I don't know what you've written so far, but you could include: intro- outline of what self harm and suicide is and how many people do it section 1 - self harm, what kind of people self harm, why they self harm, methods of self harm, the mis diagnosis and lack of knowledge about self harm, dispelling the myths about self harm and the reality that self harmers aren't really attention seeking (look how they hide their scars), what help is offered to those who self harm section 2 - suicide, line between self harm and then attempting suicide (there is a very strong line), why people attempt suicide, the most popular methods, the reality of suicide (for example, there is a distinct lack of education, take hanging for example, that's one of the most common forms of suicide, people don't tend to realize that a proper hanging will have a particular knot on the noose and a calculated drop to ensure the neck is broken almost instantly, in suicide hangings though people don't know these things and just strangle themselves by asphyxiation, one of the most horrible ways to die). Look at the help there is for those suffering with depression and suicidal thoughts. Section 3 - look at the charities (such as the samaritans) who offer help and support and other organisations and assess how highly they are regarded and how well known they are, how much support they offer. Finally link this to the disturbing number of people who attempt suicide and self harm. There is clearly not enough help. Conclusion - make it clear that teenagers need educating, a bad break up is not enough to kill yourself. People these days see death as a way out, they don't think of it as a waste, or selfish and they don't think of the effects on their friends and family. Also consider how so many people and teenagers aren't taken seriously, no one believes they are really suicidal and even if friends and family did believe, it's difficult to accept and get that child help. People need help and trust me (take it from some one who knows) there is not enough help for those who self harm or are suicidal.
