Every Time I Try To Go On The Internet My Dsl Go Red And It Stays Like That For The Rest Of The

Why does the power light stay red on my speedstream 4100 dsl modem?

The modem works but I do have internet problems. Ive used like 5 modems and still have problems but I am wondering if all the modems have had issues. On this particular modem, the power light stays red. All the time, even when the rest of the lights are solid green. What does this mean?

just FYI, the internet goes sooooooo slow at night and i get frequent disconnects. At times I cant access the modem setup page. Im frustrated!

How can I check if my internet IP address is static or dynamic?

How to Check Whether your IP address is Static or Dynamic? You can call or contact your ISP by email and ask them if you are using an external dynamic or static IP address. Alternatively, check your current IP address, note it down, and then restart your router. Once done, check your IP address again. If it is still the same, you have a static IP address. If you see a new IP address, it means you are using a dynamic IP address. If you want to check whether you are using an internal dynamic or static IP, follow these steps. How can I check if have an internal static or dynamic IP on Windows? If you are on a PC, open the program “Command Prompt“Type in “ipconig /all” without the quotations and hit enter.Check whether there is a ‘Yes’ or a ‘No’ next to ‘DHCP Enabled’.If you see ‘Yes’, it means you are using a dynamic IP address. If there is a ‘No’, you have a static IP address. How to check if you are using an internal dynamic or static IP on Mac?Open ‘System Preferences’ and go to ‘Network’.Click on ‘Advanced’ and then go to ‘TCP/IP‘.If you see ‘Manual’ next to ‘Configure IPv4’, you are using a static IP address. If you see ‘Using DHCP’, you have a dynamic IP.Source: Static IP vs Dynamic IP What is the Difference? - What Is My IP Address Location

What causes a red internet light on a router?

Most OS’s and Router OS’s define Internet as “can I get to the DNS server specified in my settings” Try to ping 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. If you cannot ping them, the Layer 3 portion of your internet connection is not working, first power off both modem and router (if separate), then power on the router FIRST, then once it comes up and is running then power on the modem (when modems come online they do a broadcast of the configuration that the router will need, some do it periodically, some only on bootup, thus why the router needs to be up and ready for the broadcast first), if the issue still persists, then you need to contact your service provider. If you can ping either of those then you can navigate to the internet, but you cannot resolve Domain Names. Those two addresses are Google’s open DNS servers. go to your router’s settings and replace your ISPs DNS servers with those addresses (yes, that means Google will have access to a list of every Domain you go to but most people use google for searching and chrome for browsing so they already get that info, and your ISP has already been collecting and selling that data anyway.)

How do i fix the red internet light on a speedstream 4300 modem from windstream?

Red lights mean your Internet service is having a problem. It's time to document several instances, then you need to call your ISP and let them know what's going on and how annoying it is.

Good Luck!

Can anyone solve my internet issue?

Unless you're somehow disrupting the DSL signal, then it's almost certainly an ISP problem

As far as diagnosing the problem, you haven't given us very much information about how you're connected to the internet? Wirelessly? wirelessly from a router in your own home? wired via Ethernet? are there other computers on the network? Could others on the network be accessing the router around the time when you lose the connection? Is your router scheduled to do anything at 5:00?

Here's a few steps I would take ( bearing in mind this reflects very little insight on my part, considering how little I know about your network. ):::

1) if you use a splitter device ( a device that turns one phone-line into two ) then I would suggest trying it without that. ( take out the phone and the splitter and just plug in your router/modem )
- If the connection works reliably in that case, get a new splitter from your local hardware store.

2) the 'internet light', is this on your computer or modem?

If it's on your computer, try connecting with another machine when yours is having trouble connecting. If the other computer can connect, but you can't, it may be a wireless card problem. If that's the case, try re-asking your question with that new piece of information included.

OR
if the light is on your modem, look at the modem next time. Is the DSL light on and steady? or is it off/flashing?
If it's the latter, and you've already done step 1, you need to contact your ISP as the problem is theirs, and is most likely irreparable from your own home. Either that or your router is faulty( which is actually very very common, they churn these things out with very little checks ) . In either case, it's not something you can fix easily.

Why do i lose internet when there is a storm/ strong winds / rain?

all depends how your provider links you. If you have a wireless connection it is normal, signal gets down due to the rain or the antenna on the roof bends in the wind and is out of signal path.
If you get it by cable, the provider has the problem if he gets it by wireless radio transmission or satellite. Radio transmitted signals are, unfortunately, subject to failure in heavy rain and snow or static electricity loaded storms.
You have to live with that.

For Filipinos who don't have a computer at home and go to internet cafes often?

We own an internet cafe and I can observe, most of our customers play online games. Most of them play Ran, O2Jam, RF Online and etc. While others play old and classic games like Counter Strike, GTA, Puzzle Bobble and etc. Only a few go here (our internet cafe) for chat, internet surfing and research for projects and homework. Others just listen to music as they check their Friendster accounts, watch YouTube videos (which I hate because it slows down the connection) and more. Hope that helps!

Why do my torrent speeds go up and down repeatedly, then stay down permanently?

i get about 90 kbps max speed, then it gradually goes down to .00 something, then goes back up again, then stays at 5-10kbps. i am using my dormitory's wifi connection. its not that good, i get about 90kbps max download speed (whether direct download or torrent). the dsl speed itself is either 800kbps or 1200kbps, im not sure, but how come i only get 90 when im the only one using it (the server never gets used anyway)? is there any way around it so i can get faster download speed? i am knowledgeable enough to follow instructions in changing configuration settings or use the command line. the slow "download cap" really bugs the hell out of me.

Why does my internet connection drop when it rains?

Depends on what kind of connection you have. If you have a wireless connection (unidirectional WiFi, proprietary wireless, satellite, etc.) then that may just not be avoidable. Atmospheric conditions like that will affect transmission strength. If it's wired (cable, DSL, etc.), it likely means there's wiring that's not watertight, and your provider would have to trace down where it is and seal that up.

Power light on my dsl stays orange.?

They should replace it for you for free. I wouldn't buy one on your own even though you could probably get it to work, just because most of the time they will send you a new one (and by new one I mean a newer model than the one they gave you before).
