What's some advice for a tourist shopping in the Divisoria in Manila?
DIVISORIA SHOPPING RULES: CAMOUFLAGEDO NOT show your phone (meaning DO NOT bring it out at all unless it is very necessary). Don't put it (as well as your wallet) in your back pocket. Put it in front and always check if it is still there. Have a shopping buddy (a local if you know one). Do not go alone. A buddy can serve as boredom killer and bodyguard too. More people, less chances robbers will target you. However do not be too invested on talking. Keep your attention on your belongings.Only bring enough money. Do not bring too much cash. Best if you do not bring your cards too.Do not overdress. Look normal so that you blend in. If you're a foreigner, it is best if you try to achieve the Filipino look. Just wear T-shirts and shorts. No sunglasses! You must see things clearly like a hawk!Divisoria prices are cheap/bargaining price. Chances are if you look foreign or rich, they will take advantage of you and price higher. Pretend like you know exactly what the prices should be! If they say it is 300, say half the price. "Can I take it for a 15o?" If they say no, say "200?" Do not buy at all if they don't want to give you at least a 20% discount. Better if you buy in front of a Filipino customer. Vendors will be shy to lie to you if there's a Filipino customer around.
