Female Dog Keeps Trying To Hump Just Neutered Cat

Will male dogs still go after female dogs in heat after being neutered?

I’ve only had one male dog, Gabe, a golden retriever, so my answer is specific to him and what my vet has told me about male dogs.Neutering a male dog (Gabe was 4 when I adopted him and I had him neutered as soon as possible afterward) will reduce a lot of aggression in a male dog, but if they have had previous interactions with female dogs in season, they could remember that and might still attempt to go through the motions.I am a person who believes in neutering and spaying all dogs - it is a responsible thing to do, plus personally, I would have difficulty giving away a basket of adorable little puppies, so my dogs were all neutered/spayed at 6 months or as soon as I could. The process of neutering has absolutely no affect on the dog’s happiness - even Gabe’s surgery wouldn’t hold him down, he wanted to play immediately and I had to watch him carefully for as long as I could after his surgery.Having Gabe, a male who had been a dog on the run (on the streets) for 4 years before I adopted him, and neutered shortly thereafter, at the same time as I had adopted Gingersnap at 3 months, she was spayed at 6 months and there was no heat season beforehand. However. When these frisky dogs were playing in the backyard, the position of mating happened often, sometimes with Gabe mounting Gingersnap, and other times with Gingersnap mounting Gabe. My vet explained that this procedure was just an act of dominance, triggered by the two of them being frisky - it was actually not a sexual act. So I just asked Gabe to stop as he was quite heavy and I didn’t want to affect Gingersnap’s hind quarters, making them weak or triggering hip dysplasia. And when Gingersnap did it, it was just plain rude, lol, so both of them were asked to stop and they listened to me very well.But really, it is dependent on the individual dog; some dogs aren’t bothered with it, and other dogs still think they have what it takes. I was so fortunate with Gabe, I can’t speak to all breeds of dog. I know Gabe wouldn’t have sniffed the wind to find a female dog in heat and take off to find her.Hope my answers offers some input and doesn’t confuse you more!

My male cat keeps humping his brother?

Fixed male cats and dogs will continue to hump and even occasionally spray(cats). The humping is about dominance, a pecking order among animals (well even humans). Also if your female is not spayed it may also be affected them, especially if she is in heat or close to heat.

*Please don't litter, spay and neuter your pets!!!*

EDIT For mine anything bad, clawing furniture, getting on counters ect.... water has worked very well. ( as recommended by... the answerer with the Himalayan looking cat saga... something)Not only do I have cat free counters and tables but new furniture with no cat marks. (All four have their claws, I will NEVER declaw)

Can a neutered male dog still penetrate a female??

Neutering a male dog only removes his testicles; nothing is done to his penis, so technically he can still penetrate a female. A male dog may still have the mounting behavior, even all his life, particularly if he is older when neutered. Spaying your female will also help because the male dog recognizes the pheremones given off by an unspayed female.

You may want to make sure with the vet that the vet removed both testicles. Sometimes a testicle can be undescended and require further surgery. It's more likely, though, that once your female is spayed, the behavior will lessen.

Why does my neutered female DOG hump my neutered male CAT?!?!?

just a show of dominance! nothing sexual about it

by the way neutered just means to make neutral so yes you can say your female is neutered!!

Why does my female dog try to hump my leg?

There's more than one reason for that- one is shockingly human, the other a sign that you dog may not be trained properly or with enough force. Reason 1- masturbation. That's right, dogs do it too; it feels good to rub or hump when people do it- dogs like it too. This is nothing to be concerned about, he/she can't hurt you and, provided he/she isn't doing it excessively, usually won't hurt himself/herself. Female dogs usually hump for this reason more than the other one, but that said, male dogs are more likely to hump than females typically. Usually when doing it for this reason they hump other objects also. Reason 2- dominance. Humping is effectively a way for dogs to tell others in their pack "this individual is beneath me and all my superiors" (unless he/she is the alpha) - and they do so with a pungent scent that is "marked" onto the other dog (or person who the dog perceives as equivalent to that) by a gland- you guessed it- at the base of the sheath. (The skin, essentially foreskin, covering the penis in a male dog; the glands are located near the vulva in a female) This cause is often accompanied by other forms of defiance, like mounting, barking/growling with the Ears Erect or Tail Held High, excessive jumping, etc.now, what to do about it- there's no way for me to tell from here which one is the case for you; so I'll give you a vague, but hopefully helpful answer. Step#1: exercise. Up the exercise routine until the dog is panting and reluctant to go on once per day- the main reasons dogs masturbate are the same ones people typically have - it feels good and they are bored Or have too much energy. Step#2: consult with some means of knowledge about pack dominance and training- best done by contacting a professional dog trainer- and determine if you are really the alpha or not. (If he/she is humping you out of dominance, you are not the alpha) then Take Advice From A PROFESSIONAL or have them tame/train the dog. You can make matters much, Much worse if you lack the experience and can not read the dogs body language correctly- in fact you could get bit. Dominance is not a little thing to a dog- everything in a dogs world centers on where it stands in its pack. If it stands higher than you, it's like it is the mayor and you a commoner- he's/she's not going to give up his/her place to you unless you can prove to them you deserve it. hope I helped!

