How do I study for the 10th ICSE exam in English literature?

LOTS of people will tell you lots of things but frankly speaking ICSE English is not a simpleton thing, scoring in other subjects is far simpler than scoring in English, simply because ICSE English curriculum is the best in the country at its level and it is what makes ICSE stand out from other boards , well I can give u SOME pointers for ur preparation. In literature paper (i.e PAPER 2) You should be thorough with the text of whatever story or play you are preparing, and by thorough I mean u should basically remember the entire jist of every chapter along with the exact lines from the text in paras of key plot points or where u feel something important is happening in the story , same goes for your plays. If preparing Shakespeare make ur own notes, write the importance and characterization of each character from ur perspective and how u find he/she plays an important role in development of the plot. Discuss with ur English teacher the importance of each scene and its relevance to the wider world of the play, and MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP IN MIND SHAKESPEARE WAS CONSIDERED THE GREATEST PLAYWRIGHT for a reason each segment of his plays highlighted some social problem in his era and yes questions are asked in that context too, so try to understand if the lines refer or allude to any such point. While writing answers be PRECISE don't beat about the bush blabbering won't help in ICSE English if the person correcting ur answer is proficient, write to the point answer and expand and quote lines directly from the text they'll earn u credit and make an impression in the examiner's mind.PAPER1 is relatively easier contact ur English teacher and ask her to suggest some essays, letters and comprehension, practice them then show it to ur teacher and take his/hers feedback to improve on ur essays and then for grammar u can practice from various guide books available only after consulting with ur teacher,of course. JUST DON'T LOSE HOPE OR BECOME TOO Overconfident.HOPE THIS HELPS U, With a bit of a smart work my strategies helped me score 95 in ICSE English , there even have been people who scored 100.ALL THE BEST PREPARING.(P.S U can practice workbooks by XAVIER AND PAMELA PINTO if u like)(Pls upvote if u found this useful)

What are the best English Literature facts?

There are a plethora of literature facts.Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote The Scarlet Letter using a narrator that is similar to Hawthorne in almost every way - family history, prior job, passion for writing, etc. Yet, despite the overwhelming and glaring reasons as to why Hawthorne is the narrator, the narrator is unnamed and assumed to be a different person than Hawthorne. There are only four words that end in “dous”: tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, hazardous. In the poem The Raven, the raven seems to torment the narrator while at the same time enlightening him of his love’s death. However, the original bird of choice by Poe was a parrot. It was changed to a raven due to how out of place the parrot would be in the poem.Moby Dick has a famous line, “Call me Ishmael.”, which basically sets the premise for the entire book in only the first line, adding a veil of mystery about the protagonist as well as a sense of loss.Well, you get four facts. The second one may not relate to literature, but it’s still interesting.

Werewolf questions for experts?

Wolfsbane isn't the only plant connected to the lycanthropy legends. In "Werewolf of London", a plant that can cure is sought: Mariphasa Lupina Lumina aka Wolf Flower. Of course, this is a fictional plant, but it has been referenced on lists of plants mentioned in literature and in films.

From Wikipedia:
Wilfred Glendon is a wealthy and world-renowned English botanist who journeys to Tibet in 1935 in search of the elusive mariphasa plant. While there, he is attacked and bitten by a creature later revealed to be a werewolf, although he succeeds in acquiring a specimen of the mariphasa. Once back home in London he is approached by a fellow botanist, Dr. Yogami, who claims to have met him in Tibet while also seeking the mariphasa. Yogami warns Glendon that the bite of a werewolf would cause him to become a werewolf as well, adding that the mariphasa is a temporary antidote for the disease.

Previous responders are correct about wolfsbane.
From Wikipedia:
Aconitum (A-co-ní-tum), known as aconite, monkshood, wolfsbane, leopard's bane, women's bane, Devil's helmet or blue rocket, is a genus of flowering plant belonging to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). There are over 250 species of aconitum. ... The fruit is a follicle. It was said in former times that wolfsbane was the only way to tell a werewolf: if the flower cast a yellow shadow on the suspected shape-shifter's chin, the werewolf test was positive.

NOTE: Wolfsbane has been used in various ways in literature and movies, often as a plant to keep werewolves away though I did see films and read stories that suggest it as a cure and others that have it lethal to lycanthropes.

Here's some more information from Wikipedia that repeats what I said about movies I've seen and fiction I've read:
Wolfsbane has been ascribed with supernatural powers in the mythology relating to werewolves and other lycanthropes, either to repel them, relating to aconite's use in poisoning wolves and other animals, or in some way induce their lycanthropic condition, as aconite was often an important ingredient in witches' magic ointments. In folklore, aconite was also said to make a person into a werewolf if it is worn, smelled, or eaten. They are also said to kill werewolves if they wear, smell, or eat aconite.
