According to this unsolicited email, the recipient's Yahoo account will be closed permanently unless he or she replies with account details within one week. The email asks for the account holder's username and password and other personal information and claims to be from the "YahooMail message center". However, the message is not from Yahoo and is designed to steal account information from recipients. Those who follow the instructions in the email will actually be supplying their account details directly to scammers. Once their receive the requested details, the criminals responsible can then access the victim's Yahoo account directly, including email and any personal information stored within the account. Yahoo would never request account details such as username and passwords via an unsolicited email. Moreover, Yahoo already has methods in place to deal with inactive accounts. It certainly would not send out emails threatening customers with account closures if they do not supply account information within one week. Any unsolicited email claiming to be from Yahoo that requests sensitive information such as usernames and passwords is quite likely to be a phishing scam. Yahoo has warned customers about phishing scams in an article on its website (check it below). If you receive this email or a similar one, do not reply to the email or supply any of the information requested. Do not click on any links in such messages as they may lead to fake web pages that are designed to look like genuine Yahoo login pages. Login details and any other information supplied on these fake web pages can be collected by scammers and used for fraud and identity theft.

Thousands are having all kinds of problems with their mail since the new format, with Server Farm issues with Original Mail AND Beta Mail, several months ago! Yahoo! and Sun Java are also having conflicts. Rather than trying to work around them, here is the easy and fastest way to cure them (for most). Go to Tools, open Internet Options, and select Advance tab. Scroll down the list and see if you have Microsoft Virtual Machine listed, if so, uncheck the 2 java’s listed. Make sure JIT is checked, click apply then ok. and then Close. This lets MSN virtual machine launch Yahoo! mail. If you don't have MSN VM, get it here: http://mad.msnfanatic.com/index.php/Down... Also: you will have less problems with Mail if you sign in via Messenger! Go to preferences, general, then check box: Automatically sign me in when I click a Yahoo! link in Messenger. Then click on the little envelope icon on top of messenger box. Or go to My Yahoo and click on your mail link. Or click on the Big RED Y! on the Yahoo! Toolbar. Bottom line is any link that already has you signed in!!! I recommend that you use Original Mail until beta works out the bugs. Just click on Switch Back on the top of your mail page. FYI, beta means TESTING. Go back to IE6 which works just fine and is problem free. It is still installed on your pc. Just go to Start, setting, and add/remove programs and delete IE7. If you are using Yahoo Mail Plus, and your server farm has problems, switch to the free service until things are worked out. NOTE: Use beta software at your own risk; it is intended for testing and evaluation purposes only. Do not install beta software on your primary computer or production environment. As I got no help from Customer Care at au-mail@cc.yahoo-inc.com, it is hope that I can find the answers to the following questions, even those all I wanted to find out is a simple question of why the Yahoo Email Anti-Virus Program wasn’t working (Ref Number KMM86467413V92458L0KM)? 1) Why Yahoo Staff not reading my email's before sending out standard template reply that has nothing to do with my questions and doesn't help, but in fact wastes time? 2) Why Yahoo Staff it seems blame me for what is a Yahoo Problem? 3) Why Yahoo Staff Members don't talk to other Yahoo Staff Member? 4) Why Yahoo Staff give me strange answers like saying I need a screen print of when the problem happens? I see no FAQ, or at least not by the actual name, and I clicked on many links and saw no "NO" to click on to do a Customer Care Help Request Form. There aren't any links, even by search engine, to take me to a Customer Care Help Request Form. I've been trying to change my password for an account where my old one doesn't work anymore and the "Change Password" system says I can't do it online and must call them, which I have multiple times, only telling me things that don't work. At least let me verify my name, age/DOB, address, etc. as proof and just change it already. It's been over a month and I need my old account, for personal and security reasons. And I repeat: The Change Password system tells me that it cannot change it online, only for me to call them with no help. I can't even answer my security questions even though I can with my new account.

The above phone numbers and links are unfulfilled promises. They ultimately lead back to discussion groups with literally thousands of posts most of which have no replies. I was unable to find the dubious option to "email customer care" mentioned on the 800 number after a full 20 minutes of following links online today. I was however able fill out surveys! Whew hoo!
