What do you do when someone files a false police report on you?
First, just because someone contacts the police, doesn’t mean a report will be filed. If a report is made, it also doesn’t mean that an arrest will follow. If when talking to the reporting party it is determined that a crime has occurred, or it would be reasonable to believe that a crime as occurred, and that it’s not a civil matter, that report will get filed.If it’s a civil matter, the party is informed of that, and if it’s just un Either the officer or a detective, depending on the size and policies of the department involved, will follow up and perform additional investigation, which will likely involve talking to you. A determination will be made as to whether they believe the allegation to be true, at which point the accused may be arrested, or a warrant obtained for their arrest. This is rather rare, and generally involves very serious allegations, rape, kidnapping, etc., things that have caused huge community disruption and/or cost to municipalities or states in terms of manpower for searches, etc. Beyond that, you could potentially have a civil case for harassment, but those are difficult and expensive to prevail.
Filling a false police report.?
Back in Sept. 2009 my husband was involved in a fender bender in the company he worked with at the times truck. He said he was sitting at a stop sign with another car in front of him & was hit from behind which caused him to bump the car in front of him. All he did to the car in front of him was bend her license plate tag. My husband & the guy who was in the car with him seen the car that hit him take off. My husband & the other guy told the police what the girl looked like and what her car looked like. A month later my husband was fired from his job & the police that worked the wreck are pressing charges because "they found they car without any damage". The guy that was in the car with my husband can not be found but there not pressing charges against him just my husband. We are law abiding citizens who have never even had a speeding ticket. My husband is facing charges of a felony for filling a false report & a misdemeanor for obscuration of justice. His arraignment is April 29th. I'm pregnant & found out I was the day this all went down. I'm having a c-section April 26th. I'm so afraid there going to send him to jail over this. I'm not sure how I will be able to do it on my own after surgery. I have no family here and not sure how I'll pay the bills if he goes. I would like to know what you all think. Thanks in advance!

I came home for lunch one day and found my husband cheating on me I told him to get out but he wouldn't leave went back to work after I left work went to police station and filed a report...My husband was already on parole when the police officer came to the house he was already gone. Since he had already been in jail for something different he thought that He was going to jail...so he's been on the run since april....so now I'm trying to do the right thing for him and correct what I did wrong

I made a false report against my husband because i was mad. i am trying to correct what i did and accept full responsibility and have put it in writing. what will happen to me if charged and can my husband file charges against me for lying about him to the police? what if my husband is also on probation, will he get in trouble because i lied? that does not seem fair...please advise on what to do next.....i need help!

You might be able to garner some sympathy if you roll on the girl and convince them that she's the evil mastermind and you were forced to do it.. But, right off the bat you've got credibility issues….

Will I be kicked out of Dep for giving false info to police leaving for basic in 2 weeks.?
Ok so I know Im gonna get some discouaring responses but I just want some advice. I recieved a citation for giving false info to police and my court date is Mar 5th. I leave for basic Mar 11th for the Army. Will I be kicked out of dep and not allowed to ship? The court has given me the option to pay the fine so I wont have to go to court, because its a class 3 misdemanor. If i pay the fine before my ship date will I be allowed to ship? Also I was not arrested for this either, just given a citation. My job also does not require a security clearence. Any advice would be helpful.
