft Knowledge base (It's actually a sample of what You are asking about!). And I would recommend a quick course in MS Access development befor trying to make any changes to the Templates.

But Access and Excel both DO have limitations. Excel can not have more than 16K rows on any given spreadsheet, and both have a "FILE SIZE LIMIT" imposed by windows. For MS ACCESS the "File size limit" is 2 GB. Work-arounds for this usually involve good data management (like deleting/archiving old records) and LINKING several DBs to each other so EACH ONE can grow to 2 GB.
The size limitations usually only come into play for MAJOR applications (like coordinating a chain of warehouses).

Alternativley I know there are some FREE-WARE database programs available, but they are most likely not as flexible to use as MS Access, nor as well developed.

I dont think my current job is hard its just that its anoying getting yelled at to go faster and faster when you are already doing everything as fast as possible.