My medium size female dog is humping my small female cat. Why is she doing this?

We got our dog over a year ago when shew as 6 months old. A few months later we got a 4 week old kitten. Now a year later they are best of friends. They play together and sleep together. They get alone great! But about two weeks ago they where sleeping on the couch next to me why I was watching TV. All of a sudden I looked over at them and my cat was sitting in front of the dog and the dog was humping her. It was crazy, they where both sitting up just watching TV why the dog humps away. I didn't know what to do...so I gave the dog a light spank and said "NO". I know this was the wrong response but I really had no idea what to do. It was so funny and shocking. She didn't do it anymore until last night. My husband and I where watching TV and again they where sleeping. Then all of a sudden the dog started humping the cat again. This time the cat tried to get away and the dog used her paws to hold her down. It was sooo funny!! Both the pets are fixed.

Neutered dog humping the ground especially in front of cats, why?

Hi Miranda :)

Humping might not be the most politically correct term, however that is the what most people use to describe this activity, thus our use of the word.

There are several reasons that your dog might be humping you or others. Below are some of the most common reasons given by various veterinarians
:

1.Your dog might be showing you a great sign of affection;
2.Your dog might be displaying his dominance;
3.Your dog might have an anal sac infection; or
4.Your dog might be doing it just to do it even if they have been altered.
If your dog’s humping is bothering you, rest assured that there are steps you can take to help your furry friend overcome this ailment.

1.You might want to watch him and tell him “no” before he does it;
2.You might not want to allow dominance displays to occur in your home;
3.You might want to reward him when he obeys; or
4.You might need to take your dog to the vet to check his anal sacs.
If none of the above remedies work then you should consult your vet to see what exactly might be causing the problem.

Hope I helped ;)

Will a male dog who isn't fixed try to hump a female dog who is fixed?

Yes. Humping isn't always due to hormones; it can also be the result of stress, social anxiety or just plain excitation. Dogs may also hump when bored and when seeking attention. The sex doesn't matter on either dog - a lot of dogs hump furniture, toys, pillows and human legs.  And it follows that it doesn't matter if the dog has been altered or not; humans who have lost their ability to reproduce also have sexual urges. If your dog is humping a lot, this is no laughing matter; this could be a compulsion or what is also referred to as a repetitive behavior, often brought on by stress. Allergies could also be a cause - perhaps the dog is just trying to relieve a really bad itch!A lot of people assume humping is either sexually-motivated or attributable to dominance, but it isn't quite this simple. According to behaviorist, Becky Trisko, PhD, who studied dog-dog interactions in a daycare setting, humping isn't related to status-seeking behaviors but rather play behavior.

Do dogs still try to have sex after spaying/neutering?

Our female dog was spayed today and our male dog is unneutered. (I know, I know, but before you start preaching to the choir, the male dog belonged to my husband before we married, so he is more his dog than mine, and my husband's final say is no neutering him. I have tried and tried, but we are both stubborn people.)
So, even though the female won't have heat cycles and is not fertile, will they still try to have sex, or does the spaying destroy her interest, and his interest in her?
(He tried to hump her once or twice--just trying to rub against her--but they never attempted sex before. She has never been in heat.)

Okay question about female dogs and humping!?

The question is......do female dogs hump too? I have a 5 month old yorkie and I swear I saw her trying to hump my son. She really favors my son so if she was going to hump someone it would be him. Its really funny but I just didn't think female dogs humped. Is something wrong with her. Is she confused. Maybe she needs a boyfriend....Maybe I think too much!!!!
