Drinking Raw Milk Post Workout

Is it ok to drink a glass of milk before workout?

Milk is good to drink both before and after a workout. Before a workout, it provides a simple carbohydrate in an easily digestible form. A good pre-workout snack might be something like a bowl of low-fiber, whole-grain cereal with organic milk or almond milk and a mini banana about an hour before. Research shows that chocolate milk has the optimal ratio of carbohydrates to protein to help refuel recovering muscles.  A post-workout meal isn't just about protein. It should include a meal that will help in:muscle repair replete glycogen, the carbohydrate stored in muscle tissue, which serves as a primary fuel source during exercisereplenish nutrientshealing of muscles rehydrate the loss of waterHence, food like bananas, alomond milk (or any other milk), raw egg, (any) nut butter is a preferrable diet.Example:The Perfect Post Workout Smoothie:1-2 Frozen Bananas1 heaped tablespoon of nut butter (choice of almond, organic peanut or cashew nut) 1 ½ Cup Almond Milk (or your choice of milk) Optional additions (organic whey protein concentrate powder, raw cacao, raw egg, cinnamon, flax, chia etc.)

What to eat/drink after a workout?

low fat chocolate milk is great after a workout. the protein helps repair your muscles, calcium helps strengthens your bones, and the glucose and carbs help restore your energy levels. i recommend lactaid chocolate milk. less fat and more calcium and protein. i drink it everyday :D

Raw Eggs and Milk for post workout?

as long as you don't get sick from the uncooked eggs the protein intake is good after a workout after a workout i eat 6 egg whites 2 cups of milk and a cereal bar. eggs only have about 6 grams of protein so for working out eggs isn't much i would say eat 3 eggs and enough milk to supply at least 7 grams of protein for im a firm believer of having at least 25 grams of protein after a workout once again thou i don't care for the raw egg idea but bruce lee did it and look at him just be care full not to get sick

Should i drink raw eggs before/after i work out?

Before. Eggs are a slow releasing protein, you ideally want a fast releasing protein post-workout without fat to slow down digestion. Chocolate milkshake is an ideal thing to have post-workout, plenty of simple carbs in it to speed up recovery.

If you're gonna drink them raw it's safe to make sure that the hens they are from are salmonella vaccinated, as it's a risk. Whether you drink them raw or have them boiled/poached makes no difference to the nutrition.

What is a good post workout meal?

Post-workout microtears have been made in the muscle fibers. This is why you need protein delivered quickly to the body. Milk or chicken and real foods are not optimal sources of protein post-workout (although non-processed, organic chicken is a great source of protein at other times).

They are both fairly slow-digesting protein, and they can take up to an hour to be delivered to the body. I'd recommend a scoop of whey protein mixed with water, which can reach the body within 15 minutes. I'm not encouraging that you base your diet off supplements now, but post-workout is really one time that real foods are beaten by supplements.

One scoop of whey protein is 24 grams. You may decide to take 2 scoops post-workout, which is 48 grams of protein. Post-workout your protein to carbohydrate ratio should be 1:2 or 1:4. So you would want around 96 grams of carbohydrates post-workout.

The source of carbohydrates should have a high Glycemic Index (GI). The Glycemic Index tells you how fast a carbohydrate raises blood sugar levels. High GI carbohydrates raise blood sugar levels quickly. This causes insulin, a storage hormone that regulates blood sugar levels, to be secreted in larger amounts than with carbohydrates with a low or medium GI.

When insulin is secreted, it normally stores glycogen (excess glucose, or sugar) in the adipose (fat) tissue. However, post-workout, glycogen from the muscles and liver were depleted for quick energy.

Whenever glycogen can be stored in the muscles and liver, it goes there before the adipose tissue. Therefore, post-workout glycogen will be stored in the muscles and liver. This is good because it will put you in an anabolic state.

After workouts you're in a catabolic state in which your body is burning muscle mass for energy. Consuming high GI carbohydrates after a workout will help put you back in an anabolic state in which your body builds muscle. I'm not going into detail for this unless you want me to, hopefully I didn't confuse you.

So a sample post-workout meal:

-1 cup water mixed with 1/2 scoops whey protein
-1 cup organic raisins bought from a health food store, like Whole Foods
