Ex Muslims Are Growing Rapidly All Over The World

Are there any Ex-Muslims on Quora?

Yes, there are.1) What made you leave Islam? -- I used to be a devout muslim until 7 years ago. I would preach and engage in debates. I never missed a prayer or fast. I kept a blog titled "Messenger of Monotheism". In there, I wrote, "Existence of God is not something we can prove using test-tubes in a laboratory." A friend commented "If so, why are you so sure that god exists. Have you considered the possibility that you may be wrong?"That came as a shock to me. Nobody had questioned my faith before. Existence of God was a serious existential question and I couldn't rest unless some answers are found. I lost interest in prayers and anything Islamic. I took part in online discussions, went through a lot of articles and read Richard Dawkins' God Delusion. After 3 months of deliberation, I said "This is it! There's no god. I'm free".Detailed answer: Ajas Mohamed's answer to Why did you stop following Islam?2) Was your family supportive of your decision? -- No. Me and my brother would fiercely debate till after midnight. My mother would watch me arguing and cry and curse. My dad was not happy but he kept cool. Now, after 7 years, my mother kind of accepted it. I mean, she still tells me to be a Muslim so I can get married and have a family.Detailed answer: Ajas Mohamed's answer to How do family and friends react when Muslims leave Islam? Is the transition easy?3) What repercussions, if any, did you face after becoming an Ex-Muslim? -- There's no repercussions as such. I don't go around telling people about why I don't believe in Islam. I keep silent when my relatives discuss about Islam. I'm happy to be living in India, this country is tolerant no matter what people say. (I lived in Saudi Arabia for 2 years.). Life is normal and is how it used to be. Many less things to worry about.Similar answer: Ajas Mohamed's answer to Are atheists scared of death?

Which is growing faster: the ex-Mormon movement or the ex-Muslim movement?

It's difficult to say how many people leave the Mormon church every year, because the church doesn't release those statistics. I've heard anecdotally that around 100,000 people are asking to have their names removed from the records of the LDS church every year. A far larger number of folks don't self-identify as Mormon even though their names are on the rolls, so it's difficult to say.

As for Muslims, the ones I've met here in America tend to take a far more liberal view of Islam than those who live under Sharia law. In a way, you could say those folks have "left" Islam, although they would likely still self-identify as such. As for how many, once again, it's difficult to say.
