Engagement Ring Advice

Walmart engagement ring, Should I be mad? Advice please ?

My fiancée and I just got engaged this weekend and have been together 3 years. We just had our new little girl two weeks ago and everything seems perfect to be honest.  Im beyond excited everything is good but my sister was looking at my ring and according to her my ring is pretty but it's a Walmart ring (she used to work there). She says it's not a 10 dollar one but it's still only like 150.

I personally don't care that much at all because to be honest I don't really need a expensive engagement ring if we are getting each other wedding rings right after. But she swears its so horrible. Then even told my grandma about it but my grandma agreed with me it's not that huge of a deal because it's still the meaning behind it that matters.

Is it really that bad?
I personally love it.

Advice please ??

Advice on Tolkowsky Diamond (engagement ring)?

My fiance and I are looking into a diamond (engagement ring) at Kay Jewelers right now and would like some advice please on the diamond.

It is a Tolkowsky Ideal Cut Round Brilliant Diamond, here are the specs:

https://www.gemscience.net/PDF/T8509000301.GCETFQZRGU.pdf

We read that all Kay Tolkowsky Diamonds are IGI certified so slightly confused why the certificate says GSI. We would have preferred GIA certified but Kay does not carry these on hand. We were told that GSI follows the same standards as GIA and the Tolkowsky Diamonds are also already laser inscribed (in the girdle) with the certificate# whereas GIA diamond are not laser inscribed, and to have this done would cost hundreds more...

Aside from the Certification, this is truly a gorgeous diamond and really shines and sparkles. It also is a 3/4 carat diamond, but when compared to a 1 carat diamond of different standards it looks just as big as a 1 carat and shines and sparkles even more. It's really pretty... but we just want to make sure it's truly worth the cost. Kay is asking $4,999 for this diamond. DIAMOND ONLY. We will be putting it in a Neil Lane setting. (Links below). With an upcoming sale, we can get this Tolkowsky Diamond for $4,000.

Advice/Suggestions/Comments please.

Im afraid of losing my engagement ring. any advice?

My new fiance popped the question and presented me with a beautiful ring with lots of shiny diamonds. But this ring feels like it weights 200lbs on my hand and makes me paranoid. I know its exspensive and he used a lot of his hard earned money on it. But I honestly never had jewelery worth more than $10. And I never kept track of my costume jewelry for longer than a week. Anything can happen to it, it could fall down the garbage disposal or the toilet or the shower it someone could rob me of it or I would most likely simply misplace it. It makes me so uncomfortable the though of loosing such a exspensive ring that sometimes I just want to take it off and put it in a safe but I know that it would upset him if I don't wear it and show it off. I never been good at keeping track of items so small. What if I actually lose it, he would be super disapointed in me :( any advice to fight the paranoia I am feeling

Best advice on buying engagement rings on a budget?

He needs to really save up a bit. Saving for an engagement ring is suppose to be a hardship. It shows his fiance that he will think of himself last to put her first.
Buy him some groceries and let him wait and save.

Some one suggested a 1/7 total ct weight. You won't be able to even see that. It's more of a promise ring.
At least save up for 1/2 ct.

Advice on soldering wedding rings/engagement rings together?

Ok, I have a few questions regarding my rings. My fiance bought me two enhancers to go with my engagement ring after the wedding, one for each side of the ring. One is technically the "wedding band" and the other is just a wedding "gift" but because they are curved bands, it looks better to have both. When I tried them on, they seem to move around a bit and don't match up all the time with where the curved part should sit. Is it unusual to have the three soldered together and what are the pros and cons? I would never wear the band by itself because it's a curved band and would look strange. The rings came from Kay's...has anyone had any experience from there with soldering rings together--did they do a good job, and how long did it take? I hate the idea of being without my ring for two weeks leading up to the wedding. I had considered taking it to another jeweler to get it done same-day; would this ruin my warranty at Kay's? Any advice or comments on this topic would be greatly appreciated! :) Thanks.

Is $800 to $1000 enough to spend one an Engagement Ring? and any advice that can be given will be nice.?

The budget is not as important as the knowledge you need before going shopping. So I would like to give you some pointers to help you out.

First - NEVER pay full price for jewellry. Its is marked up a rediculous amount. Also, if you are paying cash, most jewellers (especially ones that are not chains) are willing to negotiate with you.

Most jewellers also have lay-away plans if you find something you have to have and its just a bit out of your budget.

Consider the fact that your girl will be wearing this ring every day for the rest of her life. So it needs to be sturdy and strong. You have a couple of options for this: First look for a ring that has some weight to it - not something that's paper thin. Gold by its nature is soft, so the thinner the band the more likely it is to bend or break.

Also, on that same topic, consider going for a 10, 12, or 14 karat gold. It doesn't affect the color much but the lower the karat weight the stronger the ring will be. (most jewellers will try to push you to an 18 + karat and you don't need that)

In regards to the stone you have lots of options. Again the jeweller will like try to persuade you to the highest quality of diamond you can afford, but the truth is - in your price range you could end up with something really tiny. Instead you can compromise a little and look at some diamonds that may have a small shadow in them. Even with that, lots will have great sparkle factor, and usually people can't even tell.

Another option which a lot of people are moving to is to not bother with a diamond at all. The latest trends are moving towards sturdy gemstones like blue saphires which are gorgeous and way cheaper than diamonds. Not to mention being a real statment.

Some even go with celtic knots or antique rings as well which are beautiful and will help you with your budget.

I hope that helps. :)
