Axioms should reflect reality. If we get that backwards we are floating our abstractions . Virtual-Reality, may create other worlds to play in, but in every day life we don’t get cheat-codes to have infinite lives to get it right."WISHING WON'T MAKE IT SO" (aynrand.org)Ayn Rand’s philosophy, Objectivism, begins by embracing the basic fact that existence exists. Reality is, and in the quest to live we must discover reality’s nature and learn to act successfully in it.So if we understand correctly, axioms should be an extension of concrete-reality, since axioms are an abstraction, with language pointing towards Reality. And are merely things that symbolize reality and not things that extend reality in and of themselves.

It has been said and should be remembered that: “everything has a season.” If we analyze the word -season we know it means time of year and also added spice and flavour. Everything can be expanded-our knowledge, experience, possessions, waistlines…We have devised clever, useful systems to simplify and explain everything; and if we’re honest we find - “the more we know, the less we know!” Those that honour their curiosity are never satisfied with just a glimmer, peek or thought; it’s enlivening, exhilirating to satisfy all the senses expansively. As the mirror still water surface reacts to a falling stone outward and outward, so too our interests, our curiosity, our knowledge can expand rapaciously, realizing the significance of interconnections, symbiosis, cause and effect and-yes expansion. Everything has more than its basic appearance, function or facility. If we choose not to be expansive we risk being diminished and diminished….

Expansion of ideas on slow and steady wins the race?
I'm not sure what you're looking for about an expansion of ideas on slow and steady wins the race. Perhaps an example? A real life example that has applied to my personal experience is the time and care I take to solve physics problems as opposed to my peers. The method I take helps me understand and integrate to memory the procedure to solve a wide range of physics problems. Others rush through problems just to get the solution but often do not stop to think about the physical situation to appreciate the physics and concepts behind the problem. Slow and steady wins here because years later I will still appreciate and probably remember how to solve such problems as opposed to those who just rushsed through them to obtain a solution.

It harks back to the time when hay was cut by hand with a scythe. It had to be cut while the grass or grain was dry, so when the sun shone, it would dry out enough for hay to be cut. If you waited another day, it might rain, and the hay would begin to rot, and you wouldn't have enough to feed your stock in winter, and they, and you, would die. Life was dependent on getting things done at the right time. So. The proverb means "take advantage of opportunity as soon as it arises. Your life may depend on it."

How did the idea of manifest destiny help bring about the expansion of the US?
Manifest Destiny was an idea that it was the United States right (G0d given) to stretch across the continent i.e. from sea to shining sea. Two things stood in the way. Mexico and British claims on what is now Oregon and Washington. The Lewis and Clark expedition was sent to find a possible water route to the Pacific and to solidify claims in those areas outside the Louisiana purchase. The Mexican war was started to obtain the land necessary to fulfill the Manifest Destiny. The United States waited for an ant-USA President to take office. They then attacked saying the Mexicans had attacked them first. (Untrue). After the war some in Congress wanted to simply annex all of Mexico, however, it was decided to take only 1/3 of the country. In this manner the Manifest Destiny was achieved. The United States settled claims for the Oregon territories with a threat of war against England. The slogan 54-40 or fight comes from these negotiations. If the South would have won the Civil War, they would have undoubtedly taken or bought Mexican land to have their Country also cross the continent. Hope this helps
