Some facial hair (like you haven't shaved a few days, not a real beard and certainly not a goatee) is good, because it indicates you're a MAN.Wearing natural materials, like denim, leather, linen, cotton - gives an earthly feel, like you're a man who works with his hands type of a guy. I also have wide shoulders, I feel your pain. Like the commentors before me stated: don't take pictures straight on if you have any forewarning. Angle one shoulder toward the camera, one away, like so: It can also help to put your hand on your hip or waist, in your pocket, etc. The length you add there might sound counter-intuitive, but when viewed, you can no longer tell the breadth, and the interesting angle takes on visual interest. You see this pose in many fashion shoots: As far as clothing goes, stay away from halter tops, bikinis or other tops that tie, or otherwise finish at the neck.
