What fabric is on a Santa costume?

I am looking to make a Santa Claus costume and I am not sure what fabric to look for. I have the red crushed velvet but I don't know where to get the white fluffy fabric that is usually on the lining of the outfit. Does anyone know what it is called? I know it is not faux fur because it has too much of a hair looking texture.

What can I use to light-up my homemade robot costume?

For Halloween I am going to go as a robot- I have silver boots and I plan to sew a silver skirt and top. I just have to figure out how to embellish my outfit with lights, dials, etc. I want it to look really cool and futuristic- but aside from normal battery powered xmas lights, I'm not sure where I can find cool stuff to make my costume glow.
