English - Interview Essay- What Are You Working For

Is good English conversation required for PSU interview?

You will be tested for your vocabulary. I recommend you to increase your vocab to a minimum of 2000 words.Did I mention about the essay ?You need to write an essay within 1000 words. The topic for the same can be anything. Be it the Growing Economic Disparity, Oil Crisis, Gulf War , (insert any topic under the sky) and what not !!Did I miss the accuracy of grammar ?Oh boy, you need to be really good with that. One wrong usage of a preposition can cost you the whole interview. So hope I have answered your query !!Hey just kidding!! Nothing written above is true :D :DWhile good English is an added advantage during the interview, it can never be the deciding parameter to judge you.The interview shall consist of a few HR questions followed by some basic questions from your engineering discipline.( I was asked to draw Bending Moment diagrams for beams with different type of loading conditions). So just relax. It won’t be that tough.Prepare yourself for the common HR questions.Remember more weightage is given to your GATE score than the GD/PI.All the best.

Interview questions for a profile essay?

I have profile essay due in english and I'm lost about what questions to ask. The person I want to interview is a guy who runs a Cross Fit company. I need help with questions to ask him and how to go about this essay.

Can you please answer my interview questions on writing?

1.What do you remember about learning to write in school? Not much, if you're talking elementary school. Mostly, I remember having to write lots of essays in my advanced high school English classes. Thankfully, I got to write on books and subjects that really interested me. I especially enjoyed writing a paper in my senior year based on Wuthering Heights. We had to do lots of research and rewrites, too, but we had a great teacher.

2.What is the most memorable item you have written?
I wrote a five page (well, seven pages) on a work by Jean Jacques Rousseau. It was really intriguing to write about someone with ideas that were so oddly similar to my own. (Of course, many of his ideas were complete nonsense, in my opinion, such as his ideas about women and love. Also, fun to write about.)

3.How has writing been important in your life?
Writing has been a part of nearly every job I've held over the last few years. I worked as a journalist, writing articles on entertainment, as a PR person writing press releases for the community, and I currently write a blog for my company. Also, I keep two personal blogs: one that is journal-like and the other based on cooking.

4.How do you use writing in your current situation? your job? school?
See the above answer.

5.If you had to write a story or essay, would you rather use your life experiences or research as your basis?
I think I'd want to use some of both. Though, mostly because I've had a rather dull life. :) I have traveled a lot, so I could see me equating myself to a great traveler like Marco Polo (grandiosely, of course).

6.If you were starting a new piece of writing, what would you do first? How would you begin to write?
It would depend on the project. For fiction, I've simply worked from the top of my brain. Though, I usually have SOME idea/outline about where the story is going, even if the outline is just a list of words/situations. I write longer, more detailed outlines for research or more serious writing projects. (I think a good, complex book or article would need a lot of forethought.)

7.Once you gather your ideas, would you organize them? If so, how?
Again, I like a good outline to begin a project. I flesh out a certain scene or idea with details or research material as I go along.
