What could have AMC and Fandango's server teams done to be better prepared for the onslaught of fans trying to buy Avengers: Endgame tickets? Is it reasonable to expect these services to not crash under such demand?
I have it on good authority it was not a failure of preparation, it was a failure of imagination. They were prepared for pre-sales demand to be higher than they have ever seen before, it was just significantly higher than they had any reason to expect. At some point, when demand exceeds the capacity you are prepared for you enter into a cascading failure situation and there is no getting out of it.Yes, you are being unreasonable. I can tell you nobody went into work that day hoping things would crash so that you wouldn’t get your Endgame tickets. I wasn’t there but I can guess there was a lot of:They planned for it as best they could and you crazy bastards smashed them.At some point too I would argue that for each of these companies, there is only so much that is economically feasible. Neither of these companies are Google, FaceBook, or Twitter and are built to handle crazy spikes in traffic. It is not really their business model. Throwing shit tons of money making things run smooth at some point has to seem like bad business because…guess what…they are going to get your money anyway.One way or the other you are buying their tickets…
Can I use a Fandango gift card at the movie theater?
I just got a Fandango gift card with 25$ on it for a gift...the back of it says to go online and purchase ur tickets using the code, then print them out....do I have to do this? or can I go to any movie theater and use the gift card at the ticket booth?

You can find out if Fandango is used for your specific theatre by visiting our homepage www.amctheatres.com 1) From there find the theatre you would like to purchase tickets to (by state or zip code). 2) Find the showing and showtime you would like to see. 3) Click on the Showtime 4) You will be connected to Movietickets.com or Fandango.com. If you're connected to Fandango.com then you can use your Fandango gift card on that website to purchase tickets. A second option is to visit www.fandango.com directly. Enter your zip code or city/state in the appropriate field. Find the theatre you would like to purchase tickets to. If the showtimes are hyperlinked then you can purchase tickets via Fandango and use your gift card. Regal theaters do not accept Fandango gift cards. How can I redeem them?
A gift card may only be used at participating Regal Entertainment Group theatres and select online merchants (visit Regal Cinemas, UA & Edwards Theatres: Movie Tickets & Showtimes for a list of theatres and online merchants). A gift card is redeemable towards general admission tickets and concession purchases. It cannot be redeemed for cash unless required by law.This is what I got through google.
How does a new movie theater get listed in Fandango, MoviePass, Movies.com, & other services? I know AMC wants nothing to do with MoviePass so I doubt they're willfully supplying that data to them. Where are these sites & services scraping that data?
I was unaware that AMC was having trouble with MoviePass. We’re still accepting their cards just fine (or at least our registers aren’t declining them), unless something happened between yesterday and today.Most of these services get the info directly from AMC themselves; most likely through an API we provide for them. Many of these services can even order movie tickets straight from our theaters (MovieTickets.com, Fandango, and Atom just to name a few) as well as reserving seats.Some of these services also either have incorrect information or fake information. I don’t know the names of them but I’ve had people in the past that complain to me that I have the wrong times, when truly they are using an untrustworthy site.The best way to get accurate info is either through AMC themselves, or through any site that allows you to order tickets through them.If you can purchase our tickets through the site in question, we very likely support them because they have to talk directly to our own services to do so.
